I say we do a single elimination battle rap tournament.

I may have missed this while I was away, but when is the next Nur Ein taking place?

Thanks...you do realize my reference to Louis Prima was to point out the fact that he's King Louis in Jungle Book though, right?
No, I didn't realize that. Never read the book, saw the movie or the show. But my offer still stands. And I still can't swing.

That said, you know who I was referring to, right?

haha, yes...I know who Louis Prima is...that's how I knew he provided the voice for King Louis :P

After hearing a segment on This American Life on NPR, I came up with this idea for a side fight. We should all do original interpretations of The Cat Came Back

Seeing as we have the Yacht Rock Coverfight, Hall & Oates Coverfight, Total Request Official Coverfight and the yearly Gift of Music holiday extravaganza all coming up, I think it would be best to wait before we have another Nur Ein. 3 different coverfights + the GoM + Nur Ein + the Song Fights would be way too much.

Mr. Pot, I have Mr. Kettle calling on line 1.

Following your own advice and cutting out stuff like checking the site 4 million times you might be able to squeeze in time for say, Oh I don't know, practicing an instrument or doing research on techologies you don't understand.

I've only got 5 more months before I can no longer truthfully sing the girl part. I just need a suitable male voice. Hm. I should actually do that soon. Next weekend! :D)
Actually, you know what I was just thinking, was that The BeWells should step up and record it. So long as we could divorce ourselves from the fact that they're related.
I think it'd still be pretty creepy. You and Lindsay could do a duet though, that wouldn't be creepy at all... :P
I was thinking you could enlist Spud to sing ".....I am fifty, going on fifty-one", to Bjam's ".....I am sixteen, going on seventeen". That wouldn't sound creepy at all.
------------------
EDIT:
On second thought - ditch Bjam, and Marcus, you sing the "16 going on 17 part". Add some extra lyrics involving a drinking competition.

Or just get each Songfight guy to record a line to really hit home the creepy factor. "I am *jumble of all ages* going on *jumble of all ages plus one*"
Songfighter since back in the day.

My ignorance astounds me! OK, I'll go see the movie, or whatever.

I'm sorry, is this wasting precious board space?

If Lindsay and I were to perform it that would be an irony; Lindsay is older than me by a few years and I'm older than seventeen by a few years, myself. Then--I don't know the ages of the Bigfaces.

And yes, go check out that movie. That song is, IMO, the best Disney song ever recorded.

And then next year we can all join in on variations of the Marty Robbins song "She Was Only Seventeen (And He Was *One* Year More)".

WTF, is your sister truly 23? what's the difference in your age and hers?

(kind of) from a pre-fight thread. Maybe a fight with one set of lyrics for all. The lyrics could be constructed from people each contributing a line, until a pre-set amount off lines are collected. Joe Blow writes:
"I've got a brand new pair of roller skates" Sally O'Mally writes:
"My boyfriend lives with a bunch of ingrates" etc.
You could re-arrange them, exclude lines...I dunno.

Or opposite gender coverfight. Say Caravan Ray doing "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" or perhaps maybe just a Blondie song.

Somewhat in a similar vein, but I have always thought j$ singing Girls by Beastie Boys would be hilarious.

I know it was a huge hit and feminist anthem and all that, but Aretha Franklin doing "RESPECT" just never made sense to me. Then I found out it was an Otis Redding song, and all those lines that just didn't seem like they fit... presto! I think she changed a bunch of "I" references to "you" or something, which further muddled the meaning...

Then I think she did Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac" and didn't change some "your" lines to "my" lines and that never made sense to me either...
