Congratulations to Beefy and the Runners up - all good songs!

129 voters this week, last week - 109, before that - c. 90. Less songs, more votes? InterestingBeefy wrote:Yay, the songs have been up for a day and I'm already being accused of friend flooding. Super Dooper!

sorry for not reviewing this week; it would seem I now only have time to write either a song or reviews.
Lack of Sleep kicked ass but Phil's comment about the inside out mix was right on. It'd be cool if you guys got signed so then somebody else could engineer your stuff, lovin' the song dynamics though.
It'd be cool if Beefy got signed too. hmmm. and what' all this about nerdcore? There's only one nerdcore* and it ain't for rappers!

Ya know, it's supposed to be "she's really freakin' out", but I'm now thinking of changing the lyric to "owl" because that's so out of left field it's perfect!jeff robertson wrote: Wages - your guitar playing on this song is fine, by me. it's unhealthy to be a pore loser. people need pores.
it is true, however, that griping about friendflooding is not pretty and smacks of "how dare you involve your friends in your hobby" or "how dare you have friends". at some point, friendflooding becomes "bringing your fans to Song Fight."
speaking from experience, we should all be so lucky as to have 20 or 30 people who will go to a web site and click not only a radio button but then a Submit button on our behalf.
when i tell my friends i have a song up, they immediately start telling me who is better than i am, or what's wrong with my mix. :-/
however, it is also not pretty to call people you just Internet-met that they are "bitches." and it's just as unbecoming to focus on the two or three comments that are negative vs. those that are positive, and rather ANNOYING when you lump everyone together based on the comments of just one or two people. it means that you're not actually paying attention to what is being said, you're just spoiling for a fight.
so, you know, everybody, get a fucking grip. and i say that with all the love in my heart.

You know when I checked the results before posting, they looked a little lopsided. But you know, things happen. So I went and listened to the two songs with all those votes, and I found them to be pretty good - possibly even winners. I went and read the reviews, and found that they both got pretty good reviews, in general. Some people even said they were going to vote for one or the other. I took the precaution of checking the IP addresses of the votes to see if they were coming from a single provider or geographic area, and they were not. I even went to their websites and listened to some of their other music. I concluded that both of these guys are just popular - at least partly because they are pretty good. However, I worded the front page ambiguously to leave it up in the air. I was hoping that others who hadn't listened to the songs to go check them out for themselves, if only out of a feeling of WTF. You know what they say - there's no such thing as bad publicity. Anyway, congrats guys, and you too Hell Yeahs.

Good post, I'm one of those that commented...sometimes it's just fun to banter around on the discussion board. And not all of us who comment really think it's all that big of a deal, but fun to comment on.jb wrote: it is true, however, that griping about friendflooding is not pretty and smacks of "how dare you involve your friends in your hobby" or "how dare you have friends". at some point, friendflooding becomes "bringing your fans to Song Fight."
For the sake of comment - I for one don't tell people about my fights, because I'm curious how many votes I'll get based on the merits of the tune, and not because people are friends or even fans. My call - I realize others make different choices.
Grip never lost, but fucking got none the less

Then you have uniquely honest friends. I am convinced that if I told my friends about it, and asked them to go vote for me, they would come, click on my name, and then f-off.
I have yet to see any empirical evidence for the argument that self-promotion to your myspace crew (or wherever) 'brings people to the fights and they listen to the other songs'. The only evidence of that would be if the number of first time reviewers, the number of votes, if they stay high next week, and the week after.
Also, Beefy has done it before, got shouted at about it, and has come back and seemingly done exactly the same again. Which shows a lack of respect for the site and the people on it. As does our new poster who arrives not to review but to tell us how naughty we are for pointing what s/he has clearly just done.
The Hell Yeahs have been deprived a worthy win by friend-flooding. So they lose out on 'bragging rights'. It happens; so be it. We don't have to get outraged by it; but that doesn't mean we have to make excuses for it.

EDIT: It's amazing what a really strong cup of coffee and Songfight in the morning results in.Rpride wrote:I find you all to be petty and pore losers. One would think losing would inspire you to improve your selves not attack the winner. I may be completely off base here but to an outsider you all seem like bitches.

All, eh? Complain did I? Next thing you'll be saying is "all you honky's better stop putting on those white robes and drinking PBR before my bitches from the Mustang Ranch get my rocks off or I'll have to come back from Jackassville and show you what my big 3 inch can do!"
Mmmm, testosteroni. Taste like CHICKEN with only half the protein!
On second thought, since I didn't complain, I feel like I need to jump on the bandwagon. I'd hate to be generalized and then not fullfill said prophecy.
Soooooo, f*** Beefy! Yeah you cheater! I voted for Ross and that means HE should have won! And I didn't get a goddamned vote! I know something is "whack" with that because my piss poor recordings put your polished shit to shame! Damn IP checkers... if only my 37 votes for myself from the three computers on my home network hadn't been caught...
Bwaahahahahahaha!

I will now return to being the mild mannered songwriter for the Daily Planet. Marvel smarvel.

Ah, fighting over Friend Floods. It wouldn't be Songfight without it.
Do I think Beefy flooded the vote. No. I saw his myspace bulletin that he has a new song up. So what. Does that mean he flooded the vote? RxW put out a similiar bulletin and it didn't help him much. There are going to be squabbles over friend floods for as long as Songfight exists. Spud checked it. Neither of the fightmasters are crying foul play. End of story. Congrats to Beefy. You made a good song and it won.
