I'm gonna have to disagree. It's pretty frickin' terrible. It reminds me of last year's worst movie, Kicking and Screaming, in that both films decided they didn't need a script, and that their usually funny lead actors would just kind of "make it funny." This is not as bad as that (which was a cinematic cigarette burn to the eye), but flopping around in the same swamp. D.
I'm really cranking out the D's this summer, and I haven't even seen Click!

Aren't you the guy that hit me in the eye?

It's entertaining, but kind of two steps forward and one step back for Jared and Jerusha Hess. There are too many cooks in the kitchen: Mike White, the Hesses, and Jack Black created an uneven movie that has some appeal but it's spread a little thin. There's a crapload of ADR in the movie and that really bugged me. Really, really bugged me. Sound effects especially.

This movie was terrific. Absurd, retarded, over-the-top, hilarious. I just hope no one sees it with pretenses of it being anything more than elegantly-filmed slapstick/gross-out comedy.
edit: I have more to say. First of all, this is basically like Wes Anderson directing a Farrely Bros. script. Secondly, what a rad soundtrack. "Real Religious Man" by Mr. Loco is a great fuckin' tune.

Finally just saw this, and I thought it was pretty funny. Maybe 80% as funny as Napoleon Dynamite was to me. I think I had kind of lowered my expectations because of the mixed reviews I'd read, which probably helped. Jack Black can still crack me up with practically anything he does. Awesome wrestling, especially the flying eagle move. B
