Here's the rest... (sorry guys, I don't normally break up the reviews like this, but alcohol came between me and reality!)

Deux Freres: Knee-slapper with a heart, really like the plunkity plunk country swing and I do feel sorry for the young lady at the centre of the song, nice simple tune, very good lyrics.

Danyer: The whole marry the dog bit is funny if a titchy bit predictable, but the marry the stapler is sheer genius, totally off-base and lyrically amusing, but what really makes this for me is the way it descends into total goofball nonsense at the end without being stupid... class and comedic.

Dean Sky: Great old-fashioned story song, and any song that starts with getting out of county jail and culminates with sleeping with your underage cousin will always evoke memories of those late 60's early 70's country classics like boy named sue to name but one. professional outing mr. sky!

Glenn Case: See Deux Freres above, this occupies similar territory yet totally has the edge with cleaner playing and perfect vocal awareness, I have to say with chagrine that I've only just got into Glenn's work and his back catalogue is amazing, simple tunes held together by tight playing and great vocals... a genuine talent! Top 5 (possible vote).

Jacob Lynn: Slightly sinister undertones that really gets to the dark heart of marriage in haste, chorus had me chanting along every time, lyrically great and at times borering on genius, my personal Jacob Lynn favourite.

Adnoisium: Love the delivery style, very TMBG though would probably work slightly better if there was something in a higher register just to off-set the whole thing, longer here would be much better.

Our Dog: Good use of the wedding march, but after that you've left very little time for the actual song, this could have gone to somewhere really good if you'd maybe took a bit longer to expand it into that which it initially promised.

Cranial Biffida: Great sample intro, love the bells/glock, female vox in the choruses is very reminiscent of the cranes, this is a blinding track, I don't know if you guys are new or just haven't posted for a while or whatever, but with last weeks and this weks entries then I'm eagerly awaiting your next adventure. Top 5.

Hope I've not left anyone out.... really high quality fight with only a couple of slack tracks, not sure where my votes going but it's between
Paco, Frisbee, Glenn, Cranial and Wages (but so many contenders, I'll keep listening and then decide....)

for as long as i take to write reviews you'd think the would be full of
important stuff....such is not the case.
i really liked this fight a lot. some really good songs here.

adnoisium- sounds like what a therapist would be saying to a troubled couple. kinda drones but at least its not that long. pretty good.

andre was here at midnight- you are making an art out of being completely off key and out of tune. somehow it works moderately well though.

bearsquadron- i dont think the chronic will help you. the start sounded promising, but you missed the mark big time.

b ellison- i really like this song. one of the standouts this fight. sounds a little epic. i like the story and the music is tight and you have a nice voice. great job.

billys little trip- i didnt expect much from the way it starts but you really brought the 80s punk to the party.
i love the energy of this song. you have a great punk voice. i love the hook at the end of the chorus.
another stand out.

cranial biffida- i love the sample at the beginning, but thats where my interest ends. sounds like satan in my headphones .

cynthia size and spoony- i like the mix and the vocals a lot. its a bit too repetitive for my taste but in short bits it is very charming. nice job on the collab. i do love the break ...yah nice job!!

damien verrett-i like the vox on this, good lyrics. doesnt really catch the ear as much as it appeals lyrically though. good song , i like the second half, much better than the first part, for its energy

dangerous- sounds like elevator music. all you need is a little kenny g in there and we would have a smooth jazz hit.

danyer- the lyrics make me want to skip it. i dont think its funny . the stapler bit is kindof clever. i would love to hear a serious attempt from you. i like the sound just not the lyrics.

dean sky- yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaa- i dont really like country but this throws back to the old school of country when country wasnt so overproduced. nice old time country groove. great song..........well....all except for the dateline interview aspect.

deux freres- wow another country ballad. its pretty good. sounds like you can pump out a formulaic country song in your sleep. its a really good song, but not so much my taste.

emergency pizza party- awesome name. sounds like someone is against the old ball and chain. its funny and sad at the same time. the dark side of marriage. the raps were a little sharp at the start but you start flowing a little better as it plays. not my taste.

TFHproject- this sounds like what Dwight from ‘ the office ‘ would make if he were in songfight.

glenn case- this is an awesome song. great delivery, i love the vox in the chorus. it reminds me of something that i cant put my finger on right now. but this song is definately the favorite to win im thinking. and a keeper. oh yah maybe it reminds me of " that thing you do" voice wise in the chorus, not so much musically.

jacob lynn-pretty strong musically, after you get past the intoduction. another sad take on marriage. i really like the piano track. good song

jimmy jet and his tv set- i like the direction you took. i think it must lose something in recording though. im sure this is a great song to play live, but it just doesnt grab my attention. i like the pre-chorus a lot. the line " nothin's for certain, but we're certain tonight" seems forced in there. otherwise its a really strong entry.

klownhole- you guys rock hard. definately skilled. sounds like the song they played at alice coopers wedding reception. you continue to bring the rock. its tight and loud and full of energy, but it still feels like something is missing. i dont what that might be though. good entry.

melvin-consistantly one of my favorite sf musicians. i love the vocal harmonies. your lyrics are great as always. i really like the overall sound . mix is awesome and the guitars sound clear and perfect. Great song.

narcaloungers-really pretty guitar licks, nice voice. does it sound a little like bon jovi's ' shot to the heart ' song? this song gives marriage " a bad name". honestly though it sounds like a real story , well done musically . some of the vocal harmonies, although they sound really good at times, seem a little off time with one another. love the synth action. nice. good job.

our dog- did you hock a loogi in the intro. another song down on weddings. sounds like you are trying to be scary, but the music isnt profound enough in the mix to get the job done.

PDS-love the vocal harmonies in the intro, awesome production. this one gets the job done. nice leads wow.
great song.

rone rone rone...S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y- NIGHT!!! in the future try not maching the vocals with the synth melody. it doesnt sound good. if you tried holding a chord and only singing melody i think that might unclutter the sound at least in some parts. keep trying rone.

Glennny/ Frisbee- i dont usually have anything good to say about my own songs, because i always over analize everything and end up not liking it very much, but i am sooooo happy with how this song turned out. glennny is an awesome musician and he was able to turn something that i normally would have tossed out after the fight into something i can keep and probly never reproduce live =) so thanks for the Glennny.

voh- oh man, lyrically cant compete with the other song about being in love with someone elses wife. however it is the flipside of glen's song. his song was selfless. and yours is selfish.
lyrics aside, its okay.

wages-okay now this is my favorite wages song so far. guitar riff is great, sounds jet-esque.
you should be very happy with this song, i know i am happy to hear it. you seem to have got a handle on past issues and nailed it this time. great job man!!

yes yes no yes- sounds like you were going for something different. congratulations, although i dont really like it. the music is kinda nice in spots.

zipline-i love the bass and drums of this song. vox are a little weak, but show promise. musically solid.

my favorites are Glen, BLT, wages , melvin, B ellison. and for a change i really do like the one i submitted ( thanks to Glennny )
Thanks for the frisbee is on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music ect.

Hey Frisbee, you mentioned the familiarity of something in

Post by the_prisoner »

the Glenn Case song - For me it was "Here Comes the Sun," but only a vague resemblance. If it means anything, I really like that tune, and you already know I think the Case tune was also solid!

Ok, after much deliberation I think I have it down to my two favorites. First, I don't know understand how Paco del Stinko hasn't won on this forum. Then again, I've never been one for musical popularity contests. Hey, then what the hell am I doing here. Am I thinking out loud again? Shit, I'll have to remember to not do that. So Paco is in the top two.

After much additional listening to the contenders, and as much as I like our own entry this week, I do have to say that the Glenny/Frisbee combination produced a stellar track. It will be a tough decision between these two excellent and disparate entries . . .

Thanks for the feedback everyone...I appreciate it. I agree with the assessment of my intro...could have probably done without it.

My vote goes to Thank Glenny for the Frisbee this week. Great song, guys. I get a real Wilco vibe from it, which is a good thing. Again, nice work.

Three things struck me particularly in this one:

Billy's Little Trip: nice idea and lyrics;
Jacob Lynn: fantastically catchy chorus;
Narcaloungers: lovely voice but also a nice song.

Hard to choose just one ...

Reviews in 10 words or less.

I expect way too many sentimental love songs, so many that I will have to burn down a church in order to cleanse my bitter soul.

P.S. I think marriage is a pointless institution, so that will affect my reviews. I don't want to hear songs about how marriage is awesome or rules or to see it treated as beautiful.

Melvin: Nice weird guitarness. Catchy. A bit too poppy.
Cranial Biffida: Soundtrack for cheap horror movie.
Friedrich Hunger Strike: Crappy Kompressor ripoff.
YYNY: Reverse! So it's really divorce song.
B. Rabbit, I mean Ellison: Good church organ. Nice song. Decemberistsy.
NARC: Because the night was made for lovers!
Deux Freres: French hodown. Decent.
Glenn: Nice ditty. Lyrics are sappy.
Wages: Cool clicky percussion at beginning. Ok. Beats not bad.
Adnoisium: Vocals sound unconvinced. Lyrics bad. Music cool.
Billy's Little Trip: Oi. Rock. Less cymbal please. Leader. Nice vox dude.
Cynthia...: The Japanese would love this.
Voh: Cool guitar tone. Bitter, annoying lyrics.
Thank Glennnnnnnny: Very lovely. Good lyrics even. New leader.
Rone: I love fruity loops beats. That's all.
Dean Sky: Sounds like a karaoke track.
Emergency Pizza Pary: Awesome band name. Wouldn't listen to this at a wedding or pizza party.
Andre: Sounds Franz Ferdinandy. A little too loose.
Danyer: Fuh sho!
Paco: Nice intro. Wtf! That voice! Decent song with ridiculous lyrics.
Bear Squadron: Second best band name. Silly in the good way.
Neil Be: Very majestic intro. The rest doesn't live up to the intro.
Dangerous: Bagboy, can you direct me to the canned radishes?
Zipline: Interesting production. Cool song.
Our Dog: Wth? intro. Awesomely bad song with awesomely bad lyrics.
"nothing but lust and anger
combined into evil."
and
"I wish you
nothing
but death."
Awesome. New leader.
Damien Verrett: The music is cool, but the lyrical concept is not so, even though you do some interesting and somewhat funny things with it. Cool bridge.
Ok, that was more than 10 words, but whatever.
Jacob Lynn: This gives me a very distinct Cursive feel. Cool lyrics and vibe. Cool song.
Klownhole: I can't enjoy this Velvet Revolver style of music.
Jimmy Jet: I guess that intro was inevitable. Not a bad song. I like the tempo shift in and out of the chorus, awkward as it may be.

Good fight...

_________________________________Twin Towers of the fight ____________________________________

Thank Glennny for the Frisbee : where do i begin ? just great tune overall, been listening to it since the day it was posted. lyrics are good, melody is soft and sweet. i'll say you two should collab more often. the bass/mandolin work glennny did fits perfect.
i can see how others might say "to many strings..." with accustic, mandolin, and bass playing through out the entirety of the song, but it doesn’t bother me one single bit. probably the reason i have enjoyed it so much. the 1 note mandolin harmonic glennn does is genius. I have listen to this so many times already have a music video for it playing inside my head. it came to me from listening to the way the song start and ends; in a bedroom with background noise going on (as if someone was cleaning/ vacuuming outside the room), but then the noise goes away, and the song really picks up, (as if the boy had close the door, gone underneath the bed, shut his eyes and started daydreaming), then the song is over, he opens his eyes, and is back in his bedroom.
so yeah, you guys got my vote.
with all the coverfight stuff going on, i would love to learn how to play this song.. if you would like to post the chord progression for this somewhere, i might give a crack at it one of these days. Only if you have the time and feel comfortable doing so.

Glenn Case : the more i listen to this, the more i want to hear a Jazz version of it.. as it hints a jazzy feel.
maybe by replacing the open acoustic chords for fancy electric jazz chords. dono.
either way its a great tune, and the chorus makes it a good sing along. theme of the song, reminds me of tonic's "Ring Around Her Finger".
also liked the subtle patience with the bass. would of gotten my vote, but frisbee's song provoke more emotions.
Glenn has become a songwritting machine. your last week Chuck the bear entry was enjoyable as well.

_______________________________Great Tunes_____________________________________

Paco del Stinko : with an intro like that! how could i NOT like it. fucking great. man this is such a breath of fresh air from the rest of this fight. liked the intensity, guitar shredding, bass tone, drums... everything pretty much. creepy, dark, and moody. just how i like it. top 3.
ever heard of an Easter European band called Royal Hunt ? Sounds very alike.

Billy's Little Trip : good stuff. has the intensity of some early everclear stuff. drums are great. vocals are good, with funny lyrics.
. might be 20-30 secs too long though. top 4.

Deux Freres : now this is swinging... funny that it follows Dean Sky, as i was trying to imagine what his song would sound like with more energy.. Might have been something like this.. liking the shuffle country beat. shit! is that Roy Orbison singing the background, man does it sound so much like him. tell him to sing me pretty woman. RIP MR. Orbison. Enjoyed it. top 5.

Jacob Lynn : liking the whole dark acoustic feel of this. this is pretty good. the cynical vocals reminds me of Matthew good. could use a better mix, and try to cut out some of the Hisses. top 6.

Klownhole : liked the whole LIVE feel of this. LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS. GOOD ENERGY. top 7.

The Narcaloungers : another 70's sounding tune. (heart ?) . enjoyable tune though. drums could have been done better. ohh yeah, when i though it couldn’t get any more 70s you bring out the synths.. like it allot. :) top 8.

_________________________________OK songs _________________________________

Zipline : WTF where the first 30 seconds for ? once the actual songs start, is pretty good. a rock band with a jazz drummer, and it shows.
i like it though, in a chaotic, progressive way. why do i think RUSH, when i listen to this? i completely miss the point of the first and last 30 seconds. am an idiot. top 9.

Wages : great vocals like always. what kills me here is the distortion on the guiar... just not the right effect for this song at all.
a nice warm bluesy tone, would have been nice. with your vocals you can probably do a killer low moody blues tune. just stop using half ass distortion on the guitar. you might have been trying to go for that warm fuzzy 70s distortion that the guy from The Black Keys uses... if so you have not found it yet.
i highly envy your vocals. top 10.

B. Ellison : this has nice 70s ballad thing going on, reminds me a bit of that moody blues songs... white sand, or something like that. Everything is pretty good here, the drums are not uptop par though... or just not mix too well.

Cynthia Size and her Eclectic SpOOns : that mic reverb stab, on the left channel makes the hair on the back of neck stand up... ANNNYYYOINNNG.
the rest of the songs is actually good, and enjoyable. why you though that reverb stab belong there is beyond me.

Damien Verrett : you sound too much like Frankie Big face, to not mention. liked the whole vibe of this tune. whished the vocals were louder.

Danyer : best lyrics of the entire fight. no kidding. is easy to write about a girl you like, writing about marrying a stapler.. not easy.
all the instruments/ noises with the exception of the drums are very distracting.

Emergency Pizza Party : liking the name. cool chilling beats... does it go anywhere ?
Ok, now the rapping. liking the lyrics. might have to keep this tune around to remind me why not to get marry. @ 4 minutes a bit long.

The Friedrich Honighosen Project : good experimentation here. a bit avant guard. well done. liked the guitar tone.

Jimmy Jet and His TV Set : intro sounds cheesy.. probably cuz we have all heard it 1000x before. the boys guitar sounds OK, i guess.. there’s parts i like, then the chorus seem like its forced.. and the hand drum throws me off. liked the palm mute strumming. about 60 sec too long.

Melvin : pretty clean track. it lacks something and i wish i could tell you what.
when you double on the vocals makes it a bit more bearable. Everything is great here, just not my style, doesn’t provoke any emotions. just the right length.

Voh : decent guitar intro there. lyrics are ok. a listenable boy/ guitar song. what i enjoyed the most was the lead guitar parts you have there.

__________________________________TRY AGAIN _________________________________

Adnoisium : am guessing you like boring beats... there no dynamics here what so ever. i just don't get it.. sorry.

Bear Squadron : there some creativity here... annoying after :40 secs.

Cranial Biffida : am not a movie buff at all, but whatever movie you sampled there in the intro, sounds worth to watch. as for the music sounds like leftover Halloween music.

neible : hey you must of been added later in the week. i don't remember listening to this before. too much keyboard, not enough ...uhhh.... just plain i guess.

Dangerous : like how the intro keeps me guessing which way the song is going to turn..
Left and it becomes a full-out Jazz standard... or right, and the guitar takes over and makes it into a rock song.
OK, apparently that was not an intro... that was the whole song! as apparently you could not make up your mind to which way to turn, so you kept going straight into ditch called "lame".

Dean Sky : sounds like midi heaven. i don't get any vibe out of this. lacks energy/dynamics. it does have a steady beat though. props.

Our Dog : well at least there was only 3 of this official wedding song intro, in this fight. you did it the best. sounds like another left over Halloween song.

Rone Rivendale : why do people like boring beats? dono. are you rapping or singing? Might have to make up your mind. keep at it Rone.

Yes Yes No, Yes : WTF ?

I know the distortion blows. I have a Pi Big Muff, but I can't use it with my Smokey Amp for some reason, and that Smokey Amp is like ultra gain (a .5 watt amp, yes point5 watt amp that is pretty loud, for .5 amp). I need to get a real amp, or a POD or something. The only distortion control I got is the volume knob on the guitar! I do like the Black Keys a lot, though it wasn't a conscience decision. I'm more looking for the Kings of Leon-type of guitar tone.

To the reviewer who said the song was Jet-ish...THANKS! I'm glad to hear I'm creeping out of the "whatever that was" sound I was going for... :))

Again, if ANYONE wants to provide the music (and lyrics if you choose), I'd love to sing to some real music in callaboration. Klownhole??? it could be fun singing to your stuff....or Paco, or Blakewalker or anyone really!

That actually might work out well for us this week. It's looking like none of our typical vocalist are going to show up tonight. I'll let you know if we generate a song tonight. I also promised Blue he could mix one of our songs. So maybe we could send you a reference track, you can generate an mp3 of the raw vocals I can add to our raw tracks, and ship the whole thing off to Mr. Blue. It's just crazy enough to work.

wedding song reviews

Post by martyr »

Thank Glenny for the Frisbee
What a great starting lyric. "You can be the wrestler". Wow! The lyrics are absolutely amazing.
The mandolin is sweet and romantic. I get goosebumps on the back of my neck listening to this.
The pre-chorus bass melody is so groovy and forms perfect counterpoint with the vocals. The bass/vocal
relationship is really key and this chorus hits it perfectly. Short and sweet, a clear WINNER!

Billy's Little Trip The intro is cool. Doesn't foreshadow the kicking song to follow.
This is so reminiscent of some early Nirvana track off Bleach or something. I like it!
The double bass drum rolls are great during the chorus. PUNK ROCK!

Melvin Another solid rock song. Dual guitar harmonizing bend links?!
The songcraft is solid. Keys and vocals link nicely. The chorus lyrics are prevocative,
albiet perhaps somewhat self-centric for a wedding song. Really good.

Dangerous Smooth feel from the beginning. The jazzy sway of this is nice.
A rich haze of 7th chords and progressive jazz guitar leads.
Is this supposed to be the sound late after the wedding dancing ends? No vocals.

Zipline This is our entry. Glenny's mix mastery pulled together the best little snips
and pieces of about three takes. The prisoner took no prisoners nailing the 7/8 feel that
I suppose Rush has a patent on. It was fun as usual. Glenny's solo bookmarks at the
beginning and end were kind of fun at the time when he busted them unrehearsed,
but sounds like the jury verdict is they should have been chopped.
The middle was the real song we were working on --
with Glenny and the prisoner going off on some Rush tribute flashback,
and I'm filling the gaps where I can with Bass and emo Sunnyday vox.
Thanks for the Cure reference! I loved that band in high school.

Cranial Biffida Dark scary, sinful, techno. Does Marylin Manson sound like this? I not too familiar with this genre.

Bellison Initially sounds kind of Rufus Wainright thing.
Circus organ, heavy steady drums, and a hooky melody on top.
Accordian comes in later, which is great.
One section sounds like a grab from the first Elliott Smith album.
Overall this song is well composed.

Ron Erivendale Monotone mock vocal over the intro of Bizarre Love Triangle. Thump Thump
"You --- are so --- fine". Hand clap Hand clap. Abstract 1 minute weirdness.

Yes Yes No Yes Long synthy organ drone intro. Whine scream through delay pedal. I like the band name. Abstract 1 minute weirdness.

Cynthia Size True funk groove instrumentation over electronic drums.
This is pretty cool. I'm swaying here as I write this.
I like how Cynthia's vocals get echoed in time to the funk and then a synth trumpet
echos in the same rythmic pattern. I bet this took work to do, or you have really refined
your tools. Really Groovy!! What would really lock this one down would be a touch of
emotion lifting pop structure -- perhaps a real catchy chorus melody you could sing along to?
I like the feel of this very much -- you wouldn't want to comprimise that.

Andre was here at midnight Piano and guitar over thumping bass drum. A crackly intense
voice over direct sounding guitar hits. Do you really cut this at midnight? I get the image of
this being generated in a small room with Andre huddled over his four track laying down layer
after layer until the tape run out. Not bad.

Damien Verrett This seems similar to Andre's entry. No drums this time, more reliance on
rhythm guitar to establish time. The vocals are a touch more upfront; telling the story. Large
dead spot in the center. Did the tape run dry? Back into it -- faster; definite speed up.
I used to think speed ups were really cool -- they show the intensity of the song and the artist.
After a brief stint in Hollywood, I discovered that speeding up in a song is interpreted by the
average listener as "Amateur". I still like the technique, but that's something to think about.

Voh Deep acoustic and baratone vocal. The picky guitar lick solo thing is cool. The vocals
are doubled. They may have been better served harmonized (thirds maybe?) Are you seriously singing
about positions and bending? Wow, well we all need to express ourselves.

Deansky This has an interesting feel from the start. The Johny Cash lyrics over a straight
blues bass line but on a chorus guitar work well. Good.

Deux Freres Another blues/rock number. Kind of a polka type 1-5 bass line verse. The chorus
is good. I like that verse 2 you double down on the harmonies. The bridge fits nicely. Solo is
deliberate, controlled, and well played. I like this. Definitely listenable. The lyrical theme is
good too: "if only someone would propose". The longing single women -- ahh.

Our Dog Death metal scream core minute madness.

Emergency Pizza Party Space age sample over interstellar guitar delay. Hip hop rap vox groovin
to the stratosphere. Pretty good production -- even has the prototypical compainin ho sample.
"welcome to hell this is your wedding song." LOL. This is funny. It kicks up a notch after minute 2.
The last verse doesn't quite retain it though. Fun.

Friedrich Honighosen Project This sounds a lot like your entry last week. I think I'm starting
to get the feel for your sound: Sonic Poetry 2050 - create a synth loop that sounds like cashing out at
a cash register, loop it infinitely, hit a long sustained distorted guitar note, and then lay down the
latest greatest themeatic, dramatic, german-accent spoken word poetry.

Jaco Blynn Good intro lick, good drum loop, piano following guitar, layered spoken vocal with
interesting harmonic instrumentation. This is reminding me of Tori Amos or something. The vocals are
obviously male and more of an intense rather than melodic style, so it must be the piano. I can't
place why, but there is something I like about this -- the little 64th note electronic drum rolls, and
the perfect touch of vocal harmonies at just the right places.

jimmy jet and his tv set I was expecting way more entries to do this in the fight --
throwing down typical wedding music into somepart of the song -- in this case the intro.
Sounds like sing/songwriter acoustic/voice + bongos.
The chrous is well crafted, but the bongos don't sound in time with the vocals/guitar.

know hole Soundgarden intro. But Chris's vocals devolve into Know Hole meets the Cult.
The band is solid -- drums, bass, guitar are locked. Abrupt exit.

Glenn Case Good start. The chorus has a great melody and ironic twist. I like the high note on "happy". Rough -- she got married to the other guy. That's worth singing about. The lyrics explore the topic well over a well crafted progression. Solid.

Thanks to everyone for the reviews. I'd like to take a moment to reply to everyone that took the time to offer a comment and or an opinion.
Adnoisium wrote: Billy's Little Trip A bit of hiss/noise here. The vocals are a bit quiet at some points, but overall good. Not my cup o tea, but a good song.
Yeah, I need to take the time to learn how to use a good mastering program one of these days. I love the warmth of keeping everything analog until the absolute last minute that I have to upload to the computer. Tape = hiss
Paco Del Stinko wrote: Billy's Little Trip - Love the intro, bit the main body doesn't disappoint either. Fun, rocking changes and good voice. Bass sounds good if too loud on my set-up here. This is good surf-punk and enjoyable.
Thank you. I'm looking forward to the results of our collaboration on next weeks fight. What I have down so far is rock'n pretty hard. Image
Thanks For The Frisbee wrote:im working on reviews but glenn case and billys little trip are my top two favorites right now.
Two very different styles, so I feel honored to be in your top two picks with the guy I voted for.
wormsweater wrote: BLT – I‘m not hating this song, but I don’t like really predictable and repetitive crash hits. Other than that, a very strong first showing. Hope to hear SOMe more froms you.
Well, that's better then hating, lol. thank you. I've been called a brass molester in the past, so you might be on to my perversion. 8)
spOOn wrote: Billy's Little Trip: excellent drive and feel to this, really god playing and singing, maybe let down by a slight lack of variation (who am I to judge...huh?) but otherwise right up there! good work!
No, that was me playing and singing. If it was God, there would have been more variation :P But thank you.
the_prisoner wrote: Billy's Little Trip - Fairly well recorded, but it sounds a bit too mechanical. A decent cut, but I lost some interest toward the end.
This comment actually inspired me to have a more interesting closing. You'll know what I'm talking about when you hear my dude and catastrophe entry. You might even crack a smile and say to yourself, "self, I made this happen" lol. As far as being too mechanical, that's something I was born with. My Father is German and my Mother is a robot. I got my Dads eyes and my Moms repetitive nature. OiY!
museicalrevolt wrote: Billy's Little Trip- Intro way cool, then I didn't like where it went, and as soon as the vocals kicked in I liked it again. Very Nirvana's sliver (mom and dad went to the show). pretty good overall.
Thank you for liking it overall. I do try to write my songs with emotional changes in them to give them a hook so no one pays attention to my crappy voice, LOL. Oh, and thank you for comparing it to enlightenment, tranquility and peace.
Thanks For The Frisbee wrote: billys little trip- i didnt expect much from the way it starts but you really brought the 80s punk to the party.
i love the energy of this song. you have a great punk voice. i love the hook at the end of the chorus.
another stand out.
Thank you. If I was gay, I'd be sooo into you right now. :)
DeanSky wrote:Billy's - Nice intro. Vocals a bit mousey. Bass and drums very lively.
Thank you.
Bit mousey? I'm assuming you're referring to the dead mouse on the floor with a bite out of it. I can explain that, you see, it's like this, um......*turns and runs out the door*

Thank you. And since you said please, ok. Leader? I'm more of a follower really. Once I followed this one chick everyday for three week, until she got a restraining order. 8)
dre wrote: Billy's Little Trip : good stuff. has the intensity of some early everclear stuff. drums are great. vocals are good, with funny lyrics.
. might be 20-30 secs too long though. top 4.
Thank you. I'm not sure if the 20-30 secs to long is sarcasm because it's such a short song, or you didn't like the last 20-30 seconds. Oh, and thank you for comparing it to early 190 proof grain alcohol.

The double bass drum rolls are great during the chorus. PUNK ROCK!
Thank you. And again, thank you for the enlightenment, tranquility and peace comparison.

If I forgot anyone, thank you too. And all joking aside, I do take note on everyones comments. I'm just the guy making the song, but you are the ones that have to listen to it.
Chris :P
