UkeFight!
Based on the conversation in this thread...
http://songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.p ... 5&start=22
...I'm wondering: how many people are up for a ukefight? Title gets thrown out, one week to turn around the best song featuring a uke that you can, no other string instruments (synth or real) allowed?
I figure if we get ten people who actually have ukes to commit, we'll set a date and a title. Thoughts?

I have a Uke, I'd commit to a fight. Should it be exclusively G and U? I have visions of Uke loops and delays etc. , would that still be in the spirit of the fight?

I might be up for this. Of course, it all depends on time and all that stuff. Right now I'm thinking no, but I think that's just my mood from being ridiculously tired. I'm not exactly enthusiastic about even finishing this sentence right now, so nothing seems like a good idea. It could be interesting though.
Sidenote: Oddly enough, I have a picture of myself playing a uke on myspace and pretty much the only friend requests I get anymore are from bands that are all about ukulele. Most of them are really poppy and way annoying. Whatever.

I’ll be into this. I have an uke in the office I like to annoy my coworkers with from time to time. Am pretty sure mintyHandy would have the best entry, but I can strum a couple of chords and submit something.
I don’t think any other string instruments (guitars/bass.) should be allowed, but percussion, synths , and any other creative instruments can be used.

Okay, I think this is a go. I'm f-ing sleepy, however, and will deal with the date on this in the morning.
I'm gonna stick to my guns on no string instruments other than uke, but whatever you do to the uke is fine; looping, effect pedals, playing with a violin bow, whatever -- and any other non-string instrument is in.
So who generally picks the title in a sidefight like this, when it's not a coverfight?

Your idea - why dont you do it - or pick a suitably random way of coming up with somethingMintyHandy wrote:

Here's a suggestion - to keep this suitably Polynesian - take the first sub-heading from the lead story of the on-line version of Tonga's national newspaper, Matangi:

From todays edition - the title would be "Shooting To Kill"

...oh, and I'm in too

I've got one too that has yet to be recorded. (or learned to play) Seamus also wields a mean uke.

Don't tell my wife, but I think I'll buy a uke and do this.

It's only fair, R -- I just bought an electric guitar for my "A Woman On Paper" entry.
Yeah, that's ABSOLUTELY the way to go. I'll give it a few more days so that people can work on their Pink Ribbon entries, then I'll kick things off. Great, great idea, CR.Here's a suggestion - to keep this suitably Polynesian - take the first sub-heading from the lead story of the on-line version of Tonga's national newspaper, Matangi:
