And now, back to drowning my sorrows. It was a good season, Saints. Thanks for the ride.

Gift of Music
I am really excited to see who is gifting my music selection! GoM is such a fun event! Even if we do always procrastinate till the last minute. (In my case anyways.)
Much thanks to Caravan Ray for adding his time and talent to complete my song! You rock mate!

Rosewood! I'm not allowed to play with glass any more, since that court decision back in '04. Plus, glass doesn't absorb teak oil very well. Which reminds me, I suppose I ought to let Mr. Bangs know where to find my song and stuff. You know, since it's technically a few hours late, even after sixteen hundred deadlines. Have we posted lists for next year yet?Rabid Garfunkel wrote:BZL, fretless? Glass fretboard maybe?

I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry here-- give folks a chance to be a few days late or so before you assume they aren't coming at all. I mean, the site's only been up for an hour or two.GlennCase wrote:We should start a list of people who have not yet been on the receiving end of a GoM song this time. That way, people with free time might choose to record a song for those who have "nothing under the tree."
I am guessing there are quite a few of us this time, based on the number of people who entered versus the number of entries completed.
Not saying it's a bad idea. Just, you want to separate the people who needed a little extra time to finish from those who deserve years of nagging and ridicule.
Also, for what it's worth, the web site doesn't work in Opera either. I'm mostly saying that because I want to sound all uppity because I use an unpopular (and therefore hip) web browser. I sort of remember having some problems with previous GOMs, too. Nothing I couldn't work around; just... inconveniences.

yep - works now - thanks Mr Bangs
...and after a quick listen
Wow! "Man Overboard" by Calfborg!! (+ Jack Shite)! That is sensational!
I didn't think anyone would attempt that one.
One of the greatest feminist anthems ever written - I remember as a teenager going to see Do-Re-Mi many times at the Newcastle Workers Club and standing in the front row lusting for Deborah Conway. Hearing her sing about penis envy and pubic hair on her pillow was enormously arousing - OK, the whole "girl power" thing was lost on me as a feckless 19-year-old - but what can you do? She was hot.
Anyway - that is a great cover version - very true to the spirit of the original.
BTW: Deb Conway has an open offer to come around to your house to play live if you buy 25 number of copies of her latest album. My mates and I are seriously considering it for one of our "old boys" reunions - if we ever do do it - I'll play her this song - I'm sure she'll love it.
(Original version is here if anyone wants to hear it)
