Ok. This was my first collab and it was lots of fun, but in the end I don't think I managed to quite get in the same place as Phil was, musically. On reflection I actually preferred the vocal line on the penultimate version, and if he doesn't mind I'll post a link here so y'all can see what you think.

Doesn't bother me. :)

Glennny - I'm glad you liked the song but Melvin's has a lot more substance, fer sure. Also, that 'KRP closing theme rocks: packed with riffs and start stoppy stuff all in like a minute. I always waited 'til the end of the show to hear it, but I think they dropped it later on. Closing theme to Six Million Dollar Man tears it up too, in a haul-ass disco manner, but wth the prominant theme still on top.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

It does sound like I used a sample of a fart and reworked it into a bass line.

Post by onedumbmick »

beefy with dj snyder - welcome to the 80's
the anarcheologists - like masturbating to the breakfast club......by the way your name sucks
balls to monte - left wrist slit
billy's little trip - rythmic spoken word isn't always good....pretty kick ass grungy solo...it's like a wierd beatnick poem....this song needs snaps at the end...it grew on me though which is why you get the longest review thus far....the little chorus is pretty bitchin....yeah i said bitchin.....rad, right?
booty chesterfield trio - stop making music if you wanna call it that....my dog licks his own balls and i enjoy that sound much better than the crap i just tried to force myself to listen to
dj dickieqwick - you cheated but the intro was pretty slick
flvxxvm florvm - you're wierd with your "horshey squorts in your gim shoyts"
garlick head - hoooray for kazoo's....i wish you could have found a sample of someone saying tw3rp....the voice thing not so great.....
Gert - would be absolutely fantastic if chris cornell could have, in some insanely wierd world where it could have happened, sang this....i completely applaud your talent....and the keys as someone has just informed me sound to be straight out of a kansas song.....lyrics are pretty kick ass though
iNGRUO - you are not the aphex twins
melvin - super catchy guitar......whole song is super catchy....i give it an "a"
paco del stinko - not so much, sir
raspy jasper - sounds like you recorded this on some shitty macbook....
Ross Durand - "WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO! GO!" meets something like the monkeys.....solo caught me off guard just then....i like it....all queeny like and shit
Signboy - 30 seconds.....that's when i turned you off
sockpuppet - HAHA!
Christopher Butt - a little wierd
Tri Minutieux - mmmm sounds and samples
wages of spin - i've ran out of creative insults
WreckdoM vs. Sven - "of a polish persuasion" humored me...it's like a metal version of the intro to M.E.T.H.O.D. MAN.....I like this....kinda cute...i can't take this seriously....it's pretty badass though...i pee'd a lil
Zoosneakers - WHAT IN THE HOLY FUCK WAS THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So these are IMPRESSIONS only. I don't have my headphones with me, so I don't want to give my critical reviews until then. So these are completely subject to change. Oh and I'm a little drunk right now so you probably can't take it seriously. I was listening to these while my brother in law, who is One Dumb Mick, was listening, so if our reviews are the same then uhhh yeah there you go.

Beefy w/ DJ Snyder - Well done rap? AWESOME.

The Anarcheologists - I gave this a bit of a listen, but I was not ever a big fan of the whole 80's thing and this is a little 80's

Balls to Monte - This sounds okay!

Billy's Little Trip - I love this one this week. It is a good song, and made me want to sing over something you played. By that I mean to say LET'S COLLABORATE DOOD.

Booty Chesterfield Trio - Blegh.

Dj Dickie Qwick - I love this, but you totally just threw the title into some samples and called it a song.

Flvxxvm Florvm - Not giving me that Flvxxvm Florvm fix I wanted, and I actually don't like it, but I still like your name.

Garlick Head - I like this. But like Dickie Qwick, you totally just threw that title in there. But I still like this.

Gert - Whoa I did not notice this on the first listen through but those keys are straight out of a goddamn Kansas song. I always love Gert when I hear it. But I'm a jerk that doesn't pay attention to Songfight when he's gone.

iNGRUO - Boo.

Melvin - Melvin you are always Weezer to me. I like it though. I love the melody you chose for the guitar, and the badum bum bums are good. This is the style you guys do the best.

Paco del Stinko - I respect you doing something different but this is awful.

Raspy Jasper - Me and Chris. And fuck that irish bastard above me; I was recording on a PowerBook. That's TOTALLY different.

Ross Durand - This sounds a lot more appropriate for your vocs. Oh man when you do the "tweeeeeeeeerp" thing that is AWESOME. Your harmonies are beautiful. Ross this is a song that I am going to keep. Oh man I can't get enough of your harmonies on this one. Ross I still want to collaborate with you. And Steve. you are both great musicians and I hate you for that.

Signboy - This doesn't compete with some of the heavy hitters of this week. Your vocals are grating. I'll give you some constructive crits later.

Sockpuppet - This sounds like a dick in grandma's ass.

Christopher Butt - Huh. Not touching me in that special, special way like some of these songs.

Tri Minutieux - I really liked this as an instrumental sort of deal.

Wages of Spin - So far not grabbing me, but I'll listen again.

WreckdoM vs. Sven - WreckdoM can insult me any day. In fact Geoff I am coming to your next show and I want you to insult the fuck out of me. Literally. I want to have no desire for intercourse afterwards. Can I take you on a date? Your girlfriend can come. Oh and Sven was good too. I liked the Jesus stuff. I'm putting my dick in this song and raping it until it likes it.

Zoosneakers - Boo again

So you're going to be hostile to an Apple? Just remember not to use too much compression, otherwise you'll need to use a de-cider.
...Oh damn, where do I come up with this stuff. ......I hope you guys are writing this down.

Smalltown Mike wrote: I hate that you didn't give anybody the two-word review: Shit Sandwhich.
That might actually be the etymological roots of the French word "Tabernac" which he flung our way.

It seems like there are a ton of reviews this fight compared to the number of entries. But then, I think that always happens when Gert enters because all 27 of them write reviews. (More power to them, incidentally).
