Not sure what happened, I had mine sent in early Wednesday morning. I hate to miss out on reviews, so here's a link until it's resolved.

I swear your song was in the "stream all" earlier tonight.Dan-O from Five-O wrote:Not sure what happened, I had mine sent in early Wednesday morning. I hate to miss out on reviews, so here's a link until it's resolved.

If I had to make a guess it's either the shock of actually getting a song from me or the lack of experience in handling an entry from me.jeff robertson wrote:I swear your song was in the "stream all" earlier tonight.Dan-O from Five-O wrote:Not sure what happened, I had mine sent in early Wednesday morning. Clearly not an Admin fault.

Thanks. I'm just happy I got one in this week. My mastering on this one is shat unfortunately. I had major computer issues and had to settle about 5 minute before the deadline. I had everything so beautifully separated and mixed. Now it's all compressed and just a wall of sound. Paco did a beautiful bass track, and now it sounds all blended in with no separation.Dan-O from Five-O wrote:Thanks Billy. I'm Rockin' Out to your entry right now. Hopefully your ability to hear the song means it was just an oversight and not a file issue.Billy's Little Trip wrote:Damn, that sounds great Dan-O! Nice recording quality too.
The only thing I like about it, is that it sounds like most of the punk I grew up on. Silver lining I guess.

Nevermind. I'm in, under the heading of "Hoosier Daddy" apparently, and as I've looked at the e-mail I sent for my entry, I can see where the confusion came from. Completely on my end of things.
ADMIN: No need to change it, I'm fine with it as is. Kind of funny actually.

Reviews from the Zocalo, with hotel chocolate and little time -
DJ Big Fanny - I couldn't form an opinion the first listen and I don't really want to listen again. Changing the channel
Klownhole - damn, your voice is great. where did that come from? Love the organ. Unexpected riff makes this rise above. Nice heavy toms pounding and the "fill me up butter cup" change over takes me. Great vocals though. ha! Thank god Tivo records live TV
Melvin - all whiny and alt to the max. This deserves a hit TV show
c hack - that line still works an hour later. its great when sad makes you smile
The Darkest Daves - I like the drone vocals or pads. Long fading movie track goes to black
Ross Durand - liken the raw solos just flailing about. Pleasant but not the best show in this slot
Closest Dark Vepun ind. - I always wanted to invite the high school marching band and wake my mom at 3. yeah, that'll show her, I thought. Then I forgot why. Effective arrangement, but I hear the mariachis channel every day
Shot Pounder - not sure I'm receiving this
Eddie Lance - Is this story going to get sad? That would suck. This was my life. Without the voice over, of course. Oh no, now it gets sad, right? All minor and shite. Oh man, now what did I say? Oh maaaaaaaan
Saint Cale - I love tremolo guitar. The drums sound really dead, but. The vocals got me. That's cool. I'd take a bit of the reverb off, and if you're going to clip the end at least let the reverb fade. I say this with love in my heart and in the context of there should be less reverb so the fade would be quicker. Hope this helps. Nah, where's Hoss?
Billy's Little Trip - man, nicely produced and attituded, and well bassed. This works, I love the bass
Dangerous Croutons - vocals are a bit spread and unfocused. and I can't tell what's being preached. But some nice stuff crawling around in the back
The Hell Yeahs - nice backing vocals in the break chorus place. The guitar doubling verse is good the first time. maybe it could drop out then come back again? Tiring. But that's minor even though I called it out and made it sound like it ruined the song, it didn't. damn
The Be Wells - makes me think like I know what you're singing about, but I can't remember the last line. The little sliding guitar is too regular, should be more irregular. funny how that works
Fine Tuvan Dining - the Roches fired Fripp? the obvious joke makes me laugh

This isn't quite the largest fight (Robot Baby wins that with 32) but this one's still up there, in a three-way tie for second (with goodbye monster and soft orange glow).
Top 7 fights of all time:
The most frequent fight sizes, incidentally, are 11 (42 fights), 13 (40), and 15 (36).
Rule of Thump is the only fight to have 2 entries, though there's a lot with 3, 4 or 5. None have only 1. (That'd be more like a song-beatdown anyway.)

fluffy my understanding was that my (horrible) entry (as abecedarian) was the only one for rule of thump and that JB (Abjure!) wrote something just so I wouldn't win with such a crap song... That's my recollection anyway. So by that logic we'll probably never have a one song fight. Especially if we stick to the one song format.
Incidentally, DJ Big Dick, my lyrics read:
"Whack me all in the side of my head with a 2x4,
tie me up in the back of your truck, oh am I done for?
couldn't have been worse, now, but baby I'm used to it
and I'm blown away...
Now you say that you've got a real solution,
But I think that there's gonna be an execution"
I'm pretty damn proud of those lyrics, especially taken in context with the rest of the song. I can see you don't like acoustic guitars, but leave the lyrics outta this

Drums got the least attention on this one. Poor little bastard stepchild drums, just hanging out in the background, looking forlorn... next time, guys, I swear, I'll make you sound better... where's that Beta52...
Love the BeWells and the Hell Yeahs. Creeps me out that our song and Ross Durand's are so similar in arrangement. I like the sound, tho.
Not inclined to tear apart songs for technical details lately, which leads to - Fine Tuvan Dining! Whee, I like this one. Lofi and wonderful.
31 entries, right on - let's hear it for diversity.

Here's reviews of songs that were particularly memorable to me:
The Darkest Daves - Sounded like a real song I would hear on the radio. Lyrics seemed a very good match to the mood of the song.
Dangerous Croutons - I liked the music, but too little vocals to make it memorable.
DJ Big Dick - Professional sounding, but way too chopped up for me. Sounded like a remix version, but we never even heard the original. The whole thing could have been a big intro to a song. When the next song started playing (I listen on autoplay), I thought "great, the main part of this song finally started" and then it did sound like a typical song, but I realized it was really DooRite + Rankenstein doing the next track.
Melvin - I like the music a lot for the the intro, chorus, and solo part near the end. Somehow though the song does not have a "Couldn't Have Been Worse" feel to it.
Ross Durand - The first part of the song did not hook me in, but once the drums started it became very catchy. Guitar solo did not thrill me, but kept the song moving. The way you sing the words "It Couldn't Have Been Worse" sounds very believable, like you lived it.
Shael Riley - The music/production sounds very professional. Had to listen to it twice to catch all the lyrics, since so much was happening in the story. But, I like that.
The Be Wells - I liked this.
Saint Cale - Good voice.

Puce and Roy! I'm so glad you guys are still around. It's funny, just yesterday I was singing Puce's Fuzzy Logic to myself. And it looks like I've got a Hell Yeahs song to look forward to; and Caravan Ray's still here -- niiiece.
I've been working, mostly. Caught up in the day-to-day minutiae. I'm working as a Flash programmer at Modernista! now. Yep, in the ad biz. Kinda weird, but everyone's really cool here. (We're actually hiring, if any of you guys are producers or interactive designers/programmers. PM me if interested.)
It's really good to be writing again. I almost forgot how much I enjoyed bullshitting with you guys.
