i just watched a really great documentary about Tom Dowd, whom i'd never heard of (shamefully), but have since come to recognize as someone who literally changed the course of recorded music (with les paul) and created arguably some of the greatest recordings in the history of modern music. his resume will blow your socks off. google him. or better yet, watch this special on IFC and Comcast On-Demand (free). Really fascinating to learn the history of studio production and how much Tom Dowd influenced it.
highly recommended. a really fascinating and inspiring guy.
