...and they were bloody fantastic. Absolutely blew me away. If you ever get the chance - you MUST see them.
When I saw the Rolling Stones a few years ago I was amazed at how damn good they were at the whole 'mechanics' of playing rock and roll live. They really knew their trade. The Pixies are almost in the same class.
No other bands I have ever seen have ever come close.
This was the show I went to
Other bands I saw:
Gnarls Barkley were really good
Groove Armarda was a lot of fun - but got a bit repetitive
Jarvis Cocker was OK - but a bit dull - watching him ate into valuable drinking time
Beck was very, very disappointing. He said he had a cold and had spent the day driving up from Sydney. 10,000 people replied in unison - "tell someone who cares, you whiny, little Scientologist bastard" - (I am actually a big Beck fan - but he was very disappointing).
Word on the street was that the NYDolls rocked - but I missed them
I saw the Pixies play last night.....

They'd better know those songs, they've been touring on them for a couple of years straight now! Congrats for seeing what I believe is one of your more preferred bands (first Australia visit, right?). I saw them on the Trompe Le Monde tour many moon ago, but the way they are going, they'll probably be back several times.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Sounds like a great line up. I have seen the Pixies several times, mostly in L.A. clubs before they were anybody. I've only seen them once in a big venue. I've seen Beck at an annual outdoor event called the "KROQ Weenie Roast". It's a local and famous radio station here in Southern California. The weenie roast will generally have about 15 top names and three or four stages. I've gone to 5 or 6 Weenie Roasts.
So John, were all the original Pixie members on stage?
