Guilty, heh. Thought I caught a hint of it for a moment, and looking at your location, hey, got it in one.

Feel free to make fun of my Yankee-Southerner-Midwesterner-Californian-ness

Bliss. Always the perfect nightcap. Thanks for the vote (which I'm assuming had nothing to do with our playing one of your songs on the recent songfight tour... and getting the crowd to sing along with it, as well.)
Holy crap, you did what during what?!! and what happened?!!
Holy Crap, that is so fucking cool. Is there a recording of that?
Wow, Holy Crap.
And no, I try not to let the bias of who my previous favorites are effect my vote for the current fight. A perfect example this week is that I usually really dig Luke Henley but this one wasn't doing it for me, same with Caravan Ray. You sir, however, were in top form. If anything biased my opinion, it's theremin brotherhood. after Nur Ein, I think a dueling theremin entry should be arranged.

Also......Holy Crap.

I'll take that as a no, you weren't aware of it. Alas, no recordings of the Portland or Seattle shows.

It was the Primitive Screwhead cover of Not Exactly Normal, by the way. Reviews from victims:

Aw jesus, I'm getting all misty here, seriously, I am. I, uh, flabergasted. Genuinely touched. Wow.

I think bottom line is my song this week needed an electric dirge behind it. Some major sonic hell. I'm excited to go home in about a week to my gear and a band, because some exciting new shit is on the way. This year I just haven't had the tools I wanted to fully realize my ideas.

Maybe I'm still feeling cocky from last week's win, but I suspect a friend flood has stolen my chance at back-to-back greatness. Monte Carlo can most probably suck it.

Monte Carlo

Post by HamNoBurger »

Not to knock Monte Carlo's entry, but..... well..... I was surprised to see that tune win the fight. I'm new to the scene here - do friend-floods happen often around these parts?

I honestly don't want any of my friends to come here and blindly vote for my entries. Hell, I don't plan on voting for my own entry (unless I truly believe it's the best one). I've listened to all the "Evil April" tracks already, and there are easily at least 6 or 7 tunes that I happen to like better than mine.

It happens off and on. Typically it's noobs who don't know any better. I did it my first time, but I didn't have enough friends for it to matter  I think it was still the most votes (9?) that I ever got.

Welcome to Songfight! Excellent attitude there, sir or madam.

Friend flooding tends to happen with new fighters, it's their first entry and they've got a hard-on to beat everyone by any means necessary. But it's a sour victory, as their friends quickly get tired of voting for utter crap, and the new fighter fades away once more honest voting of their work starts happening in their second, and if they last that long third fights. Unless they get the light of the religion of Songfight in their souls. Gabba gabba hey.

Death, taxes, and friend flooding. It's like cats and the weather.

Gratz, Monte Carlo.

I was a bit surprised that Melvin didn't take this (in a landslide), but I would have ranked M.C.arlo second or third.

I have a sudden urge to drop "Ham No Burger" in favor of "The Chris Tucker's Penis Project". (but I won't)

I have to agree. "The Chris Tucker's Penis Project" makes "Ham No Burger" sound like "ABBA"

I just remixed my entry for this, for inclusion on my soon to be completed album (recording finished - gone to the mastering studio today) - and I realised that I was actually singing "sub-paragraph b)", not "d".

My entry is a sham. A fraud. And I apologise most sincerely to the one person that voted for me for my unforgivable deception.

My song will be re-titled Clause 5, Sub-Paragraph b) for the album.
