Well Melvin requested that I talk about what happened with my move to California from Kansas earlier this year. I was gone from SongFight for a little more than 2 months and when I returned I didn't exactly say anything about it I just start submitting again.

As I said before I left, I met this woman online about 3 1/2 years ago. We had been a couple on and off over that period of time. Last November she came to Kansas for 6 days to meet myself and my parents. Everything was perfectly fine up to that point.

At the end of January I left SF and Kansas to move to Cali and live with her and her kids. (3 living with her, 2 with her ex and another with her Mother the childs Grandmother.) The 1st 3 weeks I lived in a Motel on my own while she was waiting on a Low Income Apartment. And up to THIS point everything was perfect too.

So in the middle of February the 4 of us move into the apartment and pretty much at that point is when everything went downhill. Before I moved we had made an agreement that she would work a full time job and my job would be to take care of the housework and take care of the 3 kids who lived with us. I was fine with that, I have experience as a DayCare Teacher so I'm great with kids. The problem started when she changed her mind and not only wanted me as the housekeeper and babysitter but work a full time job myself in addition to that.... which I did. She went to work and then came home and played World of Warcraft while I got a job at McD's and came home and took care of everything for her while she played WoW. There was no romance (or anything else relating to that) once we moved into the apartment. She just became a completely different person. When I finally spoke up about the way things were going, she kicked me out. (and moved another guy in 2 days before I left.)

Now, before I moved there she made a promise that if things didn't work out that she woudl pay to send me back to Kansas. Long story short, she didn't. My parents had to borrow money from one of my Mom's brothers so I could take a series of buses and trains from Cali to KS (couldn't fly cuz I was kicked out and couldn't wait 2 weeks to get a low airfare).

I ended up on a 30 hour train ride from L.A. to Garden City, Kansas on my friggin Birthday.

That's the story. I got royally screwed over.

Damn Rone. That's rough.

Well, I hope you learned a couple of things from it- like never go from just a few real life dates to moving in. Good things come to those who wait.

But why weren't you the least bit weary when she said that she had 6 kids and was looking for a place to live BUT still had time to have a lavish online relationship and play many many hours of WoW. Can you see where you missed the flashing lights that said "This may go bad. Abort! Abort!"?

Ah, damn! That's a terrible story, m'boy! I agree with Niv that there are some valuable life lessons to be learned from this, but talk about a harsh education. I'm really sorry it didn't work out. I, uh, used to be a real romantic myself, so I was pulling for you.

You know what would be awesome? If you sued her on Judge Judy. I'm serious. You'd have a chance to recoup some money while also dealing this wretched woman the public humiliation she so richly deserves. And the best part is all your Songfight brothers and sisters would get to watch!

I wondered what happened with all that. I didn't want to risk treading on your toes by asking what happened, but I was very curious.

I'm sorry to hear that it didn't go well. But, you know, things could have gone much worse. (At least you didn't marry her or have a child with her!)

Kudos for taking the risk and giving this relationship a shot -- and Kudos on getting out of the situation when you realized it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. It isn't easy to do either of those things.

As trite and tired as it is, I really believe the "better to have loved and lost" credo.

...And as CR says, you have at least an albums' worth of country songs as a result. You've got the requisite train, the woman who done ya wrong... is there any way you can work a dog equation?

In any case, I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out. Now go learn how to fingerpick a banjo.

I can't remember what I said when you had the thread about you leaving SF to move to Cali, but I'm sure I didn't like the sound of it, even if I may not have said it.
Also, anyone that says they've been a couple on and off for 3 1/2 years "online" concerns me deeply.

But regardless Rone, I'm sorry things did work out for you. But you received a Birthday gift this year that can't be purchased for any mount of money. A life lesson.
.......oh, and your freedom from the bullet you dodged, ......but mostly a life lesson.

Online girlfriend - While not always a bad thing...could still be flagged.

Why didn't you settle on PART TIME? (she must have been pretty)

And explains why she is a single mom with 6 kids. Just be sure to learn the lesson from this. (and be glad you were not the dad of #7...you're not right? Watch out..she'll probably claim that next... have DNA standing by)

I'm not picking on you. As a matter of fact, I admire you as a risk taker. I have never felt passionately about something or someone to go out on a leap of faith. I'm too safe these days. I admire you for putting yourself out there and trying for one of the ultimate ways to indulge in romance.

I'm sorry that your experience went so sour.

Hey, thanks for the support. I appreciate the sympathy and stuff. I didn't know what to expect when I layed it all out there for anyone to come along and read.

I have learned to be more careful when it comes to putting all my eggs in one basket. However I can't say I would never take on another net girlfriend. Although if I ever did, I would make her move to Kansas cuz I would never move out of state for anyone ever again.

As far as the country songs go

I hate country. But I get what you guys meant by it.

Don't know what else to say other than thanks for the replies. (and keep Denyer out of the topic! lol)
