Just so you know, this from your website, is really going to piss people off:
"My side project, Soundscape Rebellion, has entered a song in the current battle at SongFight.org
Dez and I would appreciate it if you went to the website and voted for it!"
People like when the best song wins, not the best pimped song.

Punk rock is for children. Grab a six-pack at Half-a-Dozen Records.

woops.
while i do argue that i was not "pimping my song"...
i do concede that the post in question could have resulted in an unfair advantage.
we fixed the post.
apologies.

It was not my intention to call Mr. Suits' voting request lame, but rather the Sploink/CSL request for votes. I should have either phrased it better or just butted out, and am sorry to have upset anyone. I look forward to both parties entries and regret that I don't have a song for this fight for them to critique. I may not be the best fighter here, but I like the idea of a fair fight and all that. KO? Now fight!

Jesus Christ people.
Here is an actual answer to your question. I know, it is amazing that anyone here has actually heard of your crappy little home town, but if you keep trying those one-in-a-million shots you're bound to get lucky eventually.
There ain't much for you locally unless you want to do covers, especially since Evos Arts packed up and left. You should try asking around JUL, though. I haven't been there in like fifteen years (It's in Fox Hall's basement, right?) but it should be a good place to get information.
If you want to try to move towards the city then Skybar in Somerville is a good place to start. Or just stick to private house parties; you'll get paid better.

Thanks for re-focusing, Bzl. You are correct too, of course.
As a native and regular visitor to the Merrimack Valley (I jam in hometown Haverhill a couple of times a week) it is pretty safe to say that original music does not have many outlets in which to perform. Covers make the money in a very blue collar area. I say this respectfully, of course. I'm not being a wise-ass when I suggest doing the leg work yourself by phoning/e-mailing/walking into and inquiring at every potential spot. Or re-arrange your sound and do the open mic nights. But even the closer you get to Boston, you'll have to bust ass to play opening slot on a Wednesday night new music night. This is not to say don't do it though. In the fall, make the most of the student population in either city as well.
I have been to the Evos, but couldn't remember the name - I kept thinking of those funny Eros signs I saw long ago in Frankfurt. Different kind of entertainment. Anyway, good luck!

thanks for the feedback, sorry about the controversy.
we've played fox hall once or twice. the crowds aren't that enthusiastic.
i've actually never even attended a show there where people were enthusiastic. i'm not sure if the music scene is dead around here or what.
disappointing, but thanks for the help.

Well, of course not. I'm just sayin', there's a decent-sized college radio station in the building that might be a good place to do some networking.Sploink_Records wrote:we've played fox hall once or twice. the crowds aren't that enthusiastic.
Lowell isn't dead but you have to remember it's pretty small so you aren't gonna find much.
