I feel you my friend. This little ditty I'm working on, so badly needs some crunchy riffs. I'm even avoiding artificially doing it with my bass to stay true to the challenge. It will be different, that's all I can say. OY! :?

I've never had Carne Seca in a Chimichanga before, but fuck, why not. The only way I've had it is served on a big plate amongst a table with lots of warm tortillas and side stuff like rice and beans, etc. Chimi's are much more convenient.

Well, this morning it was 17C (degrees Celcius.. so... 64 Fahrenheit?) which is pretty damn cold. Especially considering is was 40C here two weeks ago.

Of course, Sausage Boy lives in South Australia, which is down near Antarctica. No such frostinesss here in beautiful Queensland. Now winter has started it is pretty much 25 deg.C and clear blue skies every day. Though as I type there is a strange thing happening - water is falling from the sky!! Bizarre! (We are in the middle of the biggest drought in Qld's recorded history. It is predicted that Brisbane's resevoirs may be completely empty by next year. A city of over a million with zero water. What fun! We may have to start drinking salt-water, like the South Australians do)

Desalinization is such a simple thing. I don't know why it's not done more. Well, other than expense.

I bought food, but that's usually all that I buy on the weekends. I don't really buy that much stuff in general.

It's pretty weird, going back and seeing posts that old. For instance, when this thread was created, I was interning at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History for minimum wage, while working part time at RadioShack to supplement my income. I hadn't checked Songfight in quite some time, probably not since my last fight, which had been "Rhymes with Lucia."

I'd spend all day at work bored and surfing the web, but for some reason, it wouldn't occur to me to start lurking (and eventually posting and submitting songs again) on Songfight for another six months or so.

That summer I was working 60-75 hours a week, and managed to be relatively happy. It was still another two months before Allyson and I adopted the first four degus.

...That was a fun nostalgia trip.

The drought did not break in June 2007. For Brisbane, that took another 6 months or so.

ENSO moved out of El Nino in mid 2007 and started turning La Nina late in Nov/Dec 2007, leading to widespread flooding in Brisbane in early 2008. Water restrictions are still in place in Brisbane, though they have been reduced to "Medium" level. Large areas of central and wetern Queensland were declared free from drought in April 2009. As of June 2009, 41% of Queensland remains drought declared.

Last month the Southern Oscillation Index was negative again for virtually the first time since I made that post. One negative reading does not necessarily mean we are heading into El Nino territory again, but....
