My first thought was for A-ha - Take On Me - this was the coolest video ever, in 1985... the combination of animation and live was very cool. I'm sticking with that.

In fear of turning this thread into a 'cool videos' thread:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe6p-5tUh3M" target="resource window">Eagles of Death Metal - I Want You So Hard</a>
and blast from past. While not the actual original video for the song... it's still really awesome.
<a href="http://www.koreus.com/animation/radiohead_creep.html" target="resource window">Radiohead - Creep</a>
It takes a while to load and if you are technically inclined...you can view the source and figure out how to download it instead.

I think my fave video (I don't watch much videos) is "Why Can't I Be You" by The Cure. What is going on there? I could write a thesis on it, if I could write and I had any need to write a thesis. It's cool because it's so insane. Every time I see it, I think, "Man, I need to start a Cure tribute band but we only have this one song." Because I don't want to be Robert Smith with a can of hairspray and red lipstick, I want to be Robert Smith as a half-assed furry.

Whatrya? by TISM, one of my favourite clips. Also, Defecate on my face by TISM (no actual defecating in the clip) and Windowlicker by Aphex Twin have always rated highly.

I don't know much about Eagles of Death Metal, but the drummer looks like the singer in Queens of the Stone age and I thought I recognized a few other faces too, like the bald dude looks like the guitar player from the Earthlings. Plus that was for sure Jack Black as the bar tender.Hoblit wrote:In fear of turning this thread into a 'cool videos' thread:

I love music videos, but I haven't seen very many lately. One of my faves was the Bros. Quay doing Michael Penn's "Long Way Down." Actually, come to think of it, Michael Penn's "Try" directed by Paul Thomas Anderson is also great...one long continuous shot. It's a bonus on the Boogie Nights DVD, where I recommend you see it ... instead of the shitty quality stuff I'm finding on the internets.

Yeah, I believe the drummer is the singer from Queens Of The Stone Age. Jack Black and Dave Grohl are both in that video. The lead singer of that band is actually a drummer of another band. (I want to say the steady drummer of QotSA but I know they have revolving drummers) I think that Dave G with the wig looks like Adam Goldberg...and I giggle a little to myself.Billy's Little Trip wrote:I don't know much about Eagles of Death Metal, but the drummer looks like the singer in Queens of the Stone age and I thought I recognized a few other faces too, like the bald dude looks like the guitar player from the Earthlings. right, I wasn't confident about that...I do know that the lead singer is a drummer for another band. Thats all the info I have right now.Phil. Redmon. wrote:nope.Hoblit wrote:I want to say the steady drummer of QotSA
EDIT: I take this back, I've been going on what our guitarist said...and it appears that he is wrong.

I thought Dave Grohl looked familiar too, so I Googled Adam Goldberg to see if you were right, and yep, that's the guy I was thinking of too.Hoblit wrote:Dave G with the wig looks like Adam Goldberg...and I giggle a little to myself.
Also, I looked up the wiki for The Eagles Of Death Metal, and sure enough, the guitar player is Dave Catching from the Earthlings.
Members:
Jesse "The Devil" Hughes
Dave Catching
Gene Trautmann
Brian "Big Hands" O'Connor
Josh "Baby Duck" Homme
Something else caught my eye. As I was reading Josh Homme's wiki, I noticed he is also the founder of the Dessert Sessions. I was just talking to someone about Ween, and low and behold, Dean Ween is in the Dessert Sessions line up, as well as a few other cool peoplez. Nifty.
