"New Return"
Are they SF'ers, or are you Pumpkin Buzzard? That is a killer song! I love it.
Thanks BLT! Niv's got it. I just mixed it last night trying out some eq and other things. By the way, there's plenty more of our songs available on somesongs if you click on "Pumpkin Buzzard" on the song page. Or just click here.

Pumpkin Buzzard has been in 8 Songfights, too.

I am digging the Pumpkin Buzzard song, particularly since I just got into Old Ramon by Red House Painters.

I just finished a Carpetburn track I started for FAWM, it's called If I Don't Who Will?

I stole a Luke Henley lyric for the first 3 lines, I hope he doesn't mind, but I really liked the lines and they fit nicely.

Really cool track FP, listened thrice and really connected third time, really soaring, and I'm loving the handclap, quiet bit between 1:50 and 2:15, it's a shame you never did the whole FAWM thing.

New CD

Post by maasman »

Thought I'd stop by and mention I have a new CD out. A couple tracks were ones I wrote for SongFight! last year, in fact. You can download most of the tracks from my site.

http://www.michaelmaasmusic.com/magellan-and-pele-cd

Maybe now that's finished I will have time to jump once more into the SF breach.

Stay cool SFers.

Cheers! especially for listening again, one day I'll nail the instant appeal thing. As for FAWM, I tried but y'know, jut didn't have the legs for it I guess. Maybe next year. At least I got a couple of cool ideas out of it, can't ask for more than that.

Hey man, props to that. You owned those lines, they did somehow fit perfectly. Great song, I love the chorus. After Nur Ein, I think we ought to record an EP together. At least.

Just me goofing around last night. I was playing solitaire, and I thought... "fuck it man, record something". So I did.

Eric B

Post by MC Eric B »

Yes, it is very funny the old rapper Eric B (with Rakim) has a 21 year old song called Eric B Is President, because I think that is total coincidence. I have never heard that song before, and until recently had no idea it even existed. I created my song because the guy who animated my first 2 music videos (Pimp My Sleigh and Hip-Hop Hanukkah) suggested I write a song about being president. So, I wrote one. He is only 20 so I doubt he ever heard the old song.

I am 20 also so I probably have never heard it. The real Eric B is iconic in hip-hop music, which is why we know about his 20 year old song. Using his name is shit all the time, but I think situations like this show how shit it is. Your name is different to his because it has an MC in front of it. Why does it have an MC - to show a connection to hip-hop culture. If you had any respect for hip-hop you would be using a different name. Clearly you don't so a) you are a wanker and b) you shouldn't be using the MC title. Then you'd be using the exact same name, but you wouldn't be an impostor in hip-hop, so who gives a shit.

My real first name is Eric and my last name starts with B, so I think I have a right to use MC Eric B since the more famous Eric B is no longer putting out music (as far as I know). Also, while many younger people have heard of the other Eric B, I don't think they have ever heard his "Eric B is President" song. I have never heard it myself.

I did read the lyrics to "Eric B is President" today (I searched in Google), and it has nothing to do with politics or with being President of the United States, like my song does, plus I don't think I sound at all like him so there is little risk of people confusing our music.

wooooo hooooo. mc fight!!!!! personally, i enjoy mc eric b's tunes much more than mc paul deyner's. obviously, if anyone from songfight's songs were going to be relevant 20 years from now, they wouldn't be on songfight...they be on fucking ringtones and shit tv shows.

oh, and deyner, you spelled "theif" wrong in your profile under occupation, unless that was on purpose, which would be pretty sad.

I think I am going to start a band called The Drifters. Not many young people have heard of them, and I've always wanted to write a song called "This Magic Moment", especially since the old Drifters song (which nobody has heard of) isn't even really about witchcraft or magic. I think I can call my band The Drifters because I have moved around alot, so it is accurate. There is little risk of people confusing our music.

Geez, "Paid in Full" went fucking platinum, moron. "Eric B is President" was THE single. Ignorance is disrespect. I actually feel sorry for Russell Simmons' lawyers who will have to send you the cease and desist order.
