If we just end up getting space... I've got equipment, we'd just have to figure out how to get it up there. I wouldn't put 450 miles of faith in my car.
I wasn't able to buy airline tickets today/yesterday because my direct deposit didn't go through and I have to physically deposit my pay check. So, I'll be holding off on plane tickets 'till about Tuesday or Wednesday.

It's too bad I can't make it, my parents live in Atlanta and could probably spare sleeping space for 4-5 people.
I would like to recommend the Sweetwater Brewing Company's evening tours & tastings, though, if people have time and transportation.

Where was everybody? I was there last week. Wait, August what?
I assume this is the Sweetwater they're selling at Turner Field? Yummy. Of course, so was the Tomahawk Ale...soda wrote:I would like to recommend the Sweetwater Brewing Company's evening tours & tastings

Moving to Austin in a couple days. This increases my chances of being able to attend this year (I'd hate to miss a year, despite not having entered a songfight in at least that long). But the company I'm going to work for has a major milestone due at the end of August, so it may not be possible to step out in the middle of the month. But the first day of SFL is my birthday! I will try!

There used to be warehouse space available in the east side of downtown (near the city jail) folks would rent for parties. NOW, that was a long time ago but it's at least a place to look into... Of course, I don't know what it looks like down there, if it's gotten better or worse.jb wrote:Still working on the venue. Lemme know if you have any ideas.
Might be ISP here in the EAV, if I get lucky. They seem sort of interested.

might be worth posting something over here, saying you're looking for a venue looking to host lots of thirsty people from out of town with fat wallets. free music provided.
never know, you might get to choose even.

For somebody who (sorta) lives in Atlanta I'm pretty out of the loop with respect to the night life. back when I used to be able to get out, the places I remember were the Star Bar, the Earl and the Echo Lounge, all of which I assume are still open. I also remember the MJQ Concourse, which I believe is long gone.

I don't know if anybody's mentioned this (I'm not planning to attend, so I haven't been following the thread), but American Idol auditions are scheduled in Atlanta on August 14th. They're also still looking for a venue...

As long as the venue is NOT on some kind of Peachtree road, we should all be able to find it just fine.

No, if it were on Peachtree St. It would be easy to find. That would be the main drag that runs directly center through the city.dre wrote:jb wrote:Still working on the venue. Lemme know if you have any ideas.

WHAT I THINK YOU MEANT was as long as it wasn't on any given road with the name Peachtree in it because there are tons of Peachtree named roads in Atlanta. Peachtree St. Peachtree Rd. Peachtree Industrial, Peachtree this that and the other thing...
Just a former Atlantan giving you a hard time.

Apparently so far under the ground that non-hipsters like me don't even know about it anymore. I thought I remember reading an article about its demise in Create Loafing.. oh, four or five years ago. Guess that was a smokescreen to keep out the riffraff.Hoblit wrote:Is MJQ still under ground?jb wrote:Echo is closed. MJQ is still open.
