It's June 26, and I'm waiting for a UPS package. I've got some new cables and stands and whatnot coming, and they should finish off the recording setup. Hopefully. Then, by God, work on the album begins in earnest.
QotD: Do you have a favorite sports team?
I'm a long-suffering fan of the New Orleans Saints (NFL). We survived Mora, we survived Ditka, we had a brief bit of sunlight (and a huge storm) with Haslett, and now with Payton at the helm and Brees behind center, things are looking better than ever. Geaux Saints!

Another work day. Uneventful except that I'm getting lazy and that sucks.
qotd: Whatever city I'm living in's football team. I loved the falcons when I lived Atlanta, even went to the Superbowl and lost. Chandler had a good season.
Now of course, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Went to the Superbowl since I lived here. WON. Brad Johnson had a good season.

QotD: McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 team. About the only sports I watch with any regularity is (are?) the F1 Grands Prix races, which mostly come on Sunday morning at 5 a.m. here (the ones in Europe and Africa, anyway). I used to like F1 back when I was a kid and you didn't find out who won the races in Europe until Dad's Road & Track magazine showed up about two months later... now they're carried live on cable TV.
That said, I may go over to my mom's house this evening to watch the Diamondbacks game with her, but no promises. If I do, it'll be to give the dogs an outing and for relaxation purposes rather than any sort of sports fanismo.
Finally got the Mrs. off on her trip to California, so I'll have some home alone time for recording or whatever for the next week and a half or so. Today has kinda been declared a day of rest: I woke up this morning and realized that I wasn't even aware of how downright exhausted I've been lately. My legs hurt, my head hurts (maybe dehydration) and I've also been battling a really painful cold sore the past few days. If it's not baseball tonight, it'll probably be about 7:30 bedtime...

The Newcastle Knights. I cried the day Joey Johns retired.
As a kiddie I barracked for the Many-Warringah Sea Eagles, but as a native Novocastrian - I quickly dumped them when the Knights entered the competition in 1988. I also still retain soft spots for the North Queensland Cowboys and the South Sydney Rabbitohs from having lived quite a while in both Mount Isa and Redfern respectively.
(And yes - I understand no one has any idea what I am talking about - even the other Australians here, who are all stupid southerners who don't even know what "football" is - they think that it has something to do with a big mob of nancy-boys dancing around in their little sisters shorts - Brisbane Lions - what a pack of jokes - send those clown back to whatever gaybar they came from...)

Surfing:
Dean Morrison (Aussie)
Kelly Slater (USA)
By the way, while I was looking for youtube clips for the above, I came across this one for Spy+ sunglasses, and the singer in the song sounds just like Luke Henley. Does anyone know who this band is? Modest Mouse maybe?
edit: Also, I love the F1 too Charles, as well as other auto racing, boat racing, motocross.
edit 2: I better add the Anaheim Ducks (NHL) because they are making us proud this year.

I think that i have previously made my hatred for all sports known. Even motor sports, fuck, how is that even a sport? If there is motor sports, there should be something like digital sports, or console sports. Now there is some sports I could get into.
The closest I get to sports of any kind is that I play tabletop wargames. But, I am also a massive nerd, so there you go.

I don't like sports, but I have been to see the Angles, the Dodgers, the Lakers, the Timberwolves and the Twins. I had fun at all of those games, but I hate sports on TV, especially football. Yuck!
So today at work I was in an all day training session to be a super user for the new Peoplesoft thing-a-ma-jig that will be launching in January. It was pretty cool to see how the new system will work and my friend Katie was giving the presentation. I'm proud of her for all of the incredibly hard work she's put into the whole deal.
When I finally got back to my desk, I still had to dis-enroll some people and the unprocessed documents were through the roof, so I decided to stay late and earn some overtime (while I still can, before I get the new job!) I left work at around 6:45 and had a nice and easy drive home.
I was driving down my own street, just houses away from our own, when some idiot opened his car door and hit my passenger side mirror. It is now cracked and kinda falling off. I got all of his insurance info, etc. He's not even from here, but from Texas. I called my insurance company as soon as I got home to file the claim. Now I have to call around to auto body shops to find out when I can get the car fixed and how long it will take. Shouldn't take too long I'd think.
I just hate dealing with mechanics or auto body guys, they treat women like shit. Luckily we found a good mechanic who is straight up honest. But this whole auto body thing turns my stomach.

I like the olympics, monster trucks, and whoever is behind.
I'd have to say that my favorite team is the Minnesota Twins, 'cause they announced their Superbat win over the grocery store intercom that one time.
Back when they won the Superbat.

Yeah, I generally root for whoever is losing, until they turn it around.
I don't take in much sportery, if I can help it, but sometimes I'll get swept in to FootChamp or Superbat frenzies.
Sometimes I'll even tune in to a HoopToss or PuckSmack challenge for a few minutes.
Also, it's not team based (exactly) but I've watched a few rounds of Operation:Left Turn with m'boy.
My favorite is the olympics, though. I watch as much of that stuff as I can. Curling, ski jumpin' weight liftin, ring hangin', horse pommelin', slide downin', all that jazz is number one.
Recently I have wondered why there is no battle of the bands on television, why there is no live music channel, why virtuoso guitar doesn't have its own X-games, why there aren't coffee shops with indoor playgrounds (or, rather, more indoor playgrounds that don't involve fries or the mall), why they don't make 20 dollar featureless cell phones, and if I should buy some bacon when I stop for milk on the way home tonight.

You are absolutely correct. Short, ugly, European men dressed like spacemen driving round and round in circles quickly and ejaculating with champagne bottles is not a sport.sausage boy wrote: Even motor sports, fuck, how is that even a sport? .

Ok, I have to admit, when ever the Winter Olympics is on, my father and I both sit down and watch the Curling. I gotta admit to having mixed feelings about golf. Fun to play, I like the idea of sending that tiny ball through space and all that, but the pros and country clubbers that represent it are the same people that are running and ruining the world. Or at least their corporate sponsors are. Can't argue against it not being a sport, as it could probably be better labeled as a game.
My dad was a golf nut and it is through him that I picked up a liking of the game. I learned how to play in the high desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here's a place where you see little to no water, the city sits atop an aquifer, yet there are lush fields of green with folks strolling about swinging clubs around? Same time, it sure was fun to walk around swinging a club. Like smoking when you know it's bad for you.
Auto racing: ban it. Especially NASCAR. Glamorized bootleggers noising it up and polluting the world in the name of Jesus. I'll help turn the golf courses into farms when NASCAR stops.
Sausage Boy is right, that curling is something compelling, isn't it?
