Hey everyone,

I'm having a so/so day so far. I have been hating my job greatly lately because it's an office that runs on malice. And after a while that gets to you. Plus, I'm down because I was looking over my Septemberian (my serial/novel) stuff and I have been wanting to release the story soon in 10 page chunks/chapters. But upon re-read, I don't like how the first few chapters would end. They would end on flat points. So I need to rework things and that's a little annoying.

QotD: Bands and collaborations come and go. Are there any musicians from your past bands/collaborations that you wish that you could work with again?

My early college life included a band called Fearofsleep. Fearofsleep included a wonderful girl by the name of Faryl. Faryl was an amazing creative dynamo and I'd love to work with her again if we ever had the chance. But alas, just like when we were a band, she's the busiest bee in the hive.

Not a collaboration, but I would like to record more songs by my friend Bryan (playing the engineer).

Also, j$ and I have not done a song together in ages, and Niv too (haha).

Gonna have to think about the QotD a bit... I'm mostly a DIY multitrack guy these days, and I really haven't been in very many bands in the past. There is (was?) a guy named Ron Philastre who I did some stuff with around 1975; the band broke up because he was getting into some new church that was really important to him. The only reference I've ever been able to find to him was something about "ex-cult member Ron Philastre..." Mostly I'm just curious about whatever happened to him, though he did write some pretty good songs, too.

Speaking of which: it about killed me, but I managed to do an AAD yesterday (mixdowns this morning after a few hours' sleep, but still within the 24-hour limit).

King Arthur: For Dummies

I'd like to get some cover art together and proof the lyric files a bit before I tell CrapArt about it, but there's what I was able to do in 24 hours. Umm, if you hate KA songs, you'll really hate this stuff, and "Nothing and Nowhere" is, in particular, one of those very self-indulgent songs about "I have nothing to write a song about." If they didn't have a rule about not tossing out anything you start, I'd drop that one; I wasn't keeping track of elapsed time while working on this, so I did six songs to make sure I had my twenty.

Anyway, give it a listen if you're interested... oh, yeah, in order to put this on my site, I had to get rid of all the old hxaro songs that were still on there, so if you're linking to any of those, they're gone now. (This is why I keep suggesting that SF should host selected coverfight songs & stuff, though I understand why they keep telling me "no.")

I've been pretty mellow about my job lately, because I've given up caring and I have several escape routes available. Paradoxically this has made me much more productive.

I've been absent from this forum lately, but it seems like the Roll Call thread has been a little slow recently, so I'm gonna post. I haven't felt like posting for the past week or so because I've got a lot on my mind that really shouldn't be talked about with strangers... anyway, on to the QotD:

I would love to work with Vlad Smut and the Swanks again, especially our drummer Lenny Voodoo. Phil and I have recently been back in contact with him, so someday maybe it will happen. He lives in Michigan, so he's not too horribly far away.

Yesterday was kinda blah for the most part, but then seeing the fireworks was fun. Phil worked until 5 am Tuesday night /Wednesday morning then stayed up and got the kids breakfast to let me sleep. When I got up he went to bed and slept for most of the day. We managed to get ready to go by about 8:30 pm and got to the park in Roseville about 45min before the fireworks started. The kids loved 'em and that's all that matters. I had to work today, so getting to bed last night at close to 1am was not the best, but I survived.

This is a proud day for Northern California!! Jack and Blue know what I'm talking about. America just regained the belt for the most hot dogs eaten in 12 seconds and we owe it all to a guy from San Jose, woo hoo. He beat that little Asian guy by 3 hot dogs. (barf)

That's an easy one for me. Our bands name sake, Billy Anderson. He was taken from us way too young from a drug overdose. Billy's Little Trip was formed by our bass player Edgar, and myself after his death. Then shortly after that, the song "Little Billy's Trip" We were a great team and we wrote and played together as if we were sharing the same mind.

I really enjoy the whole band of Edgar, Lindsey, Gary and myself. We've all shifted around and found a great unity together. I just wish they'd get into this computer thing, but they hate it.
I really enjoy the collaborations I've done with people here and want to keep doing them, it's fun. Who in the world would have ever thought that I'd have horns in one of my songs? I love the computer thing.

The Olivegrower magazine if off to print, finally! What a fucking epic that was. And it only ended up being two days behind schedule. Not bad, considering I started working on it a week late. Now I have way too much other stuff to do, and less time to do it in.

QotD:
I really liked working with Sam and Laurie on Jonny Juice & the Good Time Boys. Sure, a lot of the stuff was extremely bad, but it was a lot of fun creating that extremely bad stuff with them.

I can't see a reformation any time soon. Sam's on drugs and Laurie is married. I honestly don't know which one is worse.

I know what it's like to have your life, heart, soul and money sucked out of you by a sick habit that you know is killing you but you just can't break away from.

I've never tried drugs though, so it's hard to compare...

Back from vacation and right back out the door. I'm headed to Hampton Beach, to play a show tonight at the Boardwalk Pub. It's right next to the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, and I'm on from 9 to 12:30, doing old man bar band stuff. C'mon down!

Jim - So it's bad enough that I've not come to see you play in what is basically one of the smaller states in the union, but now I see that you pretty much came to me and I didn't go see you play. I am ashamed and can only plead ignorance. I see on your page that you're coming back late in the month so I will ink it into my calendar. Again, so sorry. How did it go, though? Anything decent down there?
