Do you complain about typos in lolcats pics, too?
you're assuming that it was a typo.
i'm assuming a complete lack of knowledge of the broad strokes of world history was at play here.

never heard of lolcats before so i googled it.
i recognized one of the pics from a songfighter avatar.

a couple threads ago i.p. was complaining about where the proper placement of a period is when quotation marks are involved. that one went on forever.

I don't think it was a typo, I think it was a joke, one that you are completely missing because you feel that it's important be factual when making stupid captions for pictures on the internet.

Wtf? I thought this was a bottomless pit in ancient Sparta? What's next? Are you gonna tell me that the Santa whose knee I sat on last Xmas, is really just some dude dressed up in a Santa costume? Or that the easter bunny doesn't really lay eggs? or creme eggs? And the tooth fairy was really my mom? It's just too much for me to handle, this is really just pushing me over the edge.

wtf

And here I was, thinking that an ottoman was something you kick your feet up on when you're ready to sit back and relax, maybe watch a movie, read a book, receive a special gift from a special someone, etc.

Oh my god I've just written half of my song. It's a stonker I'm very proud of and I'll make special care this time that it will play for everyone. The lyrics make no real sense but are about the footstool type of ottoman. They are inspired though I feel and may even post them on the lyrics board.

Also, please stop bitching about Istanbul people, it's tres uncool.

Yeah, this used to bother me too, but nowadays I don't care because I'm not going to take the time to listen to it. At least he was nice enough to warn us beforehand that he had a lot of other important things to do this week, or something.

Really, dude. I would say 300 was a reasonably popular movie. Anyone could quote the 'This is Sparta' line even if they hadn't seen it. An intentional mis-quote, accompanied by a screenshot from the movie is pretty fucking obvious. So, you are completely incapable of recognizing an obvious joke. That's fine, there's no crime in that, but then:

You put on your internet tough-guy hat and spend a few minutes on Wiki finding relevant facts about the Ottoman Empire, citing dates so you feel smart. You hit 'submit,' satisfied that you have totally pwned another noob via ubb. Then, when you get called out on being a retard for having a broken-ass sarcasm detector, you get all indignant and start making an even bigger ass of yourself.

Oh, and:
with the level of intelligence displayed in Sober Irishman's post, and echoed throughout this board
So, now everyone on the board is stupid? Or just the people who pointed out your lack of awareness? So Bzl, Caravan Ray, Erik, and Boltoph are stupid. You know how to make friends, dude.

This is indeed Songfight. People make jokes. When you don't get a joke, let it go, instead of becoming an enormous prick to everyone.

I am pretty stupid. Sometimes I can quote from movies that I haven't seen but usually not. Once in a while I even get drunk and write songs about books that I haven't read, which is stupidity bordering on downright dangerous. That's how people get hurt.

Also I prefer to laugh at the wacky antics of my own cat. You know, when I have the option of which cat to be amused by. Sometimes you just have to go with whatever cat is available at the time, which is pragmatic but probably also further evidence that I am stupid.

actually, i was referring to your posts scattered throughout the board, which are usually hard to miss.
i was not referring to the other people you listed. just you.
but you're right, you got me. i didn't get the joke.
but neither did i insult the people you claim i did.
so, i guess everyone is capable of misunderstanding something.
