QOTD: I'm a fan of Nickel Creek's version of Britney's 'Toxic'. And of course my medley of Beautiful(Christina Aguilera)/Baby One More Time(Britney) is damn spectacular. Add's 'Take On Me' is super good aswell.
I've almost finished up redoing my bedroom now; just have to put up the border and curtains(and buy the curtains), but that stuff can wait for the weekend. Today has been a day or organizing and steam cleaning and washing and oh goodness. My room is spoootless now.
I baked and frosted two dozen cupcakes in the last hour. Vanilla cake with chocolate frosting = Yummy.
Tomorrow I need to go buy curtains and bleach/hairdye. Woo.

There are many good covers of Toxic. Local H did one too. Also I did one though I need to rerecord it now that I have a better arrangement for it.

i don't know if it's my favorite cover project ever, but this guy named hideki from japan re-recorded the whole revolver album and released it as revolvah. he came to america and performed the entire album with a full band in 4 or 5 locations (which was even better than the cd). my recording business was able to record 2 of the shows. hearing a rocking version of tomorrow never knows live was pretty incredible.
anyway, you can check out 5 songs from revolvah on musicalfamilytree's site, specifically, here:
http://www.musicalfamilytree.com/bands/hideki
love you to, for no one, and tomorrow never knows are my favorites, but the whole cd is pretty great.
enjoy.

Finally, I think I have an answer:
"How Come" by Embrace (D12 cover). No cover has ever taken so little and made so much.

I just thought of one of my favourites - The Clash's 'Police + Thieves' - great song, great cover that recognises the original whilst brings new meaning to it, and pretty much singlehandedly brought a whole bunch of punks to reggae (and hopefully t'other way round as well).
Oh and Frank Bennett's lounge version of 'Creep' makes it sound like his is the original, and Radiohead are covering it. No mean feat.

There's this Musak version of Jethro Tull's Cross-Eyed Mary on our corporate phone system that I just can't get out of my head. DAMN IT!

erik's "you say you don't love me" is great. and his "movin' right along." and pfm's "summertime." and erik's "maria," and high density's "the lonely goatherd," and octothorpe's "little guns" and "the sound of music." also lots of nonsongfight covers.
