Zero 2 Phantom (2004)

Post by Mogosagatai »

I doubt anyone will be able to understand these lyrics by hearing alone, so...

Zero to Phantom

Well a phantom is a thing
that ain't real, you can't deny,
and so it must be something with
imaginary i,
and so I head towards phantom town,
by which I mean complexity,
cuz simple can be nice but can't be all
that it could be.

Well nothing ain't a thing,
except a thing no more than none,
so instead of being zero,
well I'd rather be a one,
but if I go zero to one,
well that would not satisfy,
so instead I got to go zero to phantom
and never die.

Zero to Phantom
words and music by The Iron Clef

zero to phantom
crush
hell hath no fury
like 64k mono
when we battle
we battle
mono a mono

zero to phantom
so suave
fall to the mercy
of 64k mono
when we tango
we tango
mono a mono

Poor June
words and music, me

there's nothing in his head
that hasn't been there before
and sometimes he wants to slit his wrists
to let it all hang out
for everybody to stand there watchin'

he goes zero to phantom
he's got nothing to show
that hasn't been shown before
nothing more then what you see right now
in his heart, in his heart

he always wants to make a good impression
sometimes, but it means nothing
to the people around him
to make it out alive and

well he goes zero to phantom
he's got something to show
thats never been shown before
he goes zero to phantom
hes got more to show
thats never been shown before
and they'll never know
what it feels like

to lay it out on the line
to let you know how it feels
when everything's coming down
let you see what's goin' down in me
and let you know how it seems
when everybodys standin' there watchin' you
fall and stumble on stage
and nobodies there to pick you up
when everythings crumbling under your feet

he goes zero to phantom
he's got something more
that's never been shown before
he goes zero to phantom
he's got nothing new nothing more
in him, that makes him want to
he goes zero to phantom
and it's nothing you never seen before
and he came down from his trip
down from his trip
he's coming down from his trip
down down...

(all the lyrics were adlibbed... so ehhh it's just shy of 3 minutes)

Zero to Phantom by Johnny Cashpoint

Zero to Phantom – you better get in the ring
Feather to Bantam – I’m gonna get my head staved in

Baby I’ve been hit one time too many
Or maybe it’s you that’s had one punch too few
But I’ve got to make it up to her by beating you

Phantom to Zero – I don’t really stand a chance
Plankton to Hero – You gonna make my teeth dance

CHORUS

Beat me to a bloody pulp, it’s mea culpa, sweetheart
From cradle to grave without a highlight, sweetheart

Beat me
I’m no hero

Zero to Phantom by Future Boy
(I'm bringing the goofy here, folks)

Maybe you don't understand my obsession with cheese
When cheddar was banned in the states I got down on my knees
In front of a judge and pleaded for him to appease
My need for a block of the stuff to be sent from overseas

"What are my chances?" I said
"Zero to Phantom," he read
From a book labeled "laws of the land"
That he held in the palm of his hand
And then threw at the back of my head
When I turned to leave

I locked myself inside of the house for an entire week
I nibbled on cheese like a mouse and I refused to speak
I totally freaked out my spouse when I started to squeek
She took me to see Dr. Klaus, the diagnosis was bleak

"What are his chances?" she said
"Zero to Phantom," he read
From a book labeled "mental distress"
Then he said I was under duress
I would need to be tied to a bed
And denied any cheese

His prescription seemed pretty extreme
A little batty, if you know what I mean
I resisted my urge to scream
That he was out of his mind

Later that night when I found myself tied to the bed
I tugged at the ropes that were bound to my wrists overhead
That made a horrible sound so I lay still instead
Then my wife entered the room with some cheese on her head

"What are my chances?" I cried
"Zero to Phantom," she replied
With a wink and a nod
Then she slapped both my feet with a cod
If I remember the cod was deep fried
And was smothered with cheese

I don't figure you can understand the lyrics much in the recordin'.

Nipple Creek Fairies - Zero To Phantom

bubba's heading down to millsaw with a gun in his hand
done caught his wife cheatin' around and sleeping with another man
That turned him into a monster and made his skin crawl
He went from zero to phantom in no time at all

He's gonna fire his rifle filling them both with hot lead
then he'll reload again to make sure they're both dead
but now he's headin' out of town or he'll take the fall
so it's zero to phantom in no time at all

Still a long ways to go before he can say the coast is clear
Many miles before he's free and way too many a year
He's got to keep moving and stay on the ball
so it's zero to phantom in no time at all

Constantly on the run and sure they're always on his tail
He never stays in one place to long and covering his trail
He's feels the heat of being chased by the law
He goes zero to phantom in no time at all

The warmth that cradles him is just friction from the run
and it can't even peirce his cold cold heart that blocks out all the sun

He takes some comfort in the fact that bo's a half past dead
relishes in the memories of the innards of his head
The joy he receives from this makes him feel tall
He went from zero to phantom in no time at all

Sometimes it visits him and it weighs heavy on his mind
only 'cause it reminds him of the bars he should be behind
So he trudges on from town to town making himself small
he goes from zero to phantom in no time at all

The warmth that cradles him is just friction from the run
and it can't even peirce his cold cold heart that blocks out all the sun
The winters come and snow flutters down
while the chill rattles his aging bag of bones

As he grows older now and much later in his years
he finds that he can no longer cry or shed anymore tears
He trudges through life with no feelings installed
He went zero to phantom in no time at all

He thinks way too often of the lives he could have saved
but he'll take his secret with him right to his grave
his deeply blackened heart squeezed by a monkey's paw
it went from zero to phantom in no time at all
You know who I am

Zero to Phantom by Josh Woodward

Dnuorg eth no kcuts llits seitak dna, haey
Naeco eht ni kcuts llits sgnidlaps won dna

From the dawn at the start of the morning
To the dusk at the end of the day
Our bones, they just want to retire
And our minds, they just search for a way

Well you know there's a new day beginning
But there's shades of the past all around
And now Spalding's still stuck in the ocean
Yeah, and Katie's still stuck on the ground

Well we all start existance with nothing
Then we give up the ghost when we're through
Yeah, we climb up from zero to phantom
The recycle the ashes anew

Recycle, this strike will tear apart this world that we have built
Recycle, recycle, this is where we fall apart

Well, our bones, they just want to retire
And our minds, they just search for a way
From the dawn at the start of the morning
To the dusk at the end of the day

Zero to Phantom by Hostess Mostess

When we set out to find him, you all laughed and said you knew we never could;
When we saw him on the mountain, he claimed to know for sure we always would.

That's expensive insurance for unlikely events.
We're giving Zero to Phantom, 'cause Phantom got no one to run against.

When I was a little boy, I'd stare at night beyond my bedroom window,
And far beyond my sillouhetted toys I memorized the endless void.

Now I wrote down my blessings, but all paper words are doomed to die in dust.
We're giving Zero to Phantom, 'cause what the hell has Phantom given us?

Everybody taught me that his story was a deep and moving drama,
But nobody can reach agreement on just what the story means.

Now the darknes is falling and the truth is fast disolving in the sea.
I'm giving Zero to Phantom, 'cause what the hell has Phantom given me?

Alright, here's an explanation of the lyrics to the & the Delicate Flowers' song:

"Phantom" is a joky metaphor for complexity (that of a person's mind). That's derived from the idea that a phantom isn't real, so (here's the joke) it must be complex--like in math: Numbers that contain i, the sqrt of -1, are complex instead of real. Get it??? Ha ha...anway.

So it goes on to talk about how, while it's certainly better to be a "one" than a "zero"--as in, to be somebody instead of nobody, as in, to be successful in some vein of life--the narrator would prefer to strive to be a complex, i.e. intelligent and out-of-the-box, person.

It's assumed that everyone is "zero" when they're born, since they haven't done anything worthwhile yet. So, going "zero to one" (growing into a regular person) has its merits, but it's really just boring in the end. Going "zero to phantom" (growing into a complex person) is what the narrator wants.

Oh, and the "never die" line means that I think truly great thinkers are immortalized, not only by affecting other people who live on after them, but also literally in some form of an afterlife.

Kelvinator - Zero to Phantom

Post by artsta »

Zero to Phantom, Is there anything you cannot hide?
There is no answer
Only the questions that you keep alive
By my side every night

Zero to Phantom, Its like loving the wind in the trees
Will you still need me when you are running off with the breeze
When Im holding on do I hold you back?

How can I keep it alive?
You keep on fading as sunsets fade into night
Zero to Phantom our sunset is fading to night

Zero to Phantom, When I hold you do I hold you back?
When I'm holding on, do I hold you back?

Basically the song Zero (ground zero) to Phantom is about a girl who is in love with the Phantom. Even though she desperately wants him, the fact that she is aware that when she holds onto him she is holding him back means she is kinda cool and might be worth holding onto to.
