Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

Another thing: I'll be coming to San Francisco to look at real estate from the 13th through the 19th. Hopefully I can meet up with the SFSFers again (and maybe get a chance to see Blue & co. this time).

When I drive somewhere, I load up a CD with MP3s of the "Get This" podcast:
http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/shows/ ... index.html
a local radio show with Australian comedians that I think is bloody hilarious.

Otherwise - I've always found that murder mysteries are the best long distance driving audio books. The linear nature of the stories seems to fit with driving well.

I have an idea for a novel, where a dude is driving from Townsville to Mount Isa (a drive I used to do a lot listening to murder mysteries) listening to a murder mystery, and as new charachters come into the story he is listening to - parallel characters seem to appear in real life, as hitchhikers, or in truckstops etc. As he approaches Isa - he realises that he is actually a murderer...or something..I haven't really thought this through a lot.

The History of The Byzantine Empire - the lectures are not bad. Hey, the subject matter carries itself, lots of murder, famine and suicide mixed in with great architecture and devious wives. Great for the tread mill, too!

Studio K is on the Belmont shores peninsula, which really isn't an island, even though you have to go over a bridge to get there, and water flows under the bridge. It's really more of a break water for the filthy rich residence of Naples.
Ah, the old 'hood. You talking about the long-gone bridge off the end of the peninsula that took you straight into Seal Beach?

Dude, how long ago were those recording sessions? [insert Rip Van Winkle smiley here]
