1) I didn't actually have Cancer when I wrote a song called Cancer.
2) The blues ain't about broken hearts, it's about the world treating you bad. Just because I got a woman mean as she can be don't mean she gonna be able to break my heart.
3) Have you really never had your heart broken? What are you, 12? Like everyone I know has had their heart broken.
For better or worse, the only day of school I ever skipped was the day after my first real girlfriend broke up with me. During that day I was just a heaping mass of uselessness.

However, on the brighter side of life, we got back together around 3 months later and now we've been married for 8 years. Ha!

But yeah, on the tune "Pink Ribbon", I wrote it as though it had some great meaning, but it doesn't. An artist (pronounced "R-Tea-st") is all about that: looking within and without to create a false reality. Or magnifying something that may have been inconsequential into something worth singing about. Just look at They Might Be Giants. nuff said.

What the dude is really concerned about is "will the title inspire the right artists?" Only the reviews will tell....

Ummm, I've had a life partner cheat on me.
Good try, though.
That's because you are a f.aggot. Children don't count anyway.

Actually, I thought SF was getting better and better. Members are obtaining measured success (Melvin and MC Frontalot that I know of; hmm, maybe I need to become "Mages"), and I constantly watch people's skills improve.

And where else can you have winning songs that go from nerdcore to grind metal to adult contemporary rock to alt rock....all in the same month? In fact, where else can you go to participate in a songwriting competition on a semi-regular basis?

Yup, SF is SongSUCKING more and more. OMG, it's so depressing. I think I'll write an EMO song....

Its usually not a good sign when you feel done after two takes (trust me, I'm the king of turning in unfinished tunes). In addition to trying to get a recording, really focus on the melody to your song. Be sure it's gelin' and try different angles. You might find something that makes it even better.

EDIT: ooops! Didn't mean to have four posts in a row. lame-o

I welcome you to Song Fight, give you some helpful advice, and you call me an ass? Why are you so defensive? Link me to some of your music so I can hear what you're about. This request isn't a demand, so put you guard down and chill musician style.

Come on - don't let a good fight die in the arse

It's ok to circumvent the censor for w.iki.p.e.dia, as that is a joke. However, if you circumvent it for the two other words I've put on the list, you're going to make me very angry.

On the Song Fight message board, please refrain from intolerance that does not solely involve other people's terrible, terrible music.

And I'd like you to stop the childish bickering too, but whatever.

I'm no longer sure if this is the right place to post this stuff but my History has more chord changes than yours. It started in a very different vein, but this is, as usual, completely out of my control.

hate to ruin your day but my entry features no less than three-hundred chord changes, eleven seperate guitar solos, a twelve-minute long drum solo, thirteen different melodies, fifty-two vocalists, an exploding building, and the screams of dying fetuses.

I haven't started Broken Heart yet. I got too depressed whilst trying to dig for inspiration, so I got drunk instead. :P

You got me on a technicality. I do not think that those particular styles all won in the same month, but please someone correct me if I'm wrong!

I was merely trying to state that "there is a wide variety that is embraced on SF". Geez-us!

Yes as to chords, and yes, I will rerecord it and try different angles. Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to use SongFight to experiment and learn the process of writing music, and it's certainly not as easy as it might look from the outside.

Oh, man, where to begin...

Experiment? EXPERIMENT??? So, Songfight is to simply float your little test-tubes of sonic impurities until you go off and land gigs scoring for Deepak Chopra's action movies? Come on...really.

Well, basically you got it right. SongFighting builds strong bones and whitens teeth.

Update: Continuing issues with recording equipment-uncontrollable fuzz/static using distortion pedal. Can't seem to get the EQ and OD balanced just right to make it sound like non-crap. Will continue to work at this.
