I don't think this title is gonna produce much. How many of you actually have broken hearts? I think last week's failed blues fiasco can answer that...

1) I didn't actually have Cancer when I wrote a song called Cancer.
2) The blues ain't about broken hearts, it's about the world treating you bad. Just because I got a woman mean as she can be don't mean she gonna be able to break my heart.
3) Have you really never had your heart broken? What are you, 12? Like everyone I know has had their heart broken.

For better or worse, the only day of school I ever skipped was the day after my first real girlfriend broke up with me. During that day I was just a heaping mass of uselessness.

However, on the brighter side of life, we got back together around 3 months later and now we've been married for 8 years. Ha!

But yeah, on the tune "Pink Ribbon", I wrote it as though it had some great meaning, but it doesn't. An artist (pronounced "R-Tea-st") is all about that: looking within and without to create a false reality. Or magnifying something that may have been inconsequential into something worth singing about. Just look at They Might Be Giants. nuff said.

What the dude is really concerned about is "will the title inspire the <i>right</i> artists?" Only the reviews will tell....

Actually, I thought SF was getting better and better. Members are obtaining measured success (Melvin and MC Frontalot that I know of; hmm, maybe I need to become "Mages"), and I constantly watch people's skills improve.

And where else can you have winning songs that go from nerdcore to grind metal to adult contemporary rock to alt rock....all in the same month? In fact, where else can you go to participate in a songwriting competition on a semi-regular basis?

Yup, SF is SongSUCKING more and more. OMG, it's so depressing. I think I'll write an EMO song....

Does this one have chords?

Its usually not a good sign when you feel done after two takes (trust me, I'm the king of turning in unfinished tunes). In addition to trying to get a recording, really focus on the melody to your song. Be sure it's gelin' and try different angles. You might find something that makes it even better.

After much conjoling, I convinced my old bandmate and drummer Matt to jam with me on Saturday, and he promised to lay down some honest-to-goodness live drums for this song this week. Going back to our roots, so maybe the song will come out a little better, hm?

Update: Continuing issues with recording equipment-uncontrollable fuzz/static using distortion pedal. Can't seem to get the EQ and OD balanced just right to make it sound like non-crap. Will continue to work at this.
