Konichiwa Songfighters! Roll Call!
How are y'all doing. I'm back after laying low for the last few days where I took my kids to a science museum and then working on the new XTRG song (where I learned the valuable lesson- if it ain't broke, don't fix it)
In honor of what seemed to be a very successful (and drunken) SF Live show:
Question of the Day:
What's your favorite Songfight Live/Presents performance?
If you've never gotten to hear/see/experience an SF live show, there is a bunch of material online, including some great videos from last year's live on YouTube.
My favorite has got to be State Shirt doing his cover of Expose's "Point of No Return".
PS- Luke Henley and I would love to throw a SF Presents show in the New York/New Jersey area, around November (it would go along with my big 3-0) but we're financially inept and don't exactly know where to begin putting one together. Any help to get started would be greatly appreciated.

I loved that # cover, I think it was my favorite bit from Saturday. So that's probably mine also. Rock on, ADD.

Edit PS: but full-set-wise my favorite set was Frankie's.

My voice is completely shot after singing and drinking hard for three days strait. So now... I'm answering phones at work. Ask me how thats working out for me? Have to do an auto attendant voice over for someone tomorrow. Crossing fingers I'll be better for tomorrow.
qotd: I don't have a favorite moment. Even if I did I probably wouldn't remember it anyways. My fondest of memories are from Lancaster though. Maybe the first time I had ever heard Eric do Secrets. I say this because when my folks and I were watching him do that song on Saturday night it took me back there.

QOTD: Geez, too too many! Got the bug at the last Octothorpe Presents (& Friends? can't remember, and the program's been hidden in the cleaning of the studio) show seeing # cover Oingo Boingo's "Tiny Guns". That the show opened with The Landfills (Adjuster, solo) covering my Upcoming Downtime added to the hard-on value
The Booty Chesterfield set at SFHD last year rocked my ass off. Klownhole @ Spudfest. Anti-M on the West Coast Tour. Ken's constant rock solidness. Glenn's passion and drive and total immersion in whatever he's playing. Caravan Ray's half-crocked good ol' boyness at the mike. Puce's Mr. Hyde possessing him. ###. Sam (Lunkhead) & Erin. Albatross laying the foundations. Jack & Brody. Rockin', all of you.

Just signed the paperwork for selling my Seattle place. Woo.
Also dealing with my irate realtor in Oakland who doesn't seem to understand that no amount of him yelling at me will make ING Direct get that letter of approval to him any faster.
qotd: Favorite SFLive event in general? I've been to way too many to choose just one. I'd have to say my favorite would be Seattle since it was my first one and because Spud did such an awesome job of having extracurricular activities around it. It was a week of jamming and hanging out. The show at the end was more or less incidental. (Which is good because I totally sucked, but I'd also never been on stage in any real capacity before.)
Favorite performance by anyone else? Frankie's Been To China from SFP&T (Lancaster 2002) always rocks my socks. However, his whole acoustic set from Boston was great.
Favorite moment? Any time Jefff has had too much to drink and starts dancing.
As far as my favorite performance of mine (which isn't really any possible interpretation of the question but I'll answer it anyway), probably Boston, which not coincidentally is the one which I also had the most time to practice for with actual bandmates. I don't know why it is but at most of the shared practice space SF performances I never seem to actually get any decent amount of practice time in, and usually by the time I do get some, whoever's drumming for me will have already gotten worn out from practicing with everyone else. Santa Cruz went pretty well for me too though.

I've never been to a SF Live
except if you count the SF Live Minnesota... My favorite performance from that show was when Spencer at age 2 1/2, got up in front of everyone and played a rockin' drum solo during an intermission.
Phil sent me an awesome recipe today for root beer float cup cakes and I can't wait to make them... Root beer schnaps, root beer glaze and butter cream frosting. Yum!
Work sucks. I'm feeling a little under the weather. It rained all weekend so it's been nice an cool outside. The State Fair starts this week, can't wait to go.

Applying to colleges is awful and confusing and I wish stupid college websites weren't so poorly designed so I could just download the right PDF without having to click through seventeen pages. Also, why the hell do certain colleges not have applications online for applying early decision for Fall 2008 when I need to have the stuff in by November 1, and I can't even see what the damn essay/personal statement is so I can start working on it, because that leaves me with so very little time to organize all the forms, get the money, get the letter of recommendations, get everything to my guidance counselor, and all while applying to several other colleges. Nice job, colleges!
Is anyone here best friends with the Dean of Admissions to some really fancy nursing school? Can you get me a place? (UW currently holds the award for the most annoying website to try and apply on. I want to apply there, I don't need to click through a dozen pages of them telling me how great their college is. I already want to apply! Would I be on that page if I didn't want to?!). Fucking college.
QOTD: I really liked Boston and Santa Cruz. I liked the dance-y sets the most. I think the livefight last year was my favorite 'SFL experience'. Mostly because a lot of people were rather inebriated but in a charming fashion. It was a nice crowd of oldies and newbies too, so it didn't feel 'cliquey'.

yeah, the live show here was really chock full of good stuff, including all the bewells stuff, booty's set, ken flagg, pray for mojo's good times fun band, caravan ray of course, and stuart and his storytelling.
but possibly the best is sonofsupercar. at the accordian or in any one of the dives i saw them in.

I can't remember, was "The Accordian" the 2nd floor venue where I was hugging the wall for fear that the floor was going to come out from under us under the force of the fans of sonofsupercar?jack wrote:]but possibly the best is sonofsupercar. at the accordian or in any one of the dives i saw them in.
If so, I'd have to vote that as being the most intense SF show I ever attended... probably the most intense show I've ever attended, period. I was actually pretty close to fearing that I was going to die in a huge building collapse-- and it rocked!
Starfinger / Sober Irishman's "More Than Soup" from SF Sox and Rock 2005 is also way up there, in terms of being memorable. And, from the same weekend, Bjam and Stewie performing "I Hate You" at the acoustic set was loads of fun, too.
