Konichiwa Songfighters!

The Roll Call rolls on. Today is a crazy day that I will talk about in drips and drabs over the next few posts. But one of the things I'm doing today is doing some revamping on the XTRG myspace. So please stop by and show some love for the band.

As for a question of the day...JB definitely has that covered elsewhere.

I added you guys, Nivy. I really like the music and M has such a great voice.

Finishing up my VU cover today.
We had a month and I waited until the last minute.
So typical of me
I would have loved a female voice in the chorus with me,
like Anti M or Heather, but now I'm out of time

I got my first ever speeding ticket yesterday, so I'm still glowing after that :) My spotless record is now ... more normal? At least the kids liked it. The sheriff was a nice, burly man, and if today's procedures weren't so paranoid (required I supposed) I'd dare say he'd have let me go with a warning, but as he had to call in the plate number and circumstances I have a $84 check going out in today's mail.

QotD: I really don't see SF.net often. I like the idea, but always figured it should be a page on SF.org.

good afternoon. it was a busy weekend.

early yesterday morning i submitted my 12th (consecutive) songfight song. that was the goal i set when i joined up: to do 12 in a row. i don't think i necessarily went out on my best song, or mix, but i feel like i've accomplished something here.

this fight also finished up the notebook i've been writing lyrics, chords structures, and general song ideas in since february 1st when i started FAWM.

speaking of FAWM, early yesterday morning, i also submitted a track for consideration on the FAWM 3 compilation. the track is called "we should have multiplied" and it was the first song i completed for FAWM, making it the first song i had written in about 4 years. the recording is also the first one i attempted on the Roland. i am not expecting to make it onto the compilation, but it was fun to submit something.

i assume that melvin holds the record for longest consecutive songfighting streak, but does anyone know for sure?

thanks for all the reviews and thanks for listening to my music.
and as a special treat, for "history of my broken heart": audio reviews!

also: roymond. you should see if you qualify for a diversion program. basically you pay the court a sum that is higher than the ticket and if you don't get any driving infractions for a certain time (a year for me), the ticket will never go on your record. the downside is that if you do get another infraction in that time peroid, the court enters a guilty plea for the first ticket and have to then pay it and probably the second one too. this option usually applies to people with good driving records.

I just finished moving into my new apartment today and finally got the internet hooked up properly. My roommate is kind of stupid but I guess that's the official law of roommates in University. I also finished the guitar part of a song I'm writing and sent it to my friend who's going to add in he piano part. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. :D

Melvin doesn't. I'm pretty sure that WreckdoM holds the record, followed by Octothorpe and Abominominous.

usetheforce: you might enjoy the song I did for "Violet Wants It Her Way" - it's about bad college roommates...

Feeling pretty pleased about finishing tied for 4th in the "Memphis" voting - I really didn't expect (or cause) that. Nice surprise.

I'm pretty sure Wreckdom and/or Josh Woodward had streaks of around 40 fights, but somebody will let us know before long.

Answered JB's QotD over in that thread. Among other things, I think they should use it to host coverfights (at least coverfights of SF material, where there won't be any copyright issues). I have some webspace to self-host covers, but eventually all that stuff gets taken down to make room for something else, and it's kind of a shame that most the SF covers of SF songs are no longer online. The answer will be "no," but it's my job to keep asking until they accidentally answer "yes" and then feel obligated to follow through :-)

Having kind of an unhappy day overall, but I guess I'll just keep on keepin' on as best I can...

I didn't know sf.net still existed. I haven't seen it in a very long time. I like Roymond's suggestion though.

Today I learned that a guy I went to high school with lives next door to me.

Arrrgh! I'm in "waiting for the songs to go up" mode!! Our song is a little bit different this week and I'm curious to see how it will be received.

I should be doing stuff like getting laundry done for my big trip to Nebraska. I also have to do the f*n litter box. Why do cats have to poop and pee?

I have the whole week off! But, as previously mentioned, part of that week is dedicated to flying to Nebraska and back. Why am I going to Nebraska? For my cousin's wedding. Whoo hoo. I haven't seen Cody since the late 90s and then maybe 10 years before. He's a couple of years younger than me, but in my mind he's an 8 year old kid. I'm taking the baby girl and Phil is staying home so Spencer can go to school.

Today we met Spencer's teacher and he got to play in his kick ass kindergarten classroom.

Tomorrow I pack and Thursday Spencer starts school and I leave for my trip.

QotD: I don't know what the fightmasters should do with Songfight.net. I think it would be cool if there was a spot for songfighters to post articles and interviews and blog-type entries. I've never been a blogger, but I might find myself contributing or something. It never ceases to amaze me that people have an idea of The Redmons that is probably more grandiose than we are in reality!

You should ask him to sign your year book.
