Skull a day Songwriting contest

Post by Tim »

Hey guys. I'm a long time Songfight lurker, and I thought I'd pass along this link.

Skull a Day is a website where an artist is creating a skull art piece everyday for a year. He created some awesome skull necklaces and is giving them away in a songwriting contest. Judging is strictly based on... who submits first. First seven win ;-)

Anyway, thought you might like this!

I'm on this as well. Lyrics written, and I'll do the music tonight.

It's a little geeky, but it's done:

Glenn Case
Skulls are Everywhere

You might think I'm strange
Or a little dark
But skeletons are rad
The skull's the coolest part

I wear my skull shirt
And I get dirty looks
I think I've figured out
What gets these people shook

It's a reminder
Of their mortality
'Cause with those head bones
They face reality

No one lives forever
And what you leave behind
Is your skeleton
That's what you'll be with time

-------------------------
CHORUS
They think I'm creepy
But I don't care
Take a look around
Skulls are everywhere
-------------------------

Look in Hamlet's hand
And He-Man's nemesis
With a skull-a-day
Everyone benefits

You see one in the clouds
You take a picture
Somewhere along the way
That's when it hits ya

Skulls are everywhere
If you just look around
There's no need to be scared
Of this blog you found

May the skulls within your salad be so crescent fresh
And when they ask if you've had your skull-a-day, you answer yes

-------------------------
CHORUS
They think I'm creepy
But I don't care
Take a look around
Skulls are everywhere
-------------------------
SKULLS ARE EVERYWHERE
SO GO AND FIND THEM IF YOU DARE
SKULLS ARE EVERYWHERE
SO GO AND FIND THEM IF YOU DARE

ROCK!

Nice!!

Here's mine:

The Army Of Skulls

Here comes the army of skulls
Here comes the army of skulls
They’re made out of tinfoil and thumbtacks and wire
Brought into being with water and fire
And calling upon the whole world to conspire
Here comes the army of skulls

Here comes the army of skulls
Here comes the army of skulls
An odd celebration of all of our gains
Through manifestation of objects mundane
Into subtle creation of human remains
Here comes the army of skulls

Here comes the army of skulls
Here comes the army of skulls
We’ll face a few hundred before he gets done
Don’t’ think for a minute you won’t join the fun
‘Cause like it or not we’re all gonna make one
Here comes the army of skulls

for the record, I found the skull site from Songfight...

1. I started listening to Songfight songs a couple years ago
2. I became a fan of Brad Sucks
3. Brad runs in4mador.com
4. in4mador linked to Skull a day, which I totally became addicted to
5. I linked to it on Songfight....

life is a circle.

Also, you guys made some friggin' amazing songs.
