I had a very tough time making up my mind. I was very tempted to go to the library and vote for you, but my conscience wouldn't allow it.Paco Del Stinko wrote:Congrats BLTfW and props to the Stylus. Thanks for the votes my way too people - a heap more than I expected!

Good job all! I'm floored! I never really thought it would happen. Now I'll be flying high on this while I'm flying high to Amsterdam so that I can...you guessed it.
Congrats to Add, AVI, Bushido, Hell Yeahs, Melvin, and everyone. This was such as strong fight with good quality songs from just about every entrant.
SIS (Still in Shock) and reeling...
Phil
P.S. leaving on a jet plane,
unfortunately, I'll be back again
flying out at 7:25 tomarra night
and landing at 11 AM
OK, so it didn't work as well as I expected.

Well, I'm certainly glad that you followed your conscience although I guess that I wouldn't have known the difference.Lord of Oats wrote:I was very tempted to go to the library and vote for you, but my conscious wouldn't allow it.
Phil - Toss me a souvenir out the window on your way back! Have fun.

Re: music tastes
I know I'm late to an expired party here, but I just noticed there was an awful lot of taking our name in vain, or vein, as it were....Rabid Garfunkel wrote:Which is extra-super bad for a person who plays breath-driven instruments...rdurand wrote:... to cause the roof of my mouth to break out in hives for 4-5 hours (it's a terrible sensation).
Oh Dominar o' the Oats, "aboriginal Americans"? Are you so infused with the dreaded PC, or do you have an Anthropology degree? What about the Bering land bridge? We live in a land of immigrants... from the very start of time.
Yes, Virginia, Rabid's drunk and fiesty.
No one is owed, or obligated to do for anyone here. If one chooses to review, or not to review, then that is what they shall do. If they choose to say "Not my thing" (and aside from Klownhole or Octothorpe, I think I'm damned well up there in receiving THAT sort of review) then They are acknowledging that entry whether or not they enjoy it.
They listened, and made up their own mind about it.
As someone who has received a fair amount of not-my-kind-of-thing's, I dislike them. I understand the sentiment. But as someone else mentioned, it kind of feels like a cop out. It's fun to listen to a genre you normally don't like and try to evaluate quality in it. For example, I hate rap and hip-pop. I just do. And when I review, I say that I hate rap and I don't accept it as a legitimate way to organized sounds for people to hear. Because I think that's helpful for people, set them straight. Then, I usually go on to say "but I can tell this is good for this type of music. Good rhymes, nice booty reference...." or whatever the fuck. If I think it's bad rap, I'll say that. On top of my generalized proclamation of genre dismissal.
When you play drunken cartoon rock like we do, it's fun to hear someone say "I normally don't like heavy music, but this chorus or that chord progression is pretty cool." Or, "I don't like heavy music, but I can tell this is particularly bad. Who yells like that? Go to an AA meeting for fuckssake.". Done, good input. I like that. Make it interesting. And it doesn't take any more time than writing a null statement.
I have added nothing to this debate.
