What's the best (in your opinion) lyric you ever wrote? Try to keep it to a line or two, not a whole song.

I think mine is from my 'Feet', and it's

Some guys like domination, some guys like PVC
Bondage humiliation, blood, shit, and drinking pee.

It is from the unreleased song "Which Synonym for Small Would You Choose to Describe Sven's Penis." Zing!

It's gonna take me a little while to figure out a favorite but it was probably something from the Zinkline "Bending the Worlds" album (maybe from "Xerox" or "Evergreen")
"I'd like to see 1984 redubbed with this in the soundtrack."- Furrypedro.

I always liked:

Lavender Splendor is what I became
like a mirrored fedora on a pink John Wayne
or some caviar, oysters and a fried plantain
Lavender Splendor flowing through my veins

from Lavender Splendor, obviously.

This is hard to pick. I tend to be overfond of all my lyrics, as I am a huge narcissist. I am currently rather partial to this one:

"And you loaded up your camera, but you're not looking for a smile.
March me out into the road shoot me execution style."

(From the too-late-to-be-included-in-the-party "I Don't Want to Be Your Friend" available here.)

Like it or not, you're getting my top 2, 'cos I just couldn't choose between them.

Ignorance is innocence; our hearts were not so pure
willing slaves to nescience: "don't tell us any more."

'Sincerity Machine', solo effort

See the bodies coiled in anger, see the faces clenched in pain
Light the fuse, watch it smoulder, set Shiva free and let him reign

'Summer Of Hate', Bloodberries & Cream.

First one that comes to mind because a lot of old fans asked about it often.
My brain is chained to a stake in the back yard,
it's getting shorter every time I try to think
Young ideas still hold a place in my heart,
now dead and rotted but they still don't stink

I was pretty happy when I started singing "Lady of the lake, mother of the ocean..."

But I'm pretty unimpressed with all of my words out of their song context.

That would be a great line in your next song, or a title.

As a songwriter, and not a poet, this should not be a big concern.

As far as your 'lady of the lake, etc.' thing, that line was running through my head in my down time at work. You bastard. You and your pop hooks. I'm jealous. I'll probably repeat myself in my review, but I always like to be covered, in case I forget.

Mine do too.

Do not despair.

I may have said this before, but my analysis of pop music has lead me to one ultimate conclusion:

LYRICS DON'T MATTER. AT ALL.

I don't think I write very poetic/good lyrics but I am kind of fond of this one:
It's heaven sent for lazy slobs
Remote control to do your jobs
Like Rodin statue, sit and think
Control your eyes, don't have to blink
