So... I decided to go over to tuneflow this month and see how it is over there. A couple days ago, somebody... well, okay, background: on TF, the review and preview versions of songs are 96k mono, and if you like a song, you can buy a download of the 192kb stereo version. I have one song over there in the current tournament and I actually have one official sale.

So, a couple days ago, somebody managed to buy a whole bunch of "song credits" and they are spending them, umm, recklessly. My guess is they got somebody's PayPal password and are trying to drain the account... I mean, no matter how good my song might be, nobody needs to buy 150 separate downloads of it, y'know? Two or three other people have had lots of sales in the past couple days, but it's definitely not everybody. I imagine that eventually these "sales" will all be taken back, but in the meantime, King Arthur has become the all-time top "artist" (since it's based on the number of sales) at TF.

I don't expect it to last, but I'm taking lots of screenshots for my journal, just to remember the good times. My expectation is that at some point the money won't be real and all these sales will get deleted from the system, but if it turns out that real money is actually passing through the machine, I'm certainly willing to take my cut :-)

So, umm, Jack, maybe you should spend part of your vacation putting together a song for TF. Weird stuff going on... and when the going gets weird, the weird get busy...

Seriously, stop legitimizing that piece of shit.

qotd: Not enter into TuneFlow.

Oh also, apropos to the fires, I have friends and family who are all affected by it. My friends lago and dancing had to evacuate their home in San Diego, my sister is stuck in Orange County on a consulting gig, and my cousin and his wife and baby are in one of the "safe" parts of San Diego and the last I heard they didn't have to evacuate yet but their home has become sort of a refugee camp for their friends. Scary stuff.

Actually, the fires are closer to my house here in Mission Viejo, than the cabin. My cars are covered in ash, it smells like smoke, etc. My pool guys were bitching yesterday because the pools this week are trashed from the winds and ash.
I called the handyman that cuts my grass at the cabin, and he was just there yesterday and said my area is so far away from the fires that he cant even see or smell any smoke. But his house is about a mile from the worst of it. I told him that he can move his family to my place if they evacuate his area.

QOTD: Build a fancy birdhouse. :P

QotD: A Jack Shite AAD is in high demand! Give the people what they want!

Or come out to NH, check out the foliage, and play at Gilligan's with me on Friday.

qotd: Obvious, visit San Diego county. I hear it's beautiful this time of year and it's just a day's trip south.

You could finish up a previous project you may have put on the wayside for a few years. :-)

Looking at it in that orientation, I see a cute little donkey lying on his back.

Since I don't worship donkeys, I will not be the one to claim it has any religious significance.

Bushfire frightens the shit out of me. It is part of the reason that I moved north to Brisbane where we have wet summers rather than dry summers (usually). How are the Adelaide hills looking ths year Sausage Boy? Has the word "tinderbox" started popping up in news reports yet?

actually, we haven't been too bad down here (yet). We'll get four, five days of hot, dry weather, but then it will rain for a short while, just enough to make everything nice and moist. Last year was pretty bad though, especially in the Hills. Give it a month or so, and I would say we would be looking at a total fire ban season again.

I went CD shopping today and picked up 3 -

Genesis: Duke
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
DragonForce: Inhuman Rampage

I also bought a book. I suppose an English Major should read - I haven't bought a book since Jr High.

My car broke down.

My recording box broke down.

My legs are dead from trying to record a song.

Other than the last 3, my day was pretty good.
