No man, see thats what I'm saying. We could be asking this same question. There is NO crusade to open up songfight and there are NO fingerprints on this or any other fight. I understand we're perpetually labled as bad guys but I don't understand why. If we weren't labled as such, though, then Richard's remarks would be seen more as sarcasm than malice, as they should be. If he was doing something devious than why the two posts of backpeddling? C'mon man, ease up. We're not against you guys. Frankly, I'm kinda tired of people saying that we are.

If suggesting that maybe we all should take a step back and not care so much about voting is going to make someone be called a jerk, then get ready to call me a jerk, too.

The suggestion of a "friend flood fight" was a joke. If you don't see that, perhaps you think that the winner of songfight is in any way important. It is not.

It does not matter who wins. The fact that a song won that many people would agree is not the best song is meaningless. It happens often.

Wreckdom make songs that most people don't like. One of them seems to know this, and when the other one gets all complainy, the first one says "dude. shhhhhhh." and apologizes for his bandmate. They don't start flamewars. They don't just submit their songs, they do reviews too. They are so NOT trolls. There is nothing to suggest that they did this.

It's ridiculous to suggest that they might have something to do with this just because of all the people in the fight, they make the least accessible music.

Thank god that no one actually gets a prize in this thing, or this situation would be totally retartded. AS IT IS, it's only mildly retarded. You know, I've been involved in some wins, and I've been very fortunate to at least get one vote in any fight I 've been in. Feels great for a little while, but in all reality it only serves TWO purposes:

1) Provides credibility to my friends and family for the inoridnate amount of time I spend hanging out here ("yeah, but Dude, I'v won some...." is a hellava lot better than not!!)

2) Some credibility within the SF community.

#2 is more important to me. So, If Jack wants to say his piece so be it, but dude, you ENTERED a fight, so take your win! Very cool that you have the honour (and Justin last week for that matter) to state that you feel you came up short, and maybe didn't deserve it, but so be it. Tons of times in competitions things like this happen!! But Dude, you're not Barry Bonds for christsakes !!!!

Obviously the subversive issue is that someone may be fucking with the system, and ruining the integrity of the "game".

Favorites were & the Delicate Flowers, the Befores, Deshead, drew, Freddielove, Future Boy, Hostess Mostess, the Iron Clef, Josh Woodward, Kelvinator, Kompressor, and the Nipple Creek Fairies. I would've voted for Freddielove.

That's hilarious! Drew is at least partially responsible (or connected to) entries that I gave ratings of 3, 4, 6, and 10... in a single fight.

I can't speak for everyone here, but I am always up for hearing stories of songfight history. With music in general, the stories behind music tend to make me enjoy the entries more.

ROCK!

My 'is it cold' is the first song in which I used the EF word in a songfight song. (it may be the ONLY time as well)

Our family went to Hawaii one winter and my wife set up a scavenger-hunt-type game for us to play. We split into two teams, and each team got a cheap Polaroid camera and a list of things one might find/do in Hawaii; each thing was worth a certain number of points. Each team could take 10 pictures, and the things in the pictures counted towards the team's final score. Some things were cheap (seashell = 1 point), some were moderate (fat person in bathing suit = 20 points), some were high-payoff (team member on a surfboard looking cool = 60 points)...

Anyway, we all quickly discovered that people would do anything for us if we explained that we were playing a game and that their help would win us "points." I'm still amazed. We got free admission to and an escort through the aquarium so we could photograph a dolphin. Kids buried my step-sister in sand. Someone let my step-brother use his surfboard (!!!!).

Don't tell me why, but when it's a game, people take it more seriously.

...ok, I won't tell you why!!

I agree with you...(great story by the way!) In our pick-up ball hockey games, usual friends will hack and slash and punch each other (that's the nice things!) just to score a goal! ...then we're all laughing afterwards... unfortunately my wife doesn't find it so amusing when I limp home... she also doesn't care how many goals I scored last week (7 by the way...ahem...) So, the flip side to that is that , yeah people will help you to win (like flooding a vote) while others will villify you to prevent a win too!!

Silly humans.
