I don't remember being concerned about shoes when I was a kid. However I've always had bad arches so I wear high-tops for ankle support. These days I always wear these Vasque hiking boots, very comfortable!
Though at home I almost never wear footwear.

Yesterday (the 24th) was our 10th year anniversary. Yippy! So we went back to the scene of the crime...
then had a picnic with a pretty nice view...

Who's the other dog?
(and I am being literal, in that I mean the other one that Laura's petting. Obviously one of them is the late, great Willy.)

How did an apostrophe get in there? (checks drawings...nope).
And fluffy, that's Shyla. Two years old. Got her a few months before Willy left us.
I imagine from the photos, you can tell which is supposed to be which.

Aw, she's adorable. And even fuzzier than Willy. So my initial guess (Willy being the less-puffy one) was right, but you never know.
Has she been indoctrinated into the ritual of biting Maddog's ankle yet, or are you still working on that?

If I may...
"The 1980 movie The Shining, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, used aerial shots of Timberline as part of its opening scene. Film of the exterior of the Timberline Lodge is also used for some establishing shots of the fictional Overlook Hotel throughout the movie. However, several of the exterior shots in the film which purport to show the Lodge, such as those with the hedge maze or loading dock, were not taken at the Timberline Lodge itself, but at Elstree Studios in England, using a mock-up of the south face of the Lodge. There is no hedge maze (and scarce level ground) at the Timberline Lodge. All interior scenes were shot at Elstree studios as well, and do not depict the interior of the Timberline Lodge."

I always kind of wondered where the hedge maze fit into the landscape, since it looked pretty dang big but wasn't at all visible in the flyovers.
And now I know.

And here's a painting my dad did with my first set of skis and those boots (or some others like them that caused similar torture to one of us).

you must send me that for my office.
