Misremembering the title will score your song points in my book though!MintyHandy wrote:Who doesn't love irony? I recorded and submitted a song with "I Forgot To Remember" as the title. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that the actual title should have been "I Meant To Remember". Ah, yes.
It's 10:31pm, I have a 7:00am flight tomorrow morning to Sunnyvale, and I'm actually going to re-record the title line in the song and resubmit. That's how addicted to this I am. Yikes.

Bortwein's art didn't go up until Tuesday, I believe, so I suspect that the fightmasters may have just been waiting for his Vanilla art at first, but, now that he's submitted it, they're too busy in the middle of the week to post everything.HANK. wrote:I could train monkeys to post these songs faster. I volunteer some of my time this summer to help make more things more automated, if you'd like, FMs. ^_^ I've also been spinning some color-automation ideas in my head in which you guys could change the colors with very minimal manual re-vamping of the site.

If the fucking trained monkeys were travelling across the country attending seminars on behalf of their company who PAYS them to do so, the monkeys might have just as hard a time getting to the task as well.
The site is pretty automated already. However, someone has to be around to pull the switch.
How hard to you think it is to change the colors, anyway? It's mostly a matter of making up the colored banners and logo. Automate that.
However, we aim to please. Your entry fees will be gladly refunded.

Stop posting and start training those monkeys, then launch your own website, where you will undoubtedly get yelled at by people who think they deserve to have a say in something that they don't own, especially when you are out of town.HANK. wrote:I could train monkeys to post these songs faster. Songfight has a deadline when songs need to be recieved by. There is no deadline for when songs need to be posted by.

In addition, the fightmasters DID post the song titles for next week in a timely manner, giving us all the necessary time needed to prepare for the next fight. *Cough* Not that I start on anything more than a day before a deadline anyway...erikb wrote:Stop posting and start training those monkeys, then launch your own website, where you will undoubtedly get yelled at by people who think they deserve to have a say in something that they don't own, especially when you are out of town.HANK. wrote:I could train monkeys to post these songs faster. Maybe this is where the trained monkeys come in? But they might poop on the switch, so I'm not in favor of this idea...Spud wrote: The site is pretty automated already. However, someone has to be around to pull the switch.
I doubt it takes more than ten minutes or so, but I was thinking along the lines of using clever PNG transparency and putting the colors into stylesheets to allow them to filter through so that new logos wouldn't need to be made each time. I didn't mean to offend at all; if anything, I hoped the FMs would like the idea of just being able to type in "cranberry" and "#881111" on a form to change the colors.Spud wrote:How hard to you think it is to change the colors, anyway? I'm just trying to be helpful. *Whimpers pathetically*
All right! Wait...Spud wrote:However, we aim to please. Your entry fees will be gladly refunded.

Sorry to offend you, Blue.
Eric pretty much has it right. The site is as automated as we want it to be. JB is loathe to automate the submission process too much, because of all of the shit (there I go again) that gets sent in, in terms of links instead of files, files in weird formats, files that won't play, missing information, etc.
This means that he has to move the files from the emails over to the music folder, and make a list of who has sent what for what fight. This is a pretty low-overhead task, because the files are already on the server, so they don't have to be downloaded and then uploaded, just moved and so noted. I have even done it from the sidekick when JB was going to be indisposed for longer than he was this time.
Once the files have been moved, and a playlist has been typed up, it is mostly automated from there.
It won't be too long now, I can assure you.
These guys should have been around when narbotic ran the place. Even if we don't get it up until tomorrow, it will still be faster than it was back in the day.
