Here is the musical lineup I have to date. If you are playing, and I don't have you listed, let me know! Please don't hold it against me. I am getting old, you know:

It wouldn't hurt if you let me know how much time you are planning on. As you can see, there is on average about 20-25 minutes per band, depending on how fast we can turn it over, and how quickly we get started. The Pathetic Wannabees are asking for only 10, but Octothorpe plans on a half hour, so it averages out, so far.

Further, here is the house setup. Well, actually, there is no house setup, so this is Octothorpe's setup. We may also have a small (40W) bass amp. If you need other equipment, you will need to bring it. Set up begins at 7, with soundchecks starting at 7:30, so if you have additional setup, please let me know, and plan on being early.

You forgot the following in that diagram:

- My acoustic (to go direct into the amp)
- Either Crash's PS-20 or my PX-300 (I'd prefer the PX-300 FWIW since I like its key action a little better - and yes there's a difference, even if you can't feel it! - though the PS-20 is just fine)
- The rock

We will have to swap out your guitars if we want to have a piano-style keyboard available full time, which I think is a good idea, since we only have one more channel on the snake. Do you want me to arrange for someone to run out and hand you guitars on the fly like they do in the big shows?

My set doesn't need an electric guitar or the Nord, and #'s set doesn't need the acoustic guitar or the piano (unless you were planning on mixing things up at the last minute).

Other bands' setups may require different things but mostly I was just meaning to point out that there'll be more equipment available than just that, and not that it'd all be hooked up at any given time.

Also for those bands who want two electric guitars for some reason, we will be providing two electrics (mine and Spud's; they're both Squiers, though Spud's has a whammy bar while mine does not).

If requested we can also each bring an MXL990 and an additional mixer which can provide phantom power to them, though they're probably way too sensitive for performance use.

I also have some other gear which could be brought, though I think the above should be fine.

To summarize, between me and Spud, the following instruments will definitely be brought and available for common use:

• Two electric guitars (one with whammy bar)
• An electric fretless bass
• An Ibanez electro-acoustic guitar
• Acoustic drum set
• Some model of Nord Lead (acoustic modeling synth)
• Either a Casio PS-20 or a Casio PX-300 weighted keyboard (no sense in bringing them both but also the PX-300 is more versatile in terms of instruments available)
• The various mics and amps Spud mentioned
• A couple of cheezy effects processors and one straight-up distortion pedal to bring the ROCK!!!

and there will be 8 XLR hookups on-stage and an adequate number of DI boxes for up to, what, four guitars total?

Also, we might want to discuss talent-pooling, for those who don't have a complete band coming.

The Nord Lead is a 2X.
I have 3 DI channels.
The P.A. has reverb that can be applied selectively.
You are correct, we can probably swap out keyboards, because for the most part, we won't be using them simultaneously.
If you want to lug your piano down instead of Crash's, feel free. One less thing for me to worry about. What's the output?

Hey, how many XLR channels are on that mixer, anyway? Doesn't the snake take them all up? We might want to bring one of our Yamaha MG10s to add a few more via the line input, though that might complicate things too much.

The PX-300 has pretty much the same outputs as the PS-20 - one set of 1/4", and two 1/8" stereo ones. Though I don't know how the PS-20 is, but the PX-300's 1/4" outputs are rather quiet so I usually just use the 1/8" (I have a stereo 1/8" to dual mono 1/4" cable which works swimmingly).

I suppose that means there'll definitely have to be something different for the keyboard, in any case, so it'd probably have to get routed to the mixer separately from the snake. So now I'm thinking that one of the MG10s would be a *really* good idea.

9 channels on the mixer. I assume we are using 8 from the stage, due to the snake. One is free for CD/laptop, etc. as needed.

I usually hook up the PS-20 to the mono 1/4", through a DI to the mixer.

Okay, at least for my set we'd need two DI channels, then, between the bass and the keyboard. Good thing the acoustic doesn't need DI (yay for condenser pickups).

It's official: Rachael and I will not be there for this. It's just not feasible this time.

Okay, I just tried the line outputs on the PX-300 and they're not as bad as I remember. Nothing the mixer's preamp can't fix.

Glenn: Damn, sorry to hear that. We'll miss you there! But at least you'll be there in spirit, what with being on the invitations and so on.

Um, if I could be pencilled in for about ten minutes... that would be great! I may back out though... but I wouldn't require anything outside of what you got.

Please forgive my n00bosity (in live playing), but I'm trying to figure out what goes where, connection-wise.

P++ Electric bass: can it run through one of the unused DI jacks, since the # bass will be showing up on a couple of songs, and that jack won't be available

P++ vox: 2 mikes available, nada problema.

P++ guitar: bringing a 50 watt combo amp for this. Can mike it, or run it direct if that's easier.

P++ drums: Um. Heh. Bringing 1-3 drum machines. Would bringing a mixer to run them through simplify the connections on the "house" system's end? (Behringer Eurorack 1202, 4 mono ins, 4 stereo ins).

20-25 minutes sounds about right for our set. We won't be channelling the Ramones.

Guitar amps welcome. No more mics to mic them though, so bring one.

As far as DI goes, right now there are three total. We can plug and unplug of course, as long as there are never more than three in use at a time. On the other hand, I could always buy more....

As fluffy mentioned, we both have a Yamaha MG10, so there could potentially be plenty of on-stage mixing pre-snake for the drum machines.

I'm thinking if it's absolutely necessary, we can just route an MG-10 through a DI box. though that's where major messiness starts to creep in so we should try to avoid it, and really who needs more than 8 inputs in a set for a small show anyway?

Errr, all the drum machines wouldn't be firing at once, we're splitting up the set between the two of us Screwheads for the programming duties. Dunno if that means anything or not, signal-wise. Thanks again for helping us get this figured out!

It turns out I wont be able to make it up to Seattle for this momentous occasion... but I send ROCK to all of you -- most especially to man of the hour Spud. I was looking forward to meeting alla youses!

So, of all the drummers coming (there ARE drummers, right?) can any of them do jazz-style drumming? I'm doing something a bit different for this set compared to my usual standards.
