Available in red, green and blue, my Tank Top submission is complete and barring any unforseen issues uploading, will be in for the fight.

Man, I really didn't want to have to post this, but it's just not workin'. I'm pretty pleased with the lyrics, but I just can't do anything with them. Now I know better than to write lyrics without a melody in mind. It was weird, the only melodies I could come up with were Rancid-type punk rock or Hoyt Axton-type country. And since I wrote this one for my daughter, I didn't want to do that to the song. So, I'm going to sit this one out ... dangit!

Good luck everyone!

I like your words. I've got "....thong with Kompressor's face on" stuck in my head, and I haven't even heard the music yet. :)

My (first) submission is in

Post by MintyHandy »

Well, I found out about this site this morning, started writing my first submission at around 5pm today, and finished mailing it in about ten minutes ago (11:30pm local time). To paraphrase j$:

Done and submitted for 'Man Speaking German'. Mine also has words (in three languages).

*Note: two of the languages are not the native tongue of the speaker, and frankly, I have no idea if it's really saying what it's meant to be saying. Hopefully one of the German-speaking forum members will be so kind as to let me know how it came out once it is posted. The song's meaning changes quite a bit if you speak German (and if I got it right).

*Also Note: somehow I managed to get this done without any accidental recording of my dogs barking. This is a milestone. The dogs, however, are saddened.

So you're a fast worker, a polyglot, modest, and a dog owner. I think I'm going to like you.

Unexpected!

I am in both Man Speaking German and Tank Top. Why subject people to one terrible song when you can double their discomfort!?

Oh joy ... an instrumental composer and a double-submitter in the same fight! All we need now is a song with a lyric that clearly has no relation to the title; and 'man speaking german' wins the 'I'm-coming-round-to-urinate-through-your-letterbox' award for most unwritten songfight lore violations.

Perhaps I'll record The Cheeky Song off the radio and submit it at 32 kps.... :) Where is Blue when we need him? he does this righteous indignation so much better than I do ...

The Hip Cola rules!!!! Great job on the cram brother. Well worth it. Redcar is in with Turn The Power On.

Oh ya and Minty what did you do give the little puppies sedatives or a nice big bowl of fool, or a long walk before recording? Good to hear that you are about. Songfight kicks!!!!!!

Are we here to make music or worship the rulebook? I don't especially care whether the lyrics are strictly appropriate to this week's title, or if there's any at all. If I enjoy the result, I'll vote for it.

First submission this week from Leaf/8LO collab project. We hope to substantially reduce the piss-in-your-letterbox factor.

Beef Animals is a better anagram than Lesbian Fame, right?

Those are very good ideas. I did more of a [recordrecordrecord]*bark*bark*bark*"SHUT UP!"*silence*[recordrecordrecord] kind of thing.

...a polyglot...

Just to be clear, I only speak one language, although I can exchange pleasantries in two others. I think the attempts at German in my song will amuse every German speaker who visits, which is in and of itself a good thing, I think...

As the saying goes, if I had more time I would have written a shorter, bassier Tank Top submission.

Wait...no Leaf. So shouldn't that be Hip Trip? or Trip Cola? or Tonehipper? Or whatever the duo is called.
