Your announcement prompted me to check my own tally - and Caravan Ray cracked the half-ton 2 weeks ago with So Weird.

So its 50 each and Steve D on 51 - I'll race you both to 100!
You're on! - but why does Steve get a head start? I think we should have one of his deleted :-)
I get a head start because I'm old and feeble.

Steve
Yes - that was my reasoning too.

Though looking at the list of fighters with 50 or more entries - it may be an intresting race to see who can be second to 100 (I don't think any of us can beat Wreckdom). Octothorpe and J$ have been pretty quiet recently - so that leaves Melvin and The King as frontrunners. And it seems HoMo will also be adding to his tally this week

WreckdoM (92)
Octothorpe (72)
Johnny Cashpoint (65)
King Arthur (64)
Melvin (64)
Hostess Mostess (55)
Klownhole (52)
Steve Durand (51)
Caravan Ray (50)
Ross Durand (49)

I think that Melvin will be second to 100 unless he gets rich and famous first.
He's like the energizer bunny. He enters every single week. It really isn't fair to us mere mortals.

In this race, are we talking about solo entries, or solo plus collab? Because I would be at 43 entries with TGFM, and I haven't been around near as long as a good deal of you. ;) Sure sure, if we counted all the collabs the people above have done, then I'd still be pretty far down there, but I'm catching up!

Not only that, but his entries are nearly always very good or great. Just churning out great music every week. Those of us who make tons of entries usually only hit a decent song every once in a while (or at least, not every time), but its great fun. Some of Melvin's songs could go down as SongFight classics at some point. Damn talented bastard.

Nope. It's much harder to track, especially when you add in collabs and band name switches. Example- WreckdoM is currently at 92 under that name. They are actually well over 100 already but its harder to keep track of WreckdoM, the Tiny Horses of Roquefort, Sven vs. WreckdoM, Geoffrey Glass, There's a Mosquito in my WreckdoM, MC Feat, The Mod K Crew, Big Matt Hyatt and his Rusty Red Riders, Juiceharp, Blue v. WreckdoM, Phunt my WreckdoM, HipWreckd, their collab with Karl's Mom and the Delicate Flowers f/ WreckdoM, The Angry n00b, Burt Effin Reynolds....

Hi all,

Chris Cusack here--sometime listener, first time songfighter. I submitted a song for "Thank God for Memphis" this week, and would love to hear any comments/feedback anyone may have--as long as you're not a total jerk about it. Um, ha ha.

So I thought. I guess I'll have to start writing two songs each week I do a song with the Urethras so I can keep creeping up there. :)

Yeah, people will be total jerks. Just be ready for it. Even if you are great, someone will still be a total jerk, but even more so if you suck. :) What you want to do is learn who to listen to, and who to ignore, and hopefully you will improve over the course of time. But don't get discouraged after the first song...or first 10 songs..or first 30 songs and 11 collabs.... he he

This is my first Songfight, too. My song's not even good, and people will say it sucks. (Don't get any presuppositions, though - I may be underestimating myself.) But that's life, and that's SongFight.

What is it about Memphis that's got everyone writing songs this week?

Alas, due to a super busy couple of days, I had to withdraw. Hopefully Take950'll be back next fight.

I should have stuck with that mentality. I got bored one day and quick-threw together a song. It'll probably get some major razing.

Hey newbies! Good to hear you're preparing for negative reviews. You will get them. And they will be mean, dismissive, condescending, rude, and glib.

Remember: Don't Respond To Reviews.

I know you'll want to. Don't. A dickhead reviewer isn't going to recant. Your replies are obvious and pointless. It's all been tried and none of it works. So don't bother. If you absolutely must post something, just say "thanks for the feedback" and move on.

Yeah, even if you respond by asking a question for further information about a certain comment, you probably won't get any :)
