Sweet ass! I love Memphis! Memphis is my party town (3 1/2 hours from here and on the way to my dad's house in Mississippi). If you ever go there, YOU MUST CHECK OUT THE FLYING SAUCER for over 200 beers, plus The Rendevous for the best BBQ ever (it's in an alley and hard to find, but delicious!).

I've got a basic blues tune written already, and as a bonus, its a song I've been wanting to write for a while anyways (about Memphis). Hopefully I can get a drummer for this tune? PM me someone! It's gotta be raw (think George Thorogood/Jim Morrison/Wages).

Oh, and I'm in!

So I had this awful thought this morning about doing something about Martin Luther King from the viewpoint of a really racist KKK southerner stereotype... I'm not sure even Randy Newman could pull that one off, though...

Back to the drawing board...

I think I'm going to concentrate on my Velvet Underground cover instead of doing this. I like the title, but I've done something blues-based two weeks in a row as it is.

Let me know if you want me to wank out some guitar or harmonica on your song, but beware that I'll probably only do one take.

I don't know exactly where this title lights me up yet. I'm feeling something dark and folksy, with a BLT twist. I'll know it the second I start playing it.
.....heh, I guess that's how it always works anyway.

Is this going to be the live fight title? It's an... interesting choice for a show in Atlanta.

Mine's still about the Memphis in Tennessee. And how it's not really the most awesome city ever.

From my research it appears that Ptah was the primary god for Memphis.

I was going to take the same angle but right now it looks like I won't be submitting anything.

I grew up in Gurdon, Arkansas. Though I have not often been to Memphis, Tennessee, it seems like home to me.

Thus, a song came together almost instantly, and as the coming week will be very burdened with work, I went ahead and turned it in.

I hope this one uploads without cutting out, but I know this internet is a curious thing, and these things happen from time to time.

I'm looking forward to hearing the various takes on Memphis, of every kind, person, and place, as the fight unfolds.
