The Pannacotta Army - Halloween Lullaby

There are plenty of scary traditional fairy tales told to children at bedtime so why not a dark lullaby, and it's just coming up to the right time of the year too.

No monsters lurk beneath the bed
The wardrobe is hiding no undead
The creaks you hear are just the stairs
Not werewolves trying to catch you unawares

Close your eyes and make the night your friend
It won’t lead you to a grisly end

The zombies you imagine loom
In the darkest corners of your room
Don’t rise up on all hallows eve
That’s just a tale they want you to believe

There’s isn’t any need to say a prayer
There are no vampires out there

Don’t be afraid to turn out the light
You won’t be swallowed by the night
The sandman won’t come to steal your eyes
While Morpheus sings you lullabies

Celestial Drift - In a Quiet Room

I used to gaze up at the stars
from the back seat of your car
when we would travel so far

You used to look up at the planes
and you would tell me all their names
though to me, they looked all the same

But now I sing to you like you sang to me
In a quiet room

I tell you, I will always miss
the days we used to catch those fish
and you would fry them so delicious

Oh how I really wish we could
take one last ramble in the woods
those views were always so good

But now I sing to you just like you sang to me
In a quiet room

But now I sing to you just like you sang to me
In a quiet room

The Alleviators - The First Watch

Follow my voice
Wordless and warm
Touch within air
Thought without form

Mind growing still
Heart taking flight
A hollow space filled
The day finding night

And I will take the first watch
And I will take the next
And I will keep your promise
Safe and strong
And you can take your rest

Lights out, breath in
You deserve a little ending
Can’t always be beginning
Sink down
You’re safe here in the dark

And I will take the first watch

So you can lean on me babe, oh
I’ll keep the fire warm
Lean on me babe, oh
I’ll keep you in my arms

Eyes closed
Skies open
The night is full of wonder
Inside you is the same-colored spark
You know
You’re safe among the stars (with me)

And I will take the first watch
Take your time, I’ll still be here when you come home

Just lean on me babe, oh
I’ll keep the fire warm
Lean on me babe, oh
I’ll keep you in my arms

And I will take the first watch
And I will be right here when you wake
And I will take the first watch
And I will be right here you wake

Cavedwellers - The Only Way Out

There is sleep and there is the long sleep. This lullaby alludes to both.

V1
Cover your eyes
Your limbs paralyze
You did the best that you could
Turned your dreams into shoulds
So go in deep
Let your dream tea steep
For tomorrow brings
Some difficult things
And I wish I could see you triumphant
Just as you deserve to be
I’m not afraid or reluctant
I know you will be what you’ll be

V2
Go to sleep
Go to sleep
All the nervousness fades
When you drift through the gates
To eternity
I’ll see you in dreams
I will hold your hand
When you don’t understand
Why I’m gone it’s not easy to tell you
All the things that I’ve held in my heart
When I missed you by hours
Before I would have to depart

Bridge
Well nothing is easy
But you know it’s the way it must be
I try to tell you again

V3
To go to sleep
Give in to sleep
There’s a lot to be done
By the light of the sun
So go to sleep
You’ll need energy
For tomorrow brings
Some difficult things
And I wish I could wipe out your doubt, dear
Right by your side I would be
But the only way out, dear
Is a way that will lead back to me

Micah Sommersmith - The Rain on the Rooftop [SHADOW]

I hear the rain on the rooftop
I hear the wind in the trees
I hear your heart going tick-tock, tick-tock
As you lie here with me

God set the rain on the rooftop
God set the wind in the trees
God set your heart going tick-tock, tick-tock
God set you here next to me

God keep the rain on the rooftop
God keep the wind in the trees
God keep your heart going tick-tock, tick-tock
God keep you here next to me
God keep you here next to me

The Moon Bureau - Let The Moonlight Carry You Home [SHADOW]

The toil is over and if you don’t sleep
You’ll find yourself living someone else’s dream
So surrender to Luna, join hands with Selene
Let the moonlight carry you home

This thing that we’re building we can’t make alone
But it’s the best feeling that you’ll ever know
To live in a house that you call your own
Where the moonlight carries you home

I know there’s work to be done
But unfinished business is tomorrow’s son
We’ll be up at dawn working as one
Until then we’re gone
In a dream

The labors await and do them we must
But tonight we sleep the sleep of the just
I don’t believe much but one thing I trust
The moonlight will carry us home
The moonlight will carry us home

Falcon Artist - Lullaby My Baby Boy [SHADOW]

So close your eyes my little baby boy
Your daddy loves you so much he could cry
As he looks at you when you are fast asleep
And also he looks in your sheets
From the day that you were born
It was on a Sunday morn
When first I saw you with those big blue eyes
I knew right then you were a big surprise

CHORUS
So as I sing to you this lullaby
It’s time for me my son
As I watch you sleep
That I have to say goodbye and run

You were the best thing that came into our lives
We waited long enough for you to be born
And it was a joyous occasion
When you were born on that Sunday morn

The day you were born
It was a special day for me and your mother
Because you were our baby boy
And there was no other

So hush little baby boy and go to sleep
And dream of good things under your sheets

CHORUS

It’s time for me my son
As I watch you sleep
That I have to say goodbye
So close your big blue eyes
And sleep tight
And daddy wishes his baby boy a good night

Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby for you my baby boy

My Broken Demo Tape - Little Prince (Benji’s Lullaby) [SHADOW]

“Little Prince” is a song written after the book of the same name. The book carries new meaning for me (Tom) as an adult. Although I discovered the story in my adulthood, I plan on reading it to my child. In July, we found out my wife was pregnant. I hope this is a lullaby I can sing to my child as they continue to grow through the years.

Close your eyes now my Little Prince
A brand new journey awaits my Little Prince
You'll break down all the walls
that were closing in
So when you've lost your only rose
you'll find a new way to love again

Where'd you run to now my Little Prince
are ya in the desert still my Little Prince
I've got nothing for you but these drunkards and weathered kings
So if you're standing all alone
Just follow the birds there
Let them take you home

You have much to know
so much room to grow
He fell gently
As a lonely tree

Bless your heart my Little Prince
Don't answer to anyone my Little Prince
You'll find roots here on Earth
They need to be tended to
Yes they need to be cut
Lest we forget the work we've done
And all the catastrophe we've let them cause

You'll have much to know
so much room to grow
He fell gently
as a lonely tree
Have no fear for me
All I found was peace

Close your eyes now Little Prince
A brand new journey awaits my Little Prince
And a brand new planet awaits my Little Prince

SpinTown & Company - Villager Lullaby [SHADOW]

This was written for SpinTunes 23 Round 4. The challenge was, "Rest Your Weary Head: Write and record a lullaby."

A.I. warning! I couldn't have been eliminated any more thoroughly, so I wasn't worried about getting reinstated this round. As solidly in the shadow realm as I could be, I did decide to use A.I. a bit for the lyrics. I'll detail exactly what I did.

I decided to write about a villager trying to get their child to go to sleep while a hoard of zombies lurked just outside. I wanted the song to feel like a lullaby you've heard in the past, but spooky. With Halloween coming up & the topic I decided to write about I figured spooky was a requirement.

I started off by Googling popular phrases in lullaby's & terms related to sleep. And made a list of words to pull from when writing. Next I used A.I. and asked it for phrases that could be used in a lullaby. It gave me 20 phrases. I ended up using the following:

"Close your eyes, my dear."
"The moon is shining bright."
"Hush now, my little one."

Now I edited 2 of them a bit, but the 1 line was used word for word. I basically had the story I wanted to tell in my head & started writing & using the list of words & phrases when I felt it was appropriate.

Other things I'd like to mention is that the line, "bring back the light" is meant to reference a popular Minecraft song called "Take Back The Night".

Musically I told Joe I wanted it to feature a music box, maybe some soft piano & strings. I requested the instrumental section & the ending vocalizing. But Joe was the one tasked with putting everything together, and he used no A.I. on his end. Instead of recording his usual harmony track to back the chorus vocals, he recorded a whispered track to add to the spooky vibe.
He also added some record player noise at the beginning & end for the same reason.

(Verse 1)
Hush now, my child, the monsters are near,
The moon’s shining bright, but we're safe in here,
Outside our little home, shadows start to crawl,
Listen to the moaning, just beyond the wall,

(Chorus)
Sleep tight, little one, don’t you make a sound,
The zombies are lurking, with maybe some drowned,
Close your eyes gently, to bring back the light,
I’ll guard you from darkness, all through the night,

(Verse 2)
The gate has been closed, and the dogs on guard,
For undead who dare, to come into our yard,
The windows are shuttered, the door’s bolted tight,
They cannot break in, and give you a bite,

(Chorus)
Sleep tight, little one, don’t you make a sound,
The zombies are lurking, with maybe some drowned,
Close your eyes gently, to bring back the light,
I’ll guard you from darkness, all through the night,

(Bridge)
*Instrumental*

(Chorus)
Sleep tight, little one, don’t you make a sound,
The zombies are lurking, with maybe some drowned,
Close your eyes gently, to bring back the light,
I’ll guard you from darkness, all through the night,

(Verse 3)
Now snuggle into bed, so you can count sheep,
As your eyes get heavy, just drift off to sleep,
A new morning awaits, let all your worries cease,
Within these four walls, you can rest in peace.

(Outro)
*vocalising*

Stacking Theory - Am I part of the problem (a lullaby for the broken hearted) [SHADOW]

close my eyes
listen to darkness
you’re not here
so I sing myself to sleep
I was sure you would come back to me

am i really this far from the truth
was the moment we had everything
did you find what you needed

i’m lost here
waiting for you

are you what i believed
am i part of the problem
or all of it, maybe

give me half a chance
i’ll build a bridge
and i’ll build it right to you

baby you know what we do
happiness comes on in two

am i really this far from the truth
every action so misunderstood
will i need to forever
sing my self to sleep, deep

ChasRock - Wherever We Go [SHADOW]

Let it all become a memory
Pull the curtains, that's the show
No longer consequential
Tomorrow's just potential
Time to go wherever we go

What a lucky feeling
To be safe and warm in bed
I could be out chasing moonlight
But my lady, she can spoon right
I'll gladly take the latter instead

Here I am for now
On the bridge from brain to soul
If you see me in there
I'll be taking good care
Of the place wherever we go
Whenever we go
Wherever we go

Stacking Theory - Harvest Lullaby [SHADOW]

When my son was young, I would sing Ragtime Lullaby from the film 'The Five Pennies' to him as he fell asleep.

Last week, he played that song on his trumpet as one of his final assessment pieces for Year 12.

I love him.

close yr eyes
uncurl yr fist

close yr eyes
remember this

the sun (the son)
will come
again tomorrow

close yr eyes

cardamom seed - Lullaby for the Lost [SHADOW]

Close your eyes and sleep again, no need to rise, just rest your head.
Though the day was long, the effort needed strong, there’s nowhere else for us to be right now.

We picked you up and we carried you when we could, with love
We gave you what we had to give but the years have been so tough

Close your eyes and sleep again, no need to rise, just rest your head.
Though the day was long, the effort needed strong, there’s nowhere else for us to be right now.

Did we hold on to you too tight? Was it loose, or was it just right for you?
It’s hard to say when the feeling goes, that’s all there was when no-one knows the truth

Close your eyes and sleep again, no need to rise, just rest your head.
Though the day was long, the effort needed strong, there’s nowhere else for us to be right now.

Hot Pink Halo - Circle Back Around [SHADOW]

A lullaby for the cans and bottles we take to the reverse vending machine.

Begin at the beginning they say
But who are they to say that?
If I go back how far do I go?
Some of us start half way through

Head on out
Pick it up
Send it through
A new life awaits me and you

When I grow up I'm gonna be
The sweetest thing in town
Bright and sharp
Full of fizz
I circle back around

Give it up, you're finished, they say
But who are they to say that?
Is this really the end? Are they done with me?
Am I on the downhill slide?

Head on out
Pick it up
Send it through
A new life awaits me and you

When I grow up I'm gonna be
The sweetest thing in town
Bright and sharp
Full of fizz
I circle back around

Begin at the beginning they say
But who are they to say that?
If I go back how far do I go?
Some of us start half way through

Definitely Not Secretly Glennny - Glennnouement [SHADOW]

===============INTRO========================

Previously, on Definitely Not Secretly Glennny:

I don't remember this laser battle at ALL!!

Paulo, yo no le reconozco, no intiendo, no comprendo!!!
Que lastima!!!!

It looks like he's wearing a mask, gasp

Oh, it's just still Glennny underneath it

Man, don't you just hate it when an episode ends on a cliffhanger, then they resolve it right away in the next episode and it's just not a big deal at all?

Wait, there's another mask, gasp

It's just Glennny again.

This multiple mask gag is just like Shaggy and Scooby. From physics alone their heads should be getting smaller and smaller.

Shaggy: That's right, man. In our day, under all those masks their head was only the size of a baked potato

Scooby Doo Giggle (hee hee hee hee hee)

(Thanks, Tommy!)

Last mask, but I'm all out of gasps.

Is this a tiny...robot Glennny...head...?

===========Maybe Possibly Probably=================

[Robo-music backing starts]

Powering up sounds

I am...possibly...probably....Glennny

oooo ooWaaa, oooowah ooh

Robo G: AH ha ha ha ha ha, you thought you saved Glennny, but it was actually I, Replicant Glennny from his Round 2 song!

DNSG: Never
Who remembers THAT guy?

RG: Now, in order to become the one TRUE Glennny, I will have to KILL YOU ALL and take his place

DNSG: But Glennny's definitely not secretly part of this band

RG: NO ONE BELIEVES YOU!!!!

RG: NOW PREPARE YOURSELVES FOR ROBO-COMBAT

RG: The only fair way to determine the one true Glennny, is with GLENNNY TRIVIA!!

=====================Who wants to be a Glennnyaire============

[Musical shift to game show theme/canned applause track?]

This is the Glennny game show
The prize is your life
But if you lose you're gonna
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

RG: Let the robo-questioning BEGIN.

RG: FIRST QUESTION:

1. Why does Glennny have that mysterious extra "n" in the middle of his name?

[Muzack version of Scatterbrain plays]

He fat fingered his keyboard on his first entry and it stuck
It was the name of his Scottish Clan
His parents messed up his birth certificate but were too embarrassed to ever change it

REAL ANSWER: It's been kind of a thing for decades where people keep adding more and more "N"'s to his name whenever he enters a room; even he's not sure why it started at this point.

This is the Glennny game show
The prize is your life
But if you lose you're gonna
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

DNSG: Die die die~ ....what, it's catchy.

RG: Lucky Guess, Definitely Not Secretly Dunces, let's see how you do on

QUESTION 2:

2. What is Glennny's favorite type of toast?

Butter on both sides
Le Chayim!
Trick question he has a gluten intolerance

REAL ANSWER: Seedy Rye toast, of course.

[Speeding up music, RG audibly a bit more flustered]

This is the Glennny game show
The prize is your life
But if you lose you're gonna
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

RG: Alright Definitely Not Secretly Guessing Correctly Randomly by some statistical miracle, even a stopped clock finds a nut sometimes

I don't think that's the right expr

SILENCE!

QUERY NUMERO TRES-O

That's also not proper Span

I SAID SILENCIO!

3. Where was Glennny born?

Planet Krypton
The most sanitary couch in Guitar Center
The back seat of a Corvette C6

REAL ANSWER: He was born in Salt Lake City, then moved to Rancho Cucamonga for High School and College. He also has a love of designer German strategy board games.

[Even more harried and cut off]

This is the Glennny game show
The prize is your life
But if you lose you're gonna YOU KNOW WHAT? SKIP IT, CUT THE MUSIC, THAT’S ENOUGH
We're going to SUDDEN DEATH (gong sound and fire sound effects, thunder from thunderriff mountain)

RG:(panting) This is the LAST and FINAL question, the hardest one. PREPARE YOUR SQUISHY MEAT BRAINS FOR A KNOWLEDGE FAILURE

4. What happened to Glennny's blonde Gibson ES-335 on October 8, 2013?

It dyed itself brunette
It became sentient and left
It went on tour with ENYA

REAL ANSWER: Trick question, Glennny didn't have a blonde Gibson ES-335 on October 8, 2013. That's the day his precious Cherry Red Gibson ES-335 was stolen. He didn't get the blonde Gibson until a week later. The loss of that Cherry Red Gibson still haunts him to this day.

[Robo meltdown and short circuit]

RG: NOOOoooooo, this can't be, aaaaaaaaah!! [Wa oh wa oh wa oh slowing down sound, small explosion]

We did it, DNSG, that'll show him we're the best Glennny (even though he's not secretly part of this band)!

====================Glennnicus========================

DNSG: You know...thinking back I'm almost certain in our band bio on the blog we said we were a rock TRIO, not a Quartet....

We never had a fourth member...?

So then...who...are you....?

GLENNNY: It's me guys, the real Glennny

Gasps [Scatterbrain very brief] SLAP
We really gotta fix that scatterbrain thing

GLENNNY: This whole thing is my fault, all of it

DNSG: Glennny, but why?

GLENNNY: I couldn't handle all the pressure of the pedestal you guys put me on, it was just all too much, I'm just a Glennny, like any other, even that Australian one from the shadow last round. In trying to cope with my Glennny-ness, my personality fractured into that evil Hardee's manager, and weird quiz replicant.

DNSG: But are you okay now?

GLENNNY: Yes, I've come to terms with all of the aspects of myself, I am me, the one true Glennny in this big Glennnyverse, and I wanted to help you guys, and make things right, because I am Glennny.

BSS's Geech, Ken, Martin, and Glennny: "I am Glennny"

DNSG: Didn't Glennny do the Sparticus bit for his own song

BSS: I am Glennny

DNSG: Okay, I guess we're gonna repeat the bit

DNSG: I am glennny!

DNSG: Wait, so Glennny, you were here the whole time?

GLENNNY: Just since round 3

DNSG: So YOU were the thing we didn't know for round 3, but revealing it early would have ruined the surprise for round 4! We sacrificed ourselves for our art

ART!

DNSG: I'm still a little sore about not getting reinstated, considering the level of effort of these things. Aren't you guys mad?

DNSG: Nah there's no way these meta comedy sketches would have ever made it out of round 3

DNSG: Yeah that's true.

DNSG: fair point

[Robot powering back up]

========================== Lullabye=================

Oh no, Robo Glennny is going out of control!
He's going to self destruct
We need to calm him down fast
[Sca doo bee doo]
SLAP

Okay Okay, let me see if this helps
(memory from Cowboy Bebop playing)
Spike?
Oh sorry, wrong one

[Real Lullabye starts] 6/8

You've had an unspeakable day
Found out that you were really a clone
And a robot to boot up, and so you'd go shoot up
the originals and take their place

An existential crisis
We can all empathize with
But we'd rather not die, so right now we'll try
to sing you a tune that pacifizes

So good night to robo Glennny
in the morning have a killing spree
but for now, tune down, get your slide out
and play the guitar in your dreams

but for now, tune down, get your slide out
and play the guitar in your dreams

Play the guitar in your dreaaaaaaams

[end lullabye]

==================OUTRO/WRAPUP=======================

OOOOoooooo

DNSG: I disconnected the power
He was plugged in the whole time and we didn't notice??
Couldn't one of you have tripped over the cord by accident? That would have made this round SO MUCH EASIER

DNSG: Look, it's Micah!

DNSG: He's here to tell us, we're reinstated and we've also won the final round??

MICAH: No

DNSG: He's here to tell us we're not reinstated, but we've won the special secret new category for most entertaining, worth triple the normal winnings and prestige?

MICAH: That's not a real thing, and also no.

DNSG: He's here to tell us that we're not reinstated, but if there WERE a special secret new category for most entertaining, worth triple the normal winnings and prestige, that we've won it, but have been sworn to secrecy and can never mention it to anyone else, even when asked at bloody knifepoint, wink wink?

MICAH: Did you just say "wink wink"? You know what, fine. I just wanted to let you know you left your car lights on at the bottom of the mountain.

DNSG: Well that does it gang! We made it to the peak of ThunderRiff mountain, ruined some Australian Glennny's house, beat Dr. V and an evil replicant robot, and DIDN'T win Micah's super secret award wink wink

You said the winking part again.

Pretty good day's work for a band that is

Definitely NOT NOT Secretly Glennnny
Was that a double negative?

Hey, instead of Definitely Not NOT Secretly Glennny, couldn't we just be Glennny?
Name was taken

(DNSG:DNSG playing in the background)

Siebass - Goodnight SpinTunes [SHADOW]

Notes: I only have one harmonica in C Major, so that means all harmonica songs must be in C or G; this one is in C, ha.

Good night SpinTunes

Did you figure it out? Which round? Did you get the rest of the trio pegged? Everyone loves a good mystery.

I set out to have the most fun of anyone this SpinTunes; I'm not sure if I succeeded but I'm pretty sure I hit top three. I hope you all enjoyed the sketches and songs from me and DNSG. Two bands is shockingly way, way more work than just one! Hat's off to Travis, Glennny, Allurabass, Gizo, and anyone else for pulling double or triple duty on occasion.

I've done a cover medley the last two spintunes I've participated in, that's a bit too much work for my time this week, so I tried something a bit different this time around,

Lyrics
---------------------

It's been a long mile and a half, I'll contend
And I'll Definitely Not Secretly amend
Wipe your eyeliner off, bottle up your best quaff
Since it's not just the start, it's the end

I still don't know much about Minecraft
If you want 2CME text or call
Your directions are crap, my gun's next to my map
And my console has an angry firewall

BR

Stop by for vespers at the last light of Wednesday
We'll make it one stubborn song at a time
Amy's ducking my calls, the relationship falls apart
But my Corvette can turn on a dime

You said it gets worse with age,
But did you mean it, and can you tell me why?
I'm carved up at the joints, when I get the most points,
And kiss my next round goodbye

If only music was just a theory,
We wouldn't need Roadies or music class
Can you believe I'd be dreaming of smoke covered rooms
And a lamb with a dog eating grass

It was a dignified proposal
Miscommunicated on the telephone
But now I'm out of songs, thanks for tagging along
Music's better when you're not alone

I set out to have the most fun
With a fast and loose absurdist style
But the funning was worth it, I hope that the mirth it
Brought you all gave you a smile

Lose or you wintunes, I'm glad we have SpinTunes
I'm wishing you all good night

Lose or you wintunes, I'm glad we have SpinTunes
I'm wishing you all good night
I'm wishing you all good night
Fading out is the coward's right...
