Freddie Jones, a regular performer at my work is selling a complete Rogers drumset for $200. 3 toms, ride, and 2 crashes (I think). All hardware, etc., included. Brand new heads.

What a fucking deal. PM me if you want me to hook you up.

Note: I payed $300 for basically the same set, but with old heads, no crashes, and no hihats. God damnit.

If no one here jumps on this, I'll buy the set myself and resell it.

Hey All,

I just got the new Guitar Center flyer. It seems the M-audio Audio Buddy is on sale for $50 right now. If you go in on 11/26 between 8-10, they will pay the sales tax. That's a pretty good deal on a good preamp. Those of you looking to improve the quality of your recordings would do well to pick one of these up.

If you need real multitracking software, the Tracktion that people were talking about a few weeks ago is now FREE..

I payed for this last year, and I know somebody else just bought it, so this is kind of a slap in the face, but supposedly we'll get a discount on the forthcoming Tracktion 2.

anyway, I highly recommend this. It's a no-brainer if you are currently recording with Microsoft Sound Recorder, or whatever the hell some of you guys are using.

New stuff on sale via the jazz club:

We've got a pair of Alesis reverb units. One of them is a midiverb, the other is a digiverb or something. I think I'm gonna take the midiverb, but the digiverb he's selling for like $40. PM me, and we can hook you up.

i just got the new Musician's Friend catalog (aka Musician's Crack) and they are selling off Propellerhead Reason 2.5 for $200 (normal list is $500, usually sells for about $350). this is an unbelievably good price for this software, and if you're unfamiliar with it, i'd say it is the single most powerful and utilized piece in my recording studio right now.

Me too (besides the guitar and Pro Tools).

These guys: http://sytek-audio-systems.com/ are selling their 4-channel mic pre for half off during January. I might pick one up and if it sounds better than the Mackie I'm using, keep it. IIRC, Steve Albini has some of these in his studio.

I was totally psyched until I started to think about it in detail.
I downloaded the 40 page build 'manual' http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/i-5297/i-5297.pdf
and then looked at the tools required to do the job.
I'm not the most patient of people, I used to get frustrated building model aircraft - they never got finished, pilots got lost, glue in hair, paint on carpet etc.
Anyway to cut a long waffle short, you really need a fully equiped workshop to build one of these.
the best required tool imo is the Half-round bastard file. Useful either way.

They're good. Also check out http://www.lmii.com, which is where my dad gets most of his supplies (all of my acoustics were built by him).

that's funny, it describes me to a "t". Similarly, I thought "HEY...why don't I just build my own pickups for my crappy guitar?" Then I looked at the pickup winding machine, and realized that winding by hand would be arduous, long andprobably would not give me the result I wanted. sigh....

Musiciansfriend.com has the M-audio Quattro on sale for $149 right now. It is a 4-in/4-out usb soundcard used by Loyalty Day and Glenn Case. You need preamps for this thing, but this is still a good deal.
