Songfight Trivia

Post by erik »

Okay, I figured that one of you has to have just enough OCD to either already know the answer to this question, or to have the drive to find the answer to this question that I've been curious about:

What was the first non-instrumental songfight song with a title that does not appear in the lyrics?

It should come as no surprise to you that I am answering this.

I could be wrong, but my limited research suggests that <a href="http://www.songfight.org/music/the_last ... .mp3">Jeff Monty's "The Last Words of Cotton Wool"</a> has the honor of being the first songfight entry to not use the title in the lyrics.

Incidentally, the first instrumental would come a couple of fights later with <a href="http://www.songfight.org/music/asassina ... p3">Beau's "Assassinate Queen Genius"</a> entry.

Again, feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I might be.

ROCK!

Because I am probably borderline OCD? (undiagnosed)

Also: because I care about the archives, and I love Songfight!

ROCK!

Okay, has a non-instrumental songfight song with a title that does not appear in the lyrics ever won? If so, when did it happen for the first time?

Also, what was the first song to include a previous title in the lyrics?

If such a song has ever won, what was the first time?

There are early cases where a variation on the title is used in the lyrics. I looked for the first instance where none of the main words in the title were used. My research indicates that this first honor belongs to <a href="http://www.songfight.org/music/my_siste ... r.mp3">The John Benjamin Band - "My Sister"</a>

This one would take time to figure out. Not up to the task at the moment, because I sleep soon. This is a devious question, by the way.

This one would also take some time. Not up to the task at the moment, because I sleep soon. This is not as evil as question #2.

Side note: First instrumental songfight winner = <a href="http://www.songfight.org/music/adaptati ... Adaptation" by Keado.</a>

Others are encouraged to assist me on this. There is a good chance that I will forget about it until months from now, otherwise.
