Old People Shopping in the Afternoon

Old People Shopping in the Afternoon by Johnny Cashpoint

Stray old people shopping in the afternoon
Like zombies, feasting on the brains of youth
Precinct smells of piss and tension
Catheters and un-spent pension
Teenagers need intervention

Hey old people shopping in the afternoon, shopping for the afterlife
Hey old people shopping in the afternoon, looking for the nicest price

Gay old people sleeping in the afternoon
Like werewolves, waiting for the rising moon
Precinct smells of death and terror
OAPs wear kids like leather
You and I will live forever

Hey old people shopping in the afternoon, dropping when the price is right
Hey old people shopping in the afternoon, feasting on the easy lie

When I’m old, I hope it’s said
“He stayed alive ‘til he was deadâ€

Old People Shopping In the Afternoon, by MENBAH!

We're walking hand in hand through a society
That inherently deemphasizes stability
You'll be okay, sweet thing, just as long as you're with me
I'll be all right as well if that condition is met

Sometimes I ponder just how we got this far
I can kill entire species from the comfort of my car
But it'll be okay, show me the way to the next whiskey bar
Belly up, little girl, we'll share a cigarette

Conditioned to wake up and commence to consume
I'm not sure what that spells but it smells like doom
Blink once or twice, you'll be surprised at just how soon
We'll become old people shopping in the afternoon
Let's go far away from here

When everyone starts looking exactly the same
It makes me wonder if we understand the rules to this game
What I really mean is let's blow this scene; it's getting pretty lame
We will ride to the horizon; see how far we can get

We're living in a society that's a student body, perpetually
Three credits shy of its degree
But they can do their lab work without me and you
We're gone

Our culture is one thing, and our souls are quite another
And we'd spend our time a lot differently if I had my druthers
But it's not so bad, nobody said we had to listen to our mothers
There's a better life for us--there's a better life, I bet

Conditioned to wake up and commence to consume
I don't know what that spells but it smells like doom
Blink once or twice, you'll be surprised at just how soon
We'll become old people shopping in the afternoon
Let's go far away from here, just anywhere

Everything's so awful, I just can't believe it
But you know what they say, girl: take it or leave it
You know what I choose.
