So Thursday I was trawling through the Internet, checking out new podcasts primarily. And I figured, "Man, there's a load of crap being played, I wonder why they chose that?" Some podcast mentioned the Podsafe Music Network. You guys know my songs aren't that good, but I've already been on 4 podcasts in the past two days. It's kinda crazy, but hey, some random guy doing little podcasts that three of his friends listen to has played my music, thus those three friends have heard my music, thus random IPs I don't recognize have been popping up on my site and listening to more of my songs. The circle of music joy is complete.

So if you have music that you want to share throughout the land of the Internet, check it out.

I was going to start a new thread called Favorite Podcasts, but here it is. I started my radio-format show a little over a year ago (which suffers now due to time and energy restrainsts), and then created another that's just my songs when they come out, called Roymond Single Serving. It's so easy to do but for real, engaging content, podcasting is an amazing, impressive and effective distribution method. That's why I had to try it out.

Let's list the podcasts we find that need to be shared with others, either single episodes or whole programs. I'll start:

1) All time favorite is IT Conversations. You get a little of everything, from geektech to biotech to save the whales, but all from brilliant people. These are either interviews or audio from conference sessions. Especially amazing are the PopTechseries. You can subscribe to any of the programs and even build a queue (I love that word!) from various single episodes and create a custom podcast feed for it. The site is brilliantly simple and accomodating. Doug Kaye is an amazing host and producer of IT Coversations.

2) Just listened to this conversation with Mike Post, the most successful television music producer in history. He has 2 pieces of music playing every minute of each day on TV. The show is about social entrepeneurs, something I am very into, but it can be pretty weak at times. In this one Mike Post is talking about his experiences moving through his musical career.

Hey all,

New episode of my "House of Delusions podcast" is available on <a href="http://www.spewgrass.com"target="blank">Spewgrass</a> right this very moment.

I have also created a <a href="http://www.myspace.com/houseofdelusions ... k">Myspace profile</a> for the podcast. Future bulletins about the podcast will probably be from that user in the future. If you are interested in knowing when it updates (which will be on Sundays), then befriend the house!

Jack is working on making an archive page for the old shows, but it isn't up yet (as I type this.) When it is up, you will know... because it will be accessible from the <a href="http://www.spewgrass.com"target="blank">Spewgrass</a> front page. Okay so this guy posted a very uhmm... let's say lo-fi podcast called "Becoming" and he only did five or six songs. And he didn't get any of them from song fight... but he post a Phunt Your Friends song AND a Josh Woodward song. And it's the same Josh Woodward... not the one from that site that rents peoples' teenage daughters. This, to me, is astounding coincidence.

For those of you who like wine, my friend Alan Baker, previously IT Director for MPR, hosts the CellarRat.org podcast. It's chuck full of cool info about wine making, tasting and the industry at large.

And, I always forget he uses my music for the opening theme. Now, gotta check about those performance royalties...

Phil Redmon and Brian F of Spy vs. Pie and the Daily Grind have started a podcast, or rather a Spy vs. Pie Popcast, where they discuss topics as varied as baby skunks, candy bars, comic books, Canadian stuff, Australians, toys, Ghostbusters, Songfight and more...

See, the appeal is that Brian is from Canada and Phil is from Minnesota, so they are in different rooms and entirely different countries while recording. They plan on songfightin' together again and stuff, and they both draw comics too.

***The most recent installment has me, Heather Redmon, as a guest because Brian was out of town. Phil and I split a bottle of wine and blabber on for an hour. Good stuff.***

So anyway, you should check it out. They've done quite a few so far, so don't forget to go back through the archives.
