Remiss - How do you like the colors?
It's been a while since you up and left
and we've both gone on with life
So imagine my great suprise
when i got the letter you wrote last night
All the typical letter business
"So how are you doing, old friend?"
The part that surprised me most
was the postscript at the end
It said "I guess it's my fault that
we haven't talked in a while"
"What an astute observation,"
I noted with a smile.
You went on to ask me to write you back
and that you were doing alright
So I never thought I'd do this
but i'm writing you a letter tonight
How do you like the colors (colors)
in your brand new home?
And how do you like your new boyfriend
or are you still alone?
And even though I'm not a man who stands
to dwell upon the past
I guess my door is open
if you want another chance
Your letter made me think
about the choices we make in life
and it's a fact we can't take them back
whether they're wrong or right
If you realize you were too hasty
deciding we wouldn't work out
Well, everyone makes mistakes
second chances are what life's about
So if you decide to come visit
you know that it'd make my day
I've been just great without you
but i'd be better if you stayed
If you're happy where you are
then so be it, that's fine
But feel free to come back and stay
'Cuz I still wish you were mine
How do you like the colors (colors)
in your brand new home?
And how do you like your new boyfriend
or are you still alone?
And even though I'm not a man who stands
to dwell upon the past
I guess my door is open
if you want another chance

How Do You Like The Colors
How do you like the colors
On the magnet on your car
Do you remember when you bought it
Did you think it'd go this far
When you went and got your ribbon
Did you ever think they'd fade
Did your anger dull down with them
And the promise that you made
'Cause you used to say
This time
We won't run away
Not this time
This time we're here to stay
How do you like the colors
They get fainter every day
Will you go and buy another
When the yellow turns to gray
Was it proudly made in China
Or in the USA
Does it even really matter
If you can't read it anyway
But it used to say
This time
We won't run away
Not this time
This time we're here to stay
How do you like the colors
On the magnet on your car
Can you remember when you bought it
Did you think it'd go this far
And when you tire of the mission
Like the magnet on your car
Is it a modern-day condition
Or just part of who we are
How do you like the colors
On the magnet on your car
Do you remember when you bought it
Did you think it'd go this far
When you went and got your ribbon
Did you ever think they'd fade

How Do You Like the Colors
Everyday, I sit around and wonder why
Can't seem to get outside and stay dry
Weather's changing, cold wind, skys are gray
It feels like it's getting darker everyday
Pull my hands down, way into to my sleeves,
Wonder where's that spectrum that I used to see?
Grayscale all around, getting me down
Gotta get myself outta this town
Leave the city streets
Leave the cold concrete
Leave it all behind me
Background may be gray,
but there's no way,
that'll make my color slip away
I took the warmth for granted and where'd it go?
Bad days always seem to crawl by so slow
Rain always makes it hard to get out of bed
But I can't let this go to my head
I won't take this bland landscape
I'll get to an art store once I just can't wait
I'll buy colored pencils and fill in the town
and ask "How do you like the colors now?"
