I think this week I might try to dispell the myth that nothing rhymes with "Bitter Orange".

Pickle Juice

There'd better be at least one homage to Led Zeppelin (or Robert Johnson):

"Squeeze my pickle, baby, till the juice runs down my leg".

Hmm, is there any connection between the rise of brody and the demise of sonofsupercar?

Great titles for starfinger to do since he works best when working with food items.

I'm feeling fresh. I'm feeling frisky. I might try and actually enter a fight this week instead of pissing in the sidelines.

Today, I will piss in the spotlight!

i dunno, "blimps" is a pretty damn good song. and "dinga da donga" was a winner (IIRC?). i think it's unfair to categorise somebody as a 'one trick pony' simply for liking soup and not liking eggplant.

I read a bunch of the reviews about my first song, and I'm trying to change a lot of the new one to fit what people wanted in the other one ... it has more chords, etc. but I won't say much ... just don't want to get your hopes up in case you don't like it. :? I'm doing Bitter Orange.

I'm doing Bitter Orange if I can get motivated enough to do it tomorrow night. I was going to do it tonight but felt too blah to bother. :P

Here is to a better tomorrow. *cheers*

never change just to fulfill what you think are other people's desires. contrary to the idea that the voting thing may give, the heart of songfight isn't a popularity contest.

make the music that you like and want to share with others. if the reviews give you constructive criticism that you want to incoporate inyour songwriting, cool. but don't go chasing your tail trying to win the folks on the message boards over.

Yeah, but there's nothing wrong with a little experiment to see if you can give the people what they want. You're not writing a symphony here.

Somebody should write a song about Jason Orange, the disillusioned ex-Take That member whose career fell by the wayside; I've got quite a nice start on April Morning here so I'm gonna stick with it. Here's a free verse though in the hope that the song may come to fruition...

I rode Gary Barlows talent,
In the hope that I could make my millions
but I was left to live in the shadows
of Mark Owen and Robbie Williams

I have a different point of view. Sure, you can't please all the people all of the time. Also, I think changing a bunch of things at once is difficult and not very productive. On the other hand, when we first came on board, we got a lot of negative reviews. Rather then try to please everyone, we picked one item that seemed to come up a lot and worked on it. Once that particular item stopped appearing in the reviews, we picked another one and so on. Maybe it's production for a few weeks, then structure, then technique, etc.

We also target individuals. "Let's try to get a good review from Frankie". It is a good learning experience, and made us more versatile. Sometimes things just come out the way they come out without real intention or control. Attempting to appeal to someone's perceived taste helps give you a definitive musical goal, and teaches you to have control over your output. This of course, you can use later on to meet your own musical needs and artistic vision.
