cover other fighters

Post by Reist »

Has there ever been a fight where songfighters cover their favorite songfighter's songs? In my mind, this could be pretty cool if people signed up for it.

No, it's a great idea. Spud just typically chants "Pie Iesu Domine. Dona eis Requiem" along with the whacking.

Did you have any specific fighter(s) you were interested in hearing others cover? I think it's past time for a classic Frankiefight!

Nah... I think it's just that old "don't start a thread 'til you're sure it doesn't already exist" mandate.

Hxaro!

(...it's a good idea!)

Frankie sounds good ... I was actually thinking Octothorpe at first ... a lot more selection to choose from ... I'm really not too familiar with many of the artists here, aside from the ones who have entered songs recently.

Another cool idea would be if someone made up some song titles every week and we used them to write songs.

Okay so maybe it's been done before, but from what I can tell, not too recently ... so why can't we do it?

Find out if there's interest, figure out the rules (read the blurbs at the top of each sidefight's page at the link for more indepth details of each of the variants that have been done before), and go for it. That's what little sidefights are made of. Though for Official Coverfights, you've got to sell JB on it, as they're his purview (from what I gather).

And if you start it, be there to follow it through and finish it off too. That always helps. :D

you don't even need a fight to find Songfighters covering each other.

If you poke around a bit, I'm sure you could find a whole bunch of covers.

Just quickly I can find

The One Starfinger covers J$
Do The Math Starfinger covers #
On My Block J$ covers #
Fuzzy Logic Puce covers 1516 Puzzle

theres just a couple

Now I am not saying you shouldn't, but you might want to click here first.

My suggestion: pick a song you like from the SF archive, cover it, and post it in the Hxaro thread. Repeat. Encourage others to do the same.

I'll do it if you will*. :D

*not that Hxaro is really supposed to work like that, but still. I'd like to see more random acts of cover tune kindness, so I'll happily do this. Now, what to choose...

Oh ... I always saw Hxaro in the sidefight section, but I didn't know that my idea was the same thing ... I guess I'll do that.

Well, the Hxaro idea was sort of co-opted by shadowy (but benevolent) individuals who organized multi-song assaults of kindness on unsuspecting SongFighters. But before all that, it was just people doing stuff for people. And stuff.
So let's do!

Coverfights are fun, and they used to be pretty much the only sidefight until recently when everyone and his brother starts them. I called the next coverfight premise here: http://songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1528

What happened to that any way Ken? I just read the whole thread again and where it left off JB had annointed Erik Covermaster responsibility, but I haven't seen either one around lately. I know JB is still doing his thing behind the scenes obviously, but I think Erik is indisposed presently.

Since it was your idea originally, I think your first duty ought to be to see who's all still in. Here's a list of definite yey's for you from the thread:

Ken / Glenn Case / WeaselSlayer / Bjam / j$ / Lunkhead / Sven / Kamakura / Sausage Boy / HeuristicsInc / Caravan Ray / Niveous / The Idiot King

Maybe's:

Erik / The Hell Yeah's / King Arthur

Seeing as how I don't think this will start before NUR EIN ends, I'll say I'm in if for no other reason than to hear someone cover my "Tank Top". Also, it was asked whether or not you could only ask folks to cover your SF songs, so I'm sure you'll have questions aplenty to answer if you're going to try and get this thing flying again.

Good luck!

I would be glad to take the covermaster reigns, but there are too many sidefights going on right now I think. Unless we want a pretty long deadline. If people are interested in getting this going, send me a PM.
