Melvin and Wreckdom are my favs from this fight. There is also a very quiet song by a woman that I didn't quite hear.

The Official DJ Big Dick 'Give It To Me' Reviews:
Nasty Novice - This is awesome, at first I thought "this is pretty cool" then I heard the robot voice, which totally fucking rules. I like the fucked up synth that comes in when the robot voice does. A little long though.
8.5/10
Brick Pig - YAWN. Really boring, the song never goes anywhere or expands (or at least the 3/4 of it I listened to didn't).
3/10
WreckdoM - The twinkly synth (you know what I mean) is pretty cool, but the song doesn't do anything to keep my attention, needs more variation, or a robot voice.
5/10
Hostess Mostess - Desperately needs more stuff, like drums and more instruments, you know, shit like that. Doesn't sound finished.
4/10
Less Than Three - See above, except it's worse.
3/10
Abominominous - Started off cool, don't like the singing too much though. Picks up near the last 3rd, but it sounds a little too 'clean,' if that makes sense, I'd like to see it have more noise and shit like that.
6/10
UDAHL - Sounds like an instrumental because you didn't want to write lyrics, rather than an instrumental because it doesn't need lyrics. Really boring and the music isn't even good enough to make a 20 second instrumental, not to mention a however-the-fuck-long-it-was instrumental.
2/10
King Arthur - Didn't load for me, except for about 15 seconds of it, but it seemed pretty cool from that 15 seconds. Cool guitar.
6/10
Melvin - Melvin is as Melvin does.
Standard Melvin/10
Nasty Novice's song is pretty cool, but unfortunately I'm in the fight, so I voted for myself (& The Anchors) because we rule.

Give It To Me - Reviews
This fight went to some interesting places. Not complaining, I thought there would be more turbo-smut. Or a bratty little kid.
Abominominous - Great song! Beats, riffs, vocals, ...I thought that this was pretty complete in all areas and can only list them. Excellent!
The Anchors + DJBig Doodle - It's noisy but works, mostly early on. Some of the randomness works both for and against itself. Bright, occasionally bold.
Brick Pig - I like the progression and tempo. I also like what the vocals do and want to do, just not how the main one sounds. But what wins, of course. Nice.
Hostess Mostess - Good, energetic feel. Very positive vibe. I'm brought in by the strummy guitar. Good vocals and arrangement, 'right' amount of sections.
King Arthur - Great playing and groove. The changes here work so well because they're arranged well. I'd love to see a looser lead kicking it up just a notch as the end works itself up.
Less Than Three - I really like the main guitar idea. The other changes are good also. The singing is well balanced, allowing the song some room to breathe where needed.
Melvin - Well structured and crunchy with perfect layers. Excellent vocal work, though I'm more interested in what they're doing than saying. And that's not meant to be as harsh as it may sound. Tight.
Nasty Novice - I like it. I picture a sterile subway station type area with flourescent lights - looping. Could be hell. It may not be the first one I think of to associate with the fight, but I still like it.
Paco - At least I'm good at porno guitar.
UDAHL - I kind of like the riffs on this one, but would rather hear a different vocal ala Priest or something. Maybe that's dated, but you know.
WreckdoM - Scary and filthy! Jim Jones in heat! I find this one, like the "No Relation", to be quite color-filled. Vibrant and not harsh. Pretty cool.
Thanks all, for the music. I will vote for someone besides me, prior to the deadline. See ya!

Less Than Three – OMG, please stop whining with that terrible wispy voice about a Popsicle, your sweater, and your Tool CD. Terrible.
Nasty Novice – Ten seconds in and I can already tell this is crap. I’ll give you a minute to do something interesting. No, I didn’t think so.
The Anchors and DJ Big Doodle – had potential, but too many samples forced into too many tight corners=noise.
WreckdoM – Not good (but surprisingly the best so far!)
King Arthur – The lyrical subject matter is a huge turnoff for me and I don’t really dig the “roots rockâ€

Abominominous:
Keeper. I like that the vocals aren't overwhelmed by
the instruments in this one.
Anchors & DJ Big Dick:
Nah, just not for me...
Brick Pig:
Keeper 'cause I like the song. The effect you're sending
the vocal through is very hissy... an organ or strings kinda
sound throughout the song might help mask it a bit. Kudos,
though, for not muting the vocal track during the non-singing
parts (i.e., the hiss would be way more annoying if it abruptly
came and went). Ooops, then at 2:55 or so you muted it for the
ending - at that point, I'd have just left it on there. A
very nice song, though, definite keeper.
Hostess Mostess:
Keeper. Nice harmonies, and it manages to rock without drums.
me:
Yeah, this came out pretty Dire Straits... I just don't rock
very hard, do I?
Less Than Three:
Music seems a little too "nice" for the words the singer is
singing.
Melvin:
Keeper. Some very nice lyrics in there ("is stupid defined by
what you actually do?").
Nasty Novice:
This just needs to go somewhere... lyrically, dynamically, music,
something needs to develop as the song goes on.
Paco del Stinko:
Keeper. Maybe not my fave of your songs from this week (the disco
storyline didn't grab me), but it sounds really good...
UDAHL:
Needs something on the bottom end, just to make a bigger sound.
Doesn't develop a story at all...
WreckdoM:
I like the SLJ samples. Overall, the songs of yours I like best
are the ones that make me laugh, and this one didn't get there...

I'd love to do some reviews, but so far I've had no time to listen. My whole life went completely off the hook right after I entered the fight -- huge production issues cropped up at work, and simultaneously we began a high-octane bathroom/spare bedroom/hallway/stairwell renovation at home. Sux from every direction right now. Wish I could have been more participatory. Sorry.
I don't really know what's going on with the vox or anything else. As I posted in a prefight thread, this was my first attempt at using Garageband. While I was doing my initial recording, everything was fine. But then for some reason when I started mixing, all my levels were suddenly extremely low. I kept having to boost them more and more. Eventually I boosted the vox so much that the signal-to-noise ratio became a noise-to-signal ratio, but I couldn't really do anything about it. (There isn't much of any effect on the vocals, by the way. I just doubled it, and added just the slightest smidge of reverb.) I think the only way I can fix it is to re-record it. Which I'm willing to do, but it will be quite some time into the future. After the aforementioned work crap and renovations are over. And then I have to go to China for a business trip. So just GET OFF MY BACK, WOULDJA!?!?!?!?!?frankie big face wrote:...vocal.... What’s going on there?
