I really liked this. The cinematography and Philip Glass's score are beautiful, and even Jessica Biel turns in a good performance. I turned off the "try to figure stuff out ahead of time" side of my brain, and I'm glad I did. There was a trailer for The Prestige in front, and that looks amazing, but the world is big enough for two magic movies. A-

Okay, I admit I slept through the first 20 minutes or so. Yes, I went to sleep immediately following the previews. I was tired, but I have to partly attribute my narcolepsy to Phillip Glass' score. I guess you know what you're getting when you hire Phillip Glass to score your movie, but I didn't like how much this thing cast its minimalist shadow on the whole film. On the whole, I found the movie to be dull, but my wife liked it a lot and I trust her opinion more than mine. I did think Paul Giamatti turned in an amazing performance. He's the type of guy you might consider a one-trick pony and then you see something like this and it's pretty amazing.

ha, thanks man! actually, i flew from richmond to atlanta, and then my connecting flight to san jose from atlanta got canceled and i almost got stuck there overnight or possibly longer. and i couldn't really leave the security area. i probably spent a good 8 hours in the atlanta airport today before managing to catch a flight to LA and then to san jose, but the LA leg was bumped up to first class so it made it semi-ok.jb wrote:Well, you somehow failed to let a native be your guide to the city.jack wrote:i just watched this on my extremely long flight back from atlanta (right now hotlanta sucks in my book)
Anybody comes to Atlanta, lemme know, you'll have a swell time.
