For those of you who may not know about it, Song Fight! has a sort of unofficial sister site. It's called somesongs, created and run by Jefff of ADD music. Anybody can sign up to upload links to their songs, and to rate other people's songs good, bad, or ok, as well as leave comments about songs. There's also a message board where people can chat about whatever, and a million other great little features, including the "Random Song" link, which is one of my favorites. (If only the Song Fight! archive had that!) It's a great site with 1000s of links to free mp3s by 100s of different people and bands, including many many Song Fighters, particularly "classic" fighters like ADD, The John Benjamin Band, Frankie Big Face, MC Frontalot, etc. Most of the songs, though, are not Song Fight! entries, and some of the top rated contributors don't enter into Song Fight!, so you'll find loads of great new music.
Sadly the level of activity on the site has dropped to nearly zero, so I thought I would give it a plug here in the hope that some of the newer of you folks, who may not know about it, would check it out and maybe participate. And who knows, maybe some of you who do already know about it will give it another look.

I always forget about this place. Okay, since I'm forever fiending for new music, I'll go over and do some rating. Let's see how many songs I can rate in a day.

Note: You don't upload anything. You link to your songs, which you must host on your own site somewhere.Lunkhead wrote:You can upload anything you want, though if it sucks, you will be rightfully panned and rated bad, and probably made fun of.
So far Boltoph and Niveous answered the call, joy!

And they can't be links to pages with the songs imbedded or anything (a la MySpace). They have to be .mp3 links (a la Songfight mp3s).jb wrote:Note: You don't upload anything. I've been in and out of there over the past year, on a couple collabs, and sometimes post songs. It's always nice to have a place to have songs listened to, esp. when you can work on the songs on your own schedule and create your own titles and themes for the songs. Although there is a certain beauty to the "contest" factor of songfight, with the titles assigned.Lunkhead wrote:So far Boltoph and Niveous answered the call...
With Songfight and Somesongs, it's like the best of both worlds! Ahhhhhh...

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Jefff not only created and operates somesongs, but he is the sole dictator with complete control over the site, so if you don't like that, tough crap. So far he's proven to be a benevolent ruler to all but the few who just want to mess up the site and ruin it for others...

I think he appeared at Drumbella first, although I may be wrong. he definitely appeared briefly on Somesongs with an acoustic version of a Ramones song.fluffy wrote:Incidentally, didn't Gooberoo show up with his Dylanesque whining at Somesongs before he decided to bless us with his wonderful presence and his anti-moderation vendetta?
