Portable MP3 Player (iPod, Zen, etc)

Post by Bjam »

Any reccomendations? I had an iPod but it broke a while back(as did my brother's... and my dad's...), so I'm kinda eh about them at the moment. But then they have a product that's well known and it's a brand. The nanos are pretty cute, but also pretty small(in GB).

So, any suggestions? Do you have an mp3 player that rocks? One that sucks? My only real criteria is that it needs to be sturdy(it'll be spending most of it's life in my purse or backpack) and 'pretty'(I'm a sucker for shiny colourful things).

How about a phone that does all of the above?

I have this mp3 player, made by Olympus:

I got it at Radio Shack, when they had a rebate deal going that brought the price down to $100.

It's okay, I guess. It's not real convenient to use as a file transfer device. And the smooth face is pretty cool, but I find it pretty annoying to try to operate in the car. (Note: I guess the smart thing for me to do is NOT operate my mp3 player while driving. But raised buttons would make this task decidedly less tricky.) Plus, I haven't found a good case for it, which means it's all scratched up after about a year of use.

But it holds 5GB, and it was pretty cheap.
