I've posted two sets of lyrics for this song in the lyrics mart. Warning: NFSW (not safe for work, not safe for wife, not safe for wikipedia.)

(Deep breath, and here we go)
I'm in. Er, that is, I'm back, and I'm in. In fact, I decided to be in about an hour and a half ago, and the song's already done, so I just need to record it in a non-half-arsed fashion over the weekend.
Not that anyone would remember me, but I come back with one change*: twin toddlers, a boy and a girl, who have been absorbing all of the songs I've written in the last year and a half or so. In case some random person was wondering what happened to me.
Expect to hear toddler yelling on top of the usual dog barks in the background.
*same old ukulele, though.

Now I'll have to go searching the archives for Our Love Violates Corporate Policy, because if Steve likes it, it must be good. Plus the title is great, lol.
edit: Ok, I just went and listened. It's awesome! Great job Minty, you even got your wife in on it, I'm assuming your wife. You should submit this song to the show, "the office" so they have the perfect song when Pam and Jim finally "do it"
Congrats on the twins by the way.

You ****d my wife?
Mike, you're married to my wife? Oh noes!
It's nice to be remembered, thanks Steve/Mike. When the kids got imminent, I got really busy, and once they arrived (ahead of schedule) -- well, I had no idea it was going to take so much TIME. Just now finally starting to get my extracurricular activities back on track, and this counts toward that goal.
Of course, I woke up this morning with a cold (darn kids!) so we'll see how the vocal ends up. I'm thinking a massive transposition downwards.

Correction
Correction: I'm not in. Looks like I jumped the gun on trying to do this with kids. Too much screaming, too much banging, too much crying, and couldn't get my computer back up and running to record in the brief time today I had without 'em. Bluh.
Here are the lyrics, just so nobody thinks I didn't write the song in the first place. I'll try again in a future fight if Liz takes the kids out for the day.
EDIT: My wife rocks. Kids went to bed, she didn't want me moping about the song, so we just whipped a quickie version together. Submitting in the next few minutes. The downside is I didn't have time to work out, oh, drums or an ending, so it's just a gentle fade out to oblivion...and my uke only had three strings. Somehow that made it sound better.
---
Why must we be fighting for Georgia's hand
Don't you know there's only room for one man
If you ask her to choose, you'll lose
Unless you win which I can't stand to conceive
Surely it'd be better if she asked you to leave
Why must you insist that sweet Georgia decide
She only needs one man to keep her satisfied
If she tells you to stay today
Well I could never ever understand why
Wouldn't it be better if you said goodbye
When uncontested I was top of her charts
My baby daily breaking other men's hearts
No force or fellah could have broken us apart
When I kissed her
When uncontested I was top of her list
And other men they simply didn't exist
But then you met her and I know that you couldn't resist her
I wish she had a twin sister
Why must we be rivals, why can't we be friends
Only Georgia knows what her own heart intends
When she makes up her mind, you'll find
That two's a couple and you're making it three
She'll give her heart and her hand to me

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence. I will agree to disagree with you about "Dark All Day" but I appreciate it anyway.mico saudad wrote:Everyone wins when you have a good songwriting month (e.g. Dark All Day which, btw, deservedly had 74 votes for a single mf song.!!)

My entry has just been e-mailed to Fightmaster. Puce has taken on the mixing and mastering duties yet again.
I like my song. Hopefully some of you will too.
ROCK!
